McBurnie & Ndiaye partnership

Bubbling along nicely, this new front pair we've discovered. Not quite a Sharp & McGoldrick double act just yet but think we really know what our best front two is now.
I’m just concerned that’s literally our only option now. Clearly can’t rely on Sharp & Jebbo is out. Might have to look at getting Osula back

Imo McBernie isn’t a Premiership striker (if we are to get promotion) not that we’re going to attract Messi but I’d like someone else in

Both put a huge shift in. I don't think either had their best performance but compliment each other really well. Ndiaye is a nightmare with the ball at his feet and McBurnie is a handful. We need to keep them both fit. Somehow.

With Jebbo & Brewster out long-term leaving only Billy as sub , do we have any power to recall Osula in January ?

If not , we need to get another loan striker in as backup , if we want promotion.

Do we have the right to send McAtee back if we can find a replacement creative midfielder on loan in January ?

If Clark cannot prove his recovery from injury & match fitness by January , can he be sent back if we can find a replacement LCB on loan ?

I accept we may have no money for transfer fees in the next window , but McAtee & Clark have done little to help us at a time when injuries to others have bitten deep.

Personally I believe Khadra could be useful , though he's had hardly any involvement.

For the promotion run-in , we need 3 loanees of first-team starting standard who can stay fit.

Obviously Doyle has been excellent.

According to Transfermarkt McB's contract ends at the end of this season. Think that should be a priority to sort out during the wc break
That will be the problem.

When he joined us we gave him a massive pay increase.
Let's be honest here. Has the transfer been a success?
The answer is "no", he's not been worth the big transfer fee and big salary.

So what contract do we offer him? Do we make him the highest paid player at the club?
If he continues with his good form, then it wouldn't surprise me if he wants £40 to £50K a week.

Just imagine that. Paying someone who's been a dud most of his time at Sheff Utd.
Who for the past year, generally hasn't even looked average Championship standard.
It's crazy when you think such a limited player (who admittedly works hard) might demand £40 to £50K a week.

I'll make a prediction.
Just imagine we pay him a relatively modest (for a free contract) £30K a week.
Imagine if he instantly struggled in the PL and we're down near the bottom.
Alll our fans will be saying, "which idiot gave him a new contract when it was obvious he was crap" etc etc.

The reality is we can't offer anyone a contract until we know what division we are in next season.
Imagine giving Ollie £40K a week and we still end up with the limited finances of the Championship.
We'd very quickly be facing a points deduction due to EFL Profit and Sustainability rules.

That's a relief then, but yea should be sorted. Also, throw in a new contract for Ndiaye while we're at it!

Again it's impossible to negotiate anyones contract when we've no idea what our income will be next season.

His agent will easily demand £50K a week, so we'd be facing points deductions and possible admin by overspending.
We could put in clauses that we'll pay him £10K a week whilst we're still in the Championship but he then wouldn't sign it.

Yes, there wouldn't be any dilly dallying about if it was united, we'd be straight into a points deduction and a fine.

Int hard, there's no other ****ers left 😂

These are my views, basically. We have limited loan slots, all looked like solid or exciting acquisitions on first impressions, but a few have failed to make the essential impact needed or to stay fit when you're both aiming for promotion or needing their contribution because others are out.

I'm most nervous about how we get to then.

McBurnie has been brilliant this season. It would be the epitome of Bladeyness for him to be shite for ages, for the money we paid, to then become good/invaluable to our play and fairly prolific and we then can't afford to keep him here.
At least its better than what will happen with Brewster 😂😭

They really are blossoming into a formidable pairing. I just worry that McB's hernia is going to scupper things. He is clearly fucked and in agony after 60 minutes in every game, which isn't sustainable.

Sharp and Ndaye also had an excellent partnership at times last season, so hopefully we can rely on that back up pairing again as needed.

How long is McB likely to be out after a hernia op? I've heard out till the new year after the Cardiff game. That's a fair few games he misses.😔

Do you think another club would offer him £50k a week? If not, his agent might ask for it but if he’s not going to get it anywhere else, it’s just an opening offer that we’d refuse.
As far as I’m aware, we’re not operating at a loss, because that would entail either borrowing money or PA putting his own money in. We can lose up to £13m a year under sustainability rules so I doubt his wages would push our losses to that level. It’s just a case of maybe not having the money.
I wonder if it’s a case of not wanting to offer new contracts until after the JTW, as we don’t know now exactly what we need to strengthen (right now it could be strikers and maybe CM but by then it could be RWB, if George got injured and Bogle isn’t back, or CH if Egan got injured, it’s very difficult to predict). If we spend money now on signing fees and enhanced wages, there’ll be less to spend on strengthening.

Personally, I don’t like players who are close to the end of their contracts, it becomes a distraction as they start thinking about their future and about not risking injury so they can make sure they get a new club. It’s frustrating but I appreciate money is likely to be tight and, when it is, there’s never an ideal situation. In some ways, we’re still suffering from all those years out of the top flight, particularly the years in L1. We fell a long way behind and it’s difficult to catch up without some serious money being put into the club, money that goes beyond “investment” as an owner would be lucky to get a return on what they put in.
We could do with UW upping its game a bit too but that’s for another post, at another time.

And eluding to the Hernia, let's just remember, hes played with this issue most of the season, let's just hope, when he is fully fit, his form increases!
If it does, then we could definitely see him into double figures, hopefully ones that begin with a 2!!!

I hope it’s time for Khadra to step up now with Brewsters injury & I hope Hecky gives him a chance in the old Duffy role just behind the front 2 . Shit or bust time for him really now
