While I see your point, I'm not sure the club has any obligation here. I mean, it's not like we've not been paying his wages while he's been injured. I assume some of this comes back through insurance, but I don't know if it's all covered. We should definitely be helping him. I'm just not convinced we should be giving him a job if he's not the best person for that job. Harsh as it might sound, it's not like we've got a huge staffing cohort.
No I’m not saying we have an obligation but with how driven he is it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s not a success on the none playing side if that’s where he chooses to go. He also seems to have been taking on some training responsibilities in terms of the gym sessions as has been mentioned in interviews

This is a good opportunity to point out that Sheffield United Women will travel to Alex Greenwood's City in the 4th Round of the WFA Cup at the end of January if we can get past Forest in the 3rd Round on January 8th.

The 28 year old, shouldn't that say? I struggle to believe any of that is true.

He aint coming back. Three whole seasons now (effectively) out on the touchline/bench/recovery table

Even if he is ready to eat people's livers and kick oppositions over crossbars, his match awareness aint what it used to be and the team itself have been through the motions, good and bad.

Shame, because he was a fucking great centreback

He'd probably be playing for someone like Liverpool now and us about 40m+ better off!

actually it is only the championship that insists on a maximum 25 man squad its 22 in league 1 and 2
the prem is basically 25 but can have under 21s as well born after Jan 2002
Under 21s don't count towards the 25 in the Championship either.

I reckon I could still get in any United team even though I'm 61. Boots have only 1 stud missing (that's me haha) socks have no holes in them, shorts are a little (alot) tight and my shirt still has the badge on....fit for a king not.

Effectively his career was done at 26. Such a shame & an absolute fan favourite. I loved watching him & I've not seen anything like him since, not even Anel is on his level in my opinion.

2020 was a real shitter for us

With the age mistake and back training comment I'm guessing this was 2021 PL disaster season. Hecky said the other week when he took over from CW that JOC trained a couple of times with him before his set back.

He’s in the gym everyday on Instagram. He’s probably stronger than he ever has been & in better condition & he still can’t go on the grass. I think that tells us everything

Probably the best I’ve seen in a Blades shirt. I think you’d have to go back to at least the Harris days to find better.

I can't recall anyone returning to playing at the top level after such a long lay off.

Unless there really is hope/expectation that he could return, I do wonder why the club hasn't attempted to retire him and seek an insurance payout - he'll be worth nothing when his contract expires in the summer.

Such a shame - I still don't quite understand how such a large-framed bloke was able to be so mobile. If it is unfortunately the end, he'll go down as a big fan favourite.

Muhamad Ali was out of action for 4 years. Came back to become world champion.

Jack will be back.

He said he was ‘closer to the grass everyday‘ ive just played it back sounds like a side step answer I’m guessing he’ll see his contract out then retire his insurance will pay out and he’ll financially be in a good place.
