McCabe speaks

Well the same applies to McCabe surely?

Indeed it does.

My problem with it, personally, was the use of the term "silly myth". If he'd said "misunderstanding" or "communication breakdown" or even "lack of understanding of the situation" then OK. But "silly myth" suggests someone is making things up and that's not an accusation to lay at the person running the team (in my view of course).

Show me where McCabe has said that Wilson made this "silly myth" up. You won't be able to do so, because nowhere has he accused Wilson of doing that. And if it's completely untrue that there has been a block on using certain players for financial reasons (not saying it is, but it could well be), wouldn't the description "silly myth" be justifiable, and wouldn't McCabe have the right to say it without being hauled over the coals for it.

I think there has been some pretty obssessive micro examination of what McCabe said and it's just possible that 2+2 is now equalling 9.

So where has this "silly myth" come from?

The only place I've seen or heard of it was when Wilson said on Radio Sheffield, in answer to the question. "Were Cresswell and Montgomery fit." and he answered "Yes. They couldn't play because of directions from upstairs".
It's there for all to listen to, so if this isn't the "silly myth", where is its source?

If you were investing in the football team, and it went really well - think Premiership -, you might ( as the current owner once did) think it a good idea to increase capacity of stadium to generate bigger crowds etc and thus lessen your own need to keep putting your hand in your pocket.

How disappointed you'd be, then, to find that your Landlord had buggered that up by turning the stadium and surrounding land into a northern version of Leyton Orient.

Plenty of room to expand the stadium if we get the chance of another World Cup bid, Im sure we will have taken this into account should the opportunity to expand the stadium ever arise

None of us know where it came from or if it really is a myth or reality.

All we know is that Wilson says he couldn't use certain players for financial reasons, and McCabe says it's a silly myth that he couldn't use those players for financial reasons.

Wilson has not said why he thought he couldn't use those players or where the instruction (if there was one) came from.

And McCabe has not accused Wilson of starting the "silly myth" or of telling lies.

There are entirely reasonable circumstances that could lead both men to have their respective takes on the situation without either of them being a liar or trying to do something underhanded. Just as the opposite is also possible. But the only certainty is that none of us on this forum know the absolute truth of the matter. Some of us are prepared to keep an open mind and not make adverse judgements against anyone until more facts become available. And it maybe that nothing else comes out about the matter and we never know one way or the other.

I think people read far too much into things like this, I could see several reasons why they may say what was said. Maybe as I think someone has already pointed out it was a ploy to get Cressy and Monty to either F'off or sign new lower priced contracts, by leaving them on the stands it gives them a clear indication that they need to do one or the other while the statement DW made absolves him of any responsibility for it.

McCabe often gets slated for not coming out and saying we're completely broke, make huge losses and will go bust without me. Those arnt the things you would say if your trying to attract investment into a company which is what hes doing. So playing down financial hardship seems very logical, it looks much better to investors if it was the managers decision

I would think a good reason not use said players was either of them getting an injury before the deadline scuppering any slim chance of us getting shut of either of them, that could be classed as a financial reason

Yeah. Ithought that as well.
Far too much being read into Wilson and McCabes remarks.
Just want to keep Quinny this year. But I think we can still mount a challenge if we lose him before deadline

It's interesting that Creswell has made exactly 99 league appearances for us.
I wonder if his 100th appearance would have triggered a bonus payment, hence him being left out?
All sorted now anyway, so I reckon he'll start on Saturday.

That's just a silly myth. :D
Mind you Monty is on 397 appearances for United wonder if his games at Millwall count to his possible trigger point of 400

You can speculate all you wish; "Richard's contractual circumstances have changed and he is in contention to play at the weekend" according to DW on the OS.

But the idea that he was dropped due to financial reasons are a myth, just remember that. Having his contract changed this week and him now in contention to play have nothing to do with each other.

And that would obviously be the truth wouldn't it because it fits in with the anti-McCabe line. There couldn't possibly be any other take on it.

Like convincing him to sign a new player/coach deal as he won't play otherwise on existing terms you mean?

Nah, too far fetched for me.
