Why are they all sat down.

Safe seating. :)

Though maybe not persistent seating, or seating in the wrong seat..

Looks like being in a prison to me all those rails.
It certainly doesn't seem to have lifted the atmosphere at Anfield.

In March the SGSA issued new guidance to help stadium safety officers plan for such events without impacting on the field of play, which it said had become a "recent trend".

March - new guidance, is that when it started..

More than 1,800 fans were injured at Premier League and English Football League games last season.

If a few stand up do they get told to siddarn,i mean they would be standing safely.

All sat down or all stood up .

I reckon it will be a very high percentage of injuries happening in the away ends of grounds? Just a hunch from some of the pictures and videos you see doing the rounds on social media.
Remember the guy at Bournemouth away in our first PL game? Think he fell down some steps after being pushed from behind. Broke his leg or hip or summat. He was only a slim small guy so didn't stand much chance with a crowd like that.

But had rail seating been in place, there would have not been any falling or surging from behind.

I'm not sure if the guy (was he called Marc??) died not too long after. I don't think it was from those injuries mind.

Ended up in a wheelchair.

I went to the evening with Sharp & Edwards and he mentioned this event whilst asking them a question

I was at that event. He actually had the room laughing.

'Keith, you're one of my favourites of all time. What a player. Some of your goals were superb and you were a pleasure to watch. But my question is to Billy...'

😂😂😂😂

Those steps at john street side of the kop. would be dodgy in an emergency. hurrying down them to evacuate.
Let's hope that never happens.

I think the surging at Bournemouth was down the aisles when we scored, you can't really surge over seating areas .so rail seating would have made no difference at all .

FB98 you still alive bro? Only ever seen you on this thread fighting your corner
Haha I'm alive mate. As expected Saturday was one of the worst atmospheres I've ever heard at Bramall Lane & for me showed the importance of the lads who go & make it happen at the back. But it's clear nobody agrees, most don't see any problem with "doing as theyre told" & infact almost nobody really cares about sorting out the abysmal atmosphere full stop so whats the point me going on. If it was like that every week I'd stop going.

What's the problem with "doing as they're told"? You seem to have a real issue with this.

The same "doing as they're told" is simply "following the rules and regulations" of the venue, for which the club is now losing money, because a section of the fan base isn't following them.

Incidentally the club is not even going after individuals to recover these lost earnings, merely asking them to follow the rules of the stadium, which apply to all.

What they are being told told, and let's be honest the club is being very gentle about this, folk are being asked not even told, is to do the right thing regarding sitting in your seat and not congregating in gangways.

If fans can't create an atmosphere without a need to break the rules of the venue and lose the club money weekly then it's a pretty sad state of affairs.

It is such a reasonable request to sit in the seat allocated. It really is.

Aye
Or you & yours can continue railing (?!?) against “doing as they’re told” until your ‘decision’ to “stop going” will be made for you
ie and for absolute clarity: you’ll be TOLD you can’t come in - that really will banjax the atmosphere

NOt EvEN goInG AFtEr inDiVidUalS. Is that what you'd advocate? How do you think that would pan out amongst the fan base? Disunity is the last thing this club needs.

At least we know Champagne Blade is McSue……..

Look it was good enough for Dave Allen...😉

Point being, they haven't heavy handedly started talking about stadium bans for individuals, removal of season tickets or any such like. There is a loss involved here and there are individuals whose actions are contributing to that loss. The club hasn't gone down that track and fair play to them. They shouldn't have to.

If you're asking would I target individual fans? It depends what you mean. If some fans refused to amend the behaviours and it threatened closure of the kop or continue reduced capacity then I'd suggest giving them sufficient individual warning so that they amend their behaviour. If it isn't amended then they'd have to have their season ticket rescinded, pro-rata; I'm not suggesting we rob our own fans but if they won't change and it jeopardises the bigger picture then you'd have no choice and they get refunded what percentage they will miss. Hopefully our fans wouldn't be so self-centered.

What I am not clear on as per my note to Foxy and Linz is what is required and in what timeframe and how exactly will this be measured in order to re-opens those sections?

The Empty Kop Seat are all on the Cherry St side of the kop. due to restrictions not sold.
Some of the gangways were blocked. so they must be season ticket holders.
As far as I,m concerned they are not hurting owt.i am in the back row and stand on my seat. So I can see the game.
The nearby steward's don,t do anything. they don't get paid to get involved because it will end up in a riot.
The only way is for a club official to take note of each seat that is empty. then check the list to see whose,s seat it is. then send them a letter.
Givin a polite reminder of what the consequences are. just a view from another angle.

You standing at your seat doesn't seem to be the problem.

I think we've ruled that one out in the main.

It seems to be purely being at a seat that isn't yours and congregating in the gangways or isles.

What rule/ because you said so if no one has bought seats because sales are not allowed
.common sense says it must be season ticket holder,
I am a season ticket holder. you implied I am one of the people in the gangway. The same people stand in the aisles/gangway every game.
You could be one of them.

Saturdays provided some pretty clear evidence imo that having alot less people stood in the atmospheric sections has a negative impact on the atmosphere. It's not an unreasonable request within itself but as I've said many times people feel they have to do this due to the fact they can't buy tickets anywhere near here due to people with zero intention of making a noise buying tickets asking people to sit down 8 rows from the back. So there's only 7 rows of "space" for standers in most gangways.
Clearly appetite to do anything about this & improve the atmosphere is very low & I'm in a minority. But the atmosphere will not randomly improve without something drastic being done to make it improve.

If you're happy with things as they are and Saturdays atmosphere fair enough. If they shut the KOP the atmosphere wouldn't have been much, possibly any worse & that is not an exaggeration. It was a literal friendly

Without going through the whole thread and apologies in advance for this but why are we being singled out for this treatment? Sorry if it’s already been mentioned.

Not “happy” with either the current restrictions on the KOP (unsure as to the reason for capitalisation) nor the (lack of) atmosphere on Saturday, which, as others have said may not be fully / directly associated with the KOP ‘issue’
Merely (again) pointing out the obvious consequences of fans apparently burying their head in the sand.
I also don’t buy the line that folk only create an atmosphere (sing) when they’re stood up(with their mates) in a gangway - it’s not a gospel meeting down at chapel; although South Stand G / H do muster a “Sheff United Hallelujah”at least twice a game - including Saturday gone

Well it's pretty evident to anyone on the KOP the only people who make a near constant noise are those stood at the back mainly on the John Street end. I haven't seen anyone offer any solutions other than "do as we're told and the club might give us some safe standing in 5 years" which to me indicates nobody sees a major problem with everyone just sitting in their seats & business as worse than usual

I'd say Saturday's lack of atmosphere being:

45% fans being nesh twats
45% fans never being proactive and waiting for the team to do something positive before making any noise
9% people not giving a shit about Huddersfield and being more invested on paying attention to the Netherlands game on Livescore
1% what your think it is

You could have the problem fans all standing at the back, and the atmosphere would still have been shit

The atmosphere has been poor many times before these restrictions. Let’s not pretend otherwise. Plenty of comments on here to show that. It hasn’t just fallen off a cliff as it seems some want to claim.
