My concern about Heckingbottom has been his recent excuses for our poor performances and defeats - i.e. other teams cheat by feining injury when tackled to win free kicks and get our players booked; meanwhile, Heckingbottom insists our players stay on their feet when tackled and avoid falling down. He then offers a vague statement regarding whether or not he intends to instruct United players to cheat by feining injury when tackled, winning free kicks, and getting opposition players booked. In my mind, this is a seriously deranged perspective and I wonder how long United will continue to use his paranoid services ...

Do you really think these players are so good they should be cruising at the top of the league? I’m not so sure.
They weren’t good enough for that last year, and the best one left. Nobody else has offered big money to buy them. Many of them are ageing and/or injury prone. A few of the others are playing in their first ever full season.
I think we have good players, otherwise we wouldn’t be second in the league, but they’re not so amazing that the team should be head and shoulders above every other club in the division. If they were really that good, surely someone higher would have bought them. They’re decent championship players, who have been doing extremely well to get themselves to second in the league. I find it hard to see this season as underperforming really.

personally i dont think hecky will be good enough for the premier league if we go up but its not his fault he couldnt make additions to the squad in january 2 good additions and we would have been certs for automatic promotion but hes got to earn his money now by making tough decisions with team selections boro got a tough game at the hawthorns next saturday if they lose and we beat watford were back in the driving seat

TBH CPB, I think that it may be worse than that. I think that we can see the likes of Berge, Liman, Egan (not that bothered about that though TBH), Bogle , Anel being sold to pay the debt and and somehow keep the club solvent.

What’s happened? Why have we been playing crap for the last two months. I just think this is when true colours are shown and while yes he is managing a team in 2nd place he is also managing our implosion. Surely after Middlesbrough we should have played our best team to make sure we beat Millwall. Instead he has Basham(out of form) and Jack Robinson who while has been ok is not as good as Anel or Clark.
Midfield is a disaster. Why is he playing Berge for 90 mins when he actually puts a 5 minute shift in. Why does he keep using Osborn?

It’s astonishing how Utd can fuck it up like this. Even the ownership crap is a joke. We should have signed a couple of players to help take us over the line but couldn’t.

1890's, unfortunately I don't know which season. I could have been told, by my grand-farther but time has eroded it.
I do know that when he was a boy, on a Saturday morning wanting to go to Bramall Lane with his father, and not knowing if he would be allowed to, his mother told him to polish his father's best boots and apparently it did the trick.

Agree about Jan and wish things were totally different with the current owner but they are not. As for DS, the total GS idiot backing the current owner, don't get me going with that. Good management teams adapt, by changing systems, etc for certain games when depleted. Just saying that we maybe could have done things differently (also good in hindsight I know)?
