I was going to add this onto another thread but, attention seeker that I am, thought it deserved it's own thread.

Despite not playing particularly well in a number of games, especially away, we have dug in and remarkably we've currently picked up more points away, W6 D2 L3 = 20, than we have at home, W5 D3 L2 = 18 (I accept we have played 1 more game away to date).

It's usually a good sign of a team chasing promotion to gain a few 'ugly' wins and I think we can safely say we have.

Strangely, we've not conceded a goal in any of our away wins :-

2-0 Hull
1-0 Swansea
2-0 Preston
2-0 WBA
1-0 Bristol City
1-0 Cardiff

Long may it continue! Enjoy the break Blades.

In plenty of ways I think we've deserved those wins. I know some fans want to play amazing football home and away every week, but results are actually what matter.

Certainly ridden our luck with some of the clean sheets mind you. But we deserve a bit of luck as generally we're cursed!

Points per game
Away = 1.82
Home = 1.8

Not only have we picked up more away points than home points, we've also picked up more away points than any other team in the Championship.

Interesting point actually, at home teams seem to be much more clinical taking chances when they come
Away from home we have seen teams miss lots of chances when we have gone on kept clean sheets and won games even without playing that well on a number of occasions

Away team strikers like to annoy home fans?

If we can get back to our home form of early season
Which we shoukd when.players come back.from injury then we walk this league

I don’t think we will have a full squad when we play the first match back nor at any time this season. Some seem to think everyone will be back at full throttle in early December, but we will be lucky to have more than a couple back ready to start by then.

Based on what

Reports suggest lowe berge fleck bogle coulibally doyle will join clark and id be amazed if mcburnie is not fit plus anel has a bug not a chronic illness so if hes not back in a month then summats up

Line up should be

Wes
Baldock / bogle
Stevens / lowe
Anel / bash
Egan
Clark / robinson
Norwood /coulibally
Macatee /fleck/doyle /osborn
Berge
ndiaye /khadra
mcburnie /sharp

should be good enough

I do think that if there is any ambition at the club, then they should be looking to sign a strong quality midfielder in January.
As much as I like Doyle and Fleck who generally are the ones who try do the 'dirty work' in midfield, I don't think either of them have the physicality, and in Fleck's case, the athleticism, we need, basically to protect Norwood. Berge has the phyical stature, but that's not his game.

A signing akin to when Harris signed Hockey for the same reason, "to battle, win the ball... and give it to Currie".

win our home game in hand we can just sneak a point in front of our away record
need to just up both to 2 points plus per game to confirm top 2 finish

Strange because since Hecky took over our home form until recently was fantastic

The break is only 7/10 days and then training and friendly matches.
Anel has an illness that hecky refereed to as being longer than a week or so, McB has damaged ligaments as well as surgery(and a court case?).Robinson has a hamstring problem.
Some of those that you mention may by December be free of injury but not fit to play.
The main hope is that yesterday’s squad will all be free of current minor injury problems and can play at full tilt.
If some of the long term injured can be on the bench, then we can hope to progress, but the concept that all will go well once we hit December is optimistic.

We’ve played 5 of the bottom 8 away and only 1 at home - that’s why our away form looks good relative to our home form.

With the same effect, we have only played 1 of the top 6 away - again exaggerating our away form.

Encouragingly the 2 teams that we haven’t played at all (Wigan & Udders) are bottom 3 - so should be good for points home and away.

UTB & Slava Ukraini

Winning ugly from time to time is a good thing. But away from home, we only seem to win ugly. I can only really think of the WBA game where we've been in charge for most of it and it has been a comfortable victory.

Although our results away from home have obviously improved, I don't think the performances have.

I think another factor is that we’ve struggled against teams that have come to the Lane, sat in and countered, whereas when you’re the home team, there’s more onus and expectation that the home side will take the game to their opponents. Add to that some profligate finishing and good defending.
