A few observations from the stats:
- ranked highly in most overall stat contributions, Seriki had an excellent all round game with most successful dribbles, second most crosses, a shot, and an assist, with third most touches and a pass completion rate of 87%, as well as solid (rather than spectacular) defensive stats. He is developing very strongly (especially offensively) and alongside Burrows (most crosses, most accurate crosses, joint most tackles, joint most clearances) we have two players I hope can step up - although perhaps more likely as wing backs should we get promoted..Anel with joint most interceptions and clearances, and with our highest pass completion rate, also deserves a mention, and who alongside a stronger defender (or as the right side of a three) I still hope can play a key role should promotion occur.
- another youngster continuing to impress is Peck, with most aerial duels won (more than double anyone else), two shots (you can see he’s desperate to score!) and multiple defensive contributions, being alongside Choud (joint most tackles, most interceptions) which gave us a really solid midfield base, despite the obvious loss of Vini.
- offensively we must start with Hamer (what a free kick!) with most key passes (double the next best) so remains our creative dynamo, although he only managed one cross and no successful dribbles, so not his best overall game. Campbell and Brewster had strong stats, the former with joint most shots, but also second most key passes, an accurate crosses and a goal, along with Brewdog also with joint most shots etc, but also joint second most aerial duels won. And most positive touches than any of our forwards.
- just to mention our subs, a mixed story as regards our attacking pair. O*Hare with two key passes in his relatively short time on the pitch was a threat, whereas Cannon remains an enigma. At least he was regularly involved but whereas others exceeded their xG, Cannon did the reverse, and made some odd (desperate) choices.
Now let’s enjoy being top (at least for now) and cheer on the Swans and Bristol City! And hope Frank’s team bounces back in their next game!
UTB!
