What were the circumstances of Bernard Shaw leaving the club? Lord knows how many times I had the opportunity to ask him personally but never got around to it..were there offers in for him?
Arthur Rowley was happy to sell him to Wolves who were a division above us

Very lively indeed!

Spoke to a copper some weeks later who told me they picked up a small fortune in coins from the pitch thrown at them by Leeds.

I was young and daft back then. Went with an ex army lad called tom (rip) Scuffling before outside as we queued to get in on John Street West with Leeds as they came past, and plenty after outside the Howard. To be fair it was going off everywhere that day. They were doing their usual party trick of ripping the seats out. Always hated Leeds, always will.
thats correct guy i knew who was on john st west came home with every pocket filled with 50p coins that was their weapon of choice jagged edge coin for most damage

Different times, different characters and I believe Billy's never done ? bottles of whisky a day.
Sad, on good money, abundance of talent, adored by the Gers fans, what happened?
Whatever, he was only 61 when he died of MND, read WIKI, interesting, with one rather surprising fact on the honours in his name.
Don’t think the Gers liked him at all unless I’ve missed something played for Celtic

Ah!
See what yous pointed out there.
Not only the wrong team but 'THE WRONG TEAM'.
Glad to see some are paying attention and are on top of their game.
I have to claim a senior moment there, thanks for correcting me, an old mate from the early 60's would have knocked me out for that.

Anybody remember this guy. ? It was about 52/53 when Utd turned Spurs over at the Lane and Hawksworth gave this fella nightmares for weeks afterwards.

That might have been the day when Alf decided to get rid of wingers.

The rest is history.
53-54 Blades 5-Spurs 2, Ringstead hat trick, Brook & Hawksorth, with Hagan pulling the strings, no doubt, he played at no.8.
Derek could trap a bit but somehow seemed to be more relaxed on the cricket side than the Terrace side. At least that was the concensus of the crowd around where we stood on the Terrace.
