That's mad. How does the tech not pick up on that?
Hopefully it does, and the club will soon catch up with them and give them a proper kick up the arse. And in the bollocks.

I remember watching a documentary on London Transport where they investigated a customer with unusual Oyster Card readings. They eventually worked out what scam he was up to and so the day came when they were waiting for the miscreant at the station where he was arrested, hung, drawn, quartered, then thrown under a train. That learned him.

Linz Foxy Quick question guys, based on the meeting, and sorry if I missed this point, but what is the 'path to effective' and how are they measuring success?

At what point can this restriction be removed?

Is it 5 games without incident? Is it 3 games? Is it a full month of home games?

How are they measuring the effectiveness? It just seems a little subjective at times so what are they looking to achieve for a green light to be given to return back to full capacity?

Cheers

When we had started the unused areas were more noticeable on the wings. The cold would have kept a few away as well though.

Definitely the wings, particularly the TC stand side. The back half of kop full, still lots of standing, but walkways always stayed clear throughout.

I am not one who generally criticises the atmosphere at the Lane as I think it is generally poor in most home sections at grounds nowadays but yesterday it was noticeably flat, I’d go as far to say a none existent atmosphere.

Now I don’t know if this was due to the restricted numbers or more to do with it being freezing and a terrible game.. but it was not an enjoyable experience yesterday.

It was shocking. You could’ve heard a pin drop.

Our first game back after the break, 1-0 up and joint top of the league.

If we can’t create an atmosphere under those circumstances we might as well give up. I’m at the point now where I’ve accepted it’ll never go back to what it once was.

I think that we should petition the club to install heating on the Kop, in the same way that the stadia in Qatar have air con.

They could do this while they remove the pillars and install safe standing.

Music to my ears. I didn't make the trip yesterday, but get terrible FOMO, so your comments are very reassuring. It was an awful game to watch too. 👍

I could clearly hear what goalkeeper Nicholls was shouting to his defence, most of the first half. I was ten rows back in BLUT.

It just demonstrates the English supporting culture - they need an excuse to create atmosphere, rather than doing it of their own accord, and it was a shit, instantly forgettable game which did nothing to spark it.

No but plenty of empty seats around me. Shame.
Aye
But that was nowt to do with restricting tickets !

Yesterday was really weird on the Kop. We turned up at 2:50pm and got straight in - literally two people queueing in front of me at the turnstile. For a normal league fixture I can safely say that has never happened to me before.

Atmosphere flat as a pancake. I thought with it being the first game back and England playing later on that the place would be rocking. Not the case at all. A pretty tepid and uninspiring United performance didn't help matters on that front.

Lots of people (myself included) keeping a close eye on the WC game. Felt a bit strange to have such a big game on at the same time as our own and I think having that distraction contributed to the strangeness of the afternoon.

Didn't stop there, either. Post-match I saw a bloke coming out of the ground wearing a Sheffield Wednesday hat and a different bloke walking down John Street carrying a giant cardboard cut-out of Chris Basham. Very odd day.

Where I sit on the kop seems to be "popular" for this kind of overcrowding. It has been mentioned before. Big games are worse for it. But the general stereotype of the individuals ramming 3 to a seat are aged 16-25. Someone will probably tell me it's wrong to say that and it's not all 16 year old or whatever, but actually, where we are, it is.

I'm probably guilty myself. I'm row AD but skip back to AF. But that's just me. And I'm not overcrowding as that particular seat is empty. If someone is in it, I'll shift. But again, big games, I could give the club a few names of individuals who get a ticket anywhere on the kop but who feel the need to push and shove alongside me on the back row. They haven't been all this season, though, so aren't a cause of the problem this season especially.

The message from the club wasn't clear enough. Persistent standing is NOT the issue. Having a seat in row Z but skipping up to ZZ for atmosphere IS.

Don't think I'll be able to attend this season anyway so it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

While you're at it, any chance of a bidet under my seat to save me getting up and trundling off to the loo? Escalator would be nice to get up to the Kop in the first place also.

You do know you're not supposed to wee in the bidet, right? It's for washing, and I've never known anybody ever pop to the kop bogs for a mid game wash of their knackers

Hah - next you'll be telling me I can't piss in the sink. As for washing their knickers in the Kop bogs, I can't be the only one surely!?

We must have been in very close proximity after the game as I saw the Wednesday woolly and the Bash cardboard cut-out as well.

I have it from a good source that we are being investigated by the EFL about trouble at our away games, apparently 9 out of 10 have seen trouble.
Some fucker has it in for us, Ive been to every game apart from one and seen hardly any, certainly nothing on the scale of Birmingham and scabs at the lane. That may be down to decent policing everywhere else (apart from Heddlu) and the ineptitude of SYP.

Is this the new craze instead of holding up a sign saying "Can I have your shirt Bash?" you now hold up a cardboard cut out of the player and hope they swap it for the real one.

In this case the swap didnt happen so it might not catch on.
