However, we've had a few games this season where even after wins, very few have been left to clap the players off.

Today, Boxing Day, sell out crowd, 3-1 win to go 8 points clear in the automatic promotion places and hardly anyone left in the ground to applaud the players off.

Even in League 1 we had 75% of the Kop staying behind and giving a rousing cheer.

Struggling to remember such a pathetic number of fans left to acknowledge a win on a Bank Holiday full house in such a lofty position.

I know individuals will respond with their own circumstances, plenty which I understand and respect, but in over 40 years watching us, today genuinely surprised me how few waited just a few minutes to clap us off.

I've seen more when we've been shit in this league and below.

I clap them as the match ends as you would for actors or musicians .

Do you start clapping as soon as you recognise the first few passes in the move that leads to a goal and then stand and cheer loudly when we score?

Have you ever looked up at the Kop from Shoreham street during a game you have not attended?
I have, a few times, there are usually people stood visible, who have paid for the match, roaming about, eating, looking down onto the chippy across the road, even half way through the first half.

There were swathes of empty seats as we entered added time, and loads leaving. I commented on the same to one of my mates.

We generally always stay to clap the team off (because I like clapping), and the ground was almost empty. There were boos for the Ref (not sure why), and by the time the Utd team got to the tunnel I'd be surprised if there were 3,000 in the ground.

Everyone's choice what to do, but after seeing off a good team with 10 men, and being joint top of the league, I thought more would have stayed to show their support.

I suppose they all had Ham salad teas to get back to along with good Boxing day TV.

I don’t leave to get a beer 5-10mins before HT and miss start of 2nd half.

Always at my seat 5mins to cheer the lads onto the pitch.

Never moan about anyone who have their own routine and don’t do as I do, even if I have to stand up let people in and out of their seats in my row.

I sometimes, not always, leave 4-5mins early to get off home. Leaving just a few mins early can save me 20-30mins depending where we manage to park. On away days leaving a little early can make a bigger difference to time taken to get home. When you’re juggling a young family and following the blades all over the country it’s not easy and not always just about a day out on the piss.

I’d have a guess that yesterday was more about people the having plans at night but I couldn’t give a shite what their reasons were, they’ve paid their money for their ticket so their choice to not turn up, miss kickoff, miss end of 1st half & start of 2nd or leave early etc

What's even more bizarre is how many people are stood outside the back of the kop during the match. For the first time in a very long time, I went for a pee during the second half (immediately after the third goal went in) and there was a group of young people stood at the top of the steps discussing whether their cousin Brittany was coming for tea later. I'll confess, me and a mate was watching on telly and when final whistle went... we just turned it off.

Nah I'm being a twat and I do get what you mean but I suppose people just.. have life's to lead. It's a pain in the arse being crammed on a bus or tram trying to get home with some wanker shouting down their phone next to you or blowing a mushroom cloud sized strawberry and cream scented vape bubble exclaiming "ITS NOT SMOKING,I'M ALLOWED TO DO THIS" so I think most just want to get off and back to the boxing day traditions.

I agree though the lads to deserve the praise at the end but I see that far more towards the end of the season. They've put the shift in and everyone thanks them for it.
