Just wondered with so many contracts coming up for renewal or termination, do the players really want promotion as many clearly won’t be here next season If we reach the promised land. ? Obviously their futures would be more secure if we were to remain in the championship.
Today was like pensioners playing walking football.

Thought the same a few weeks ago when performances dropped

A good point but no need for the ageism insults ,am a pensioner who plays walking football and we usually play better then this bunch at the moment!

Probably BS but from Porktalk:

"I was told today by a guy who regularly sits in exec box at the lane that whilst all players and staff are still being paid on time, bonus payments stopped being paid 2 months ago to players and is still being witheld.

Apparently they can get away with it based on contracts with the players and it is being put aside to be paid at the end of the players contract - not being not paid, just being laid away until the players contracts end.

Sounds intriguing"

I know these conversations take place in dressing rooms, sometimes at half time away when a captain says "winning pay next year or losing pay"

Lower standard, different sport and stuff, but still...

Something has defo gone badly wrong but don't rely on local hacks to discover what , they couldn't cross-examine their way out of a wet paper bag.

I suspect it's more to do with some of the players not having a fucking clue where they will stand in a couple of months time, because current events have meant that noone is able to discuss a new contract. The bonus payment issue sound feasible too.

Even if we get through this prolapse in form and get promoted, it's fair to say that the Prince has already left a rancid skidmark on would have been a decent record as owner.

Looking at this manager's personality as it comes across in interviews , I just cannot see him inspiring a "backs to the wall" fight for promotion from any group of players , let alone the duffers he continues to select when better alternatives are available.

Interesting idea that bonus payments are being withheld it does make one wonder why one or two can't get a game and why certain players seem to be suffering mystery injuries anyone really know what the injury to Baldock was recently for e.g. ????
No they don't want promotion ?
Ageing squad coming to the end of contracts do they really think they will get a new Premier League contract probably not, a Championship contract on the other hand ??? Are some of these really going to play themselves out of a job?????? Looking at the present squad only Ndiaye will be playing Premier League football next season even Berge seems to pull little interest at that level. Anel's drop in form would make him a risk at a higher level, someone might take a punt on McBurnie other than that I can't think of anyone else, maybe a fit RND.

Most if them will end up in League One anyway regardless of what the club is doing next year.

Hmmmm…Makes you wonder.

There was far less dangerous alternatives at his disposal today…I mean what does Doyle have to do to get a start over Fleck?

It is an interesting scenario really, as a load of this squad apparently going for promotion will not be here next season whichever division we are in

Sounds like made up pig bollocks

There are 3 voices in the management team, not just Hecky’s.

I always take porktalk rumours with a mine of salt.

But do think it's not harmonious behind the scenes. Heckys alluded to that multiple times. Just not elaborated. Communication from Prince is generally v.poor to the staff/coaches.

The comment about hecky mentioned about the players today could be construed a few ways. One that they have done well to get to this stage with our injuries and what not.
But could also be to do with behind the scenes stuff.

Irrespective of long term contracts I’m sure there’s a sizable promotion bonus currently on the table, not mention having a promotion on your CV…
Indeed. It's genuinely ridiculous to ask "do they want promotion?" - yes, they all do, obviously.

If winning every match was easy, it wouldn't be professional football that's the most loved sport worldwide.

Complete and utter bollocks.

If this were true, they'd be playing even harder. If they're out of contract at the end of the season what's going to get them the best pay day for next season? Being shit and ballsing up promotion or smashing it out of the park, getting promoted then signing a bumper deal with one of the relegated PL sides as a solid championship player who knows how to get promoted.

Wow, that is a ridiculous post!

The club will probably end up there after next season or the one after if we fuck this season up. Its been run like an absolute sack of shit since promotion. Virtually every signing has failed, the contract situation is , a 5 year contract for a previously failed manager is bizarre, we get an embargo after getting ourselves into a great position.

I think the kudos and financial bonus of getting promoted means the players do want success. Yes some will be released, but to have a promotion on the CV is more than enough to motivate them.
