email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

I think in terms of the need to register an account to purchase a ticket; the question should be why, rather than just accepting it’s required. Despite how straightforward it is, it’d be even more straightforward to not have to do this and purchase as a guest. The club would still have the person’s details and could offer the option to opt in/out of the mailing list.

Clubs like Juventus require it (a) as they’ve huge demand to attend games with fans worldwide, and (b) to prevent ticket touts. In Italy you have to show your ID (in theory, they don’t always check) a lot of the time when entering the stadium, to prove the ticket is yours. That’s not a requirement here, nor do we have the same level of challenges as Juventus do when it comes to demand and overseas tourists.

For the big games, where we know we’ll sell out, then have the restrictions to enable regular fans the priority of purchasing a ticket. But for a fixture like QPR, at home, on a Tuesday night, is it needed?

I think it's probably to do with the stadium anti-terrorism plan, they need to know who everyone in the stadium is

Very good video, explains in straightforward language what the problem is. You can stand if you want to provided you are in your own seat and no where else. Don't seat migrate. Have a quiet word with someone you know maybe part of the problem. The Club have recognised they have not handled this well and the wording of the original message was confusing.

SUFC should employ these two to do more videos when important messages are needed.

Pull up the drawbridge! Just say "no" to migrants on the Kop!

Was part of a meeting this evening in which representatives of SAG, SCC and Sheffield United were present, there will be more communications in the coming weeks, but my personal takeaway from what was said in summary (most of which has already been suggested in this thread) - This is by no means anything close to verbatim nor have I been asked to say particular things (we've never been in for that):

  • The crux of the issue and the most pressing matter, as speculated in this thread, is the migration and occupying of specific areas outside of an individuals ticket resulting in overcrowding, blockages and an unsafe environment. In plenty of observed examples this is 3/1 or higher. Talking particular areas at the back of the Kop and the gangways/exits.
  • The club have to tackle this, they can't simply ignore it and are ultimately responsible for safety of supporters, they want as many people in as possible, the best atmosphere possible, but have responsibilities to ensure that's in a safe manner.
  • I think by the very fact there is some dialogue beginning, they accept or think that perhaps it could have been handled differently or that the original message perhaps has been misunderstood in terms of meaning. At the very least, they want dialogue and a co-operation with supporters rather than "us and them".
  • SAG and SCC are currently working with the club, rather than against the club and have the same stated aims and can currently see that the club are taking the issue seriously and working towards improving things.
  • The first real games that are properly affected by the temporary changes are approaching and will help identify particular potential causes/assist in tackling the core problem.
  • The club are very unlikely to make any significant changes to the Kop on a piecemeal basis and anything of any consequence would be part of any larger redevelopment.
  • Safe standing, rail seats etc would all have to be part of larger redevelopment and regardless of a want, a budget or anything else, a HUGE prerequisite of any of that being allowed would be for the current setup running without the kind of current issues. Put simply, parachute some rail seats [spoiler, we can't] in and we'd still have the same issue and problem to tackle, just in the "safe standing" area, rather than the seated area.
  • Despite it seeming and "only targeting us" issue, other clubs are experiencing similar issues.
If people decide to ignore the appeals to stop the wrongdoing and abuse those trying to encourage changing their actions... problems will continue. If people start doing what they should, the problems will go away.

Happy to pass anything back the other way, this thread was mentioned multiple times during the evening and I'd never claim to speak on anyones behalf, but always happy to be a co-ordinator passing between.
The quicker people behave and do the right thing, the quicker it's sorted. Thanks for putting this out.

It's to allocate everyone a customer number and the points for purchase so people don't turn around the eve of a big game complaining that they bought tickets for X, Y, Z matches but didn't get the points.

I think it is the block of land on the corner of John Street and Shoreham Street that belongs to KM together with 'Boundary Corner) further up Shoreham Street. I believe the card park area belongs to the Club. Didn't someone post of map a few months (or years) ago showing these blocks ?
Yeh I posted it somewhere, can't remember which thread. I think these are the bits of land that McCabe owns.

Yeah and I’m not against the points, but having an option for a guest checkout for unattractive games, alongside the option to register as a member (heavily nudging the user that signing up does get you points and the only way to purchase tickets for big games) could exist.

For many people there is a simple solution. Just 'sit in your correct seat' and the problem goes away.

For others it's a bigger issue. 'Sit in your correct seat' doesn't just mean 'sit in a different place'. For many, it means staying seated for the entire game when you've always stood. And for some it means seeing the game alone, without your mates.

In reality, I can't see everyone on the kop sitting in their correct seat for every game from now on. Best we can expect is fewer people in the 'problem area' and less blocking of the gangways.

Who says they are all fans?

Once again, not listening and making it fit your own shit stirring agenda

If mattbianco says you can add friends and family, fair enough, but it hasn't always been that way

And when you've added 50 or 60 foreigners, because my parents are of foreign origin, and we often get cousins, aunts, uncles and God knows who visiting, is there a point when the club will say "Eyup, wtf is going on here?"
You could just add two people to friends and family and use those for visitors?

When GCB junior mate came from Italy we went in the ticket office and they just did the ticket no question, sat next to us on the kop.

For info. I haven't followed the argument that's going off.

Eh?? The club isn't an extension of the Home Office.

There were large unseated areas on the Kop which was very noticeable.

I didn't hear what the attendance was though?

It was further down nearer to the bottom.
Yeah, sorry I wasn't disputing the gaps, or your post.
I just meant the ones congregating and double sitting at the back must be day ticket buyers, as it was way quieter there.

Also couldn't believe the effect on getting in. We walked straight up to a turnstile, no queue.

Something I picked up on today... season ticket card holder scanned ticket then went through turnstyle while passing his season card to his mate behind... who then used ticket again to gain entry.
