I think we're a tad fortunate to have come away with the three points. 0-0 at half time flattered us. We were poor and Cardiff should have had at least 1.

However, we came out all guns blazing in the second half and played by far the better football. To say that XI only had 4 players I'd consider definite first teamers it is a cracking away win.

Let's hope now we can recuperate, welcome a load of lads back after the break and attack the winter period.

Need to use this time to thoroughly review our conditioning regime. The injuries are our biggest obstacle.

I dont disagree with anything you say but fuck me mate
No negative gets past you does it ?

Optimist: 4 wins from 5

Pessimist: 4 wins from 11

😁
You are right. 15 from 11 isn't amazing but given the injuries we've had to combat and with 23 from 10 previously, entering the World Cup in second place 5 and 6 ahead of Watford and Norwich isn't the worst by any means.

To get to the magic 2 points per game we'd now need to win the next four. Bit of an ask but hopefully the options will look better in a month and fixtures vs Huddersfield (h), Wigan (a), Coventry (h) and Blackpool (a) we should be able to give it a decent shot.

Today when you consider what our first choice team is, was an amazing result.

If fit, who wouldn't be picking Bogle, Ahmedhodžić, O'Connell and Norrington-Davies alongside Egan? If you discount O'Connell, then you'd have Lowe in there right away. So that's at least 4 starters and the next man down, just in defence. You'd have Berge and Doyle today and if unavailable you'd have Fleck. So that's 6 starters and 2 first drop. Then you'd have McBurnie so 7 starters and if not fit you'd have Brewster so 3 first drop too.

You've still got Jebbo and Coulibaly who could still play a part, not to mention losing Robbo after less than 15 mins.

Gutsy effort which allows us to have a break on a high with the promise of a good number of upgrades for the next game.

Keep it going Blades!

Loads of effort and organisation - couple of moments at the back but overall all good. Macatee did very well and Norwood Motm
This is exactly where Norwood needs help - he’s great when he doesn’t particularly need to bomb around and can do his quarterback role of neat, close passing and pinging long balls to wingbacks. He needs someone like McAtee to do the tricky stuff around him and advance with the ball setting up chances, leaving Ollie to sit in.

We're top of the league
We're top of the LEEEEEEEEEEAGUE
We're Sheff United
We're top of the league
🎶

We are going up ⬆️👍⚔️

Before the game looking at the side I feared the worse, decimated by injuries etc
BUT fair play that was a fabulous performance second half

I just call it as I see it.

Disappointing in the first half. Better in the second.

Happy with the likes of Baldock, McAtee and Norwood.
Not happy with Basham, Osborn and Sharp.
The rest did about average.

We got three points and I'm happy with that but looking to the future, it's another disappointing performance and we've picked up another injury. If we keep playing like we did today and keep picking up an injury a game we won't go up.

There are reasons for optimism: we're 2nd despite all of our injuries.
And reasons for pessimism: we're not performing consistently and the injuries show no sign of abating.

I feel the above is fairly balanced, as opposed to negative or however it is you perceive it.

Considering that over half the senior squad is essentially fucked until at least the end of the year, then I could not be happier with our league position or how well the management team and players have done so far. But the fact that over half the senior squad is essentially fucked until at least the end of the year, is also making this whole season a bitter sweet experience. Our best 11-17 is a cut above anything else in this league, but we can't just can't seem to get the fuckers playing together for more than a couple of games.

Assuming we can get most of our players match fit, the second half of this season is tailor made for us.
Playing three games a week is going to be a regular occurrence after the World Cup break. Having a strong squad will be the difference between success and failure. No other team has the depth in strength as us. Being able to use 5 subs should also work for us.
