Team vs Norwich?

Could Mcatee play LWB ? Are we expecting anyone else returning from injury?

Fleck instead of Khadra and swap them over on 60 or when Fleck is knackered.

Time to give Brewster another go.

Osborn playing 3 games in a week after coming back from such a long lay off is asking for trouble but there isn't anyone else. Could go 4 at the back with JLT at left back but unfortunately we are the only club in the country who can only play one formation.

Norwich 3/1 by the way if people like money

I really thought Robinson would be given 20/30 mins midweek to build him back up to fitness and also to give Osborn a rest.
PH doesn't seem to do those sorts of changes though.

As it is, it is hard to make a case for throwing JLT straight into 90 mins against Norwich.
It's also hard to make a case for Osborn though.
Shambles.

Who plays LWB or LCB for the U21s ?

Only 9/4 with bet365 which is still like finding money on the street, but just not as much of it.

(4-2-3-1)
Davies
Baldock Ahmedhodzic Egan Robinson
Norwood Doyle
Khadra Ndiaye McAtee
McBurnie

We’ll continue with the same formation though. RND and Lowe down the left with Ahmedhodzic at RCB revived this system but we’re now forced to play Osborn at left wing back, simply won’t work. Whatever we do one of Brewster/Khadra has to start to stretch the defence and not allow them to play so compact in their shape for the whole game, create space for Ndiaye or even McBurnie between the lines.

Might be easier If Paul just asks all those who are fit join the group on the left and all those injured stay seated.

Unless PH brings Jack Robinson in hard to see the back 5 changing from when RND went off.

Davies,

Baldock, Anel, Egan, Basham, Osborn
Norwood, Doyle,
McAtee
McBurnie, N'Diaye

Davies
Anel Egan Robinson
Baldock Norwood Doyle Osborn
Ndiaye
McBurnie Brewster

or

Doyle Norwood Fleck
Khadra Ndiaye
McBurnie

I would be playing fleck at LWB all day he is a much better option that Osborn

He has all the skills to play LWB it isn't that different to playing the Left of a 3 IMO

And with doyle performing so well you cant really drop him
So, your idea is to play 31 year old John Fleck who has played a few minutes since coming back from an injury, whose legs have pretty much gone and who is notoriously unfit after a break in the most physically intense position on the pitch?

Genius.

We are pretty screwed whatever team we put out, but I genuinely can't understand how anyone would want Brewster leading the line on his own. I've seen nothing to suggest he can do this. Hold the ball up. Play off the last defender.

Given I think we should try and play a fairly settled side in their usual spots, I'd suggest if everyone is fit enough to play:

--------------------------Davies
---Baldock-----Anel-------Egan-------Robinson------Osborn
----------------Doyle------Norwood------Fleck
---------------------Ndiaye----McBurnie

I can't see how we can play Norwood and Doyle in CM and not get completely overrun there.

We lack height without McBurnie (who was excellent defensively from corners last night - Did anyone else notice he had a free role, with no one to mark, so he could just attack the ball?)

Starting Robbo and Fleck is a risk. As is Osborn for 3 in a row post injury. But I'm not sure what choice we have really. You could play Baldock at LWB and Sachdev on the right but that's a huge punt.

Haven’t we got a young LWB, in the Under 23’s, anyone rather than Osborne who shouldn’t be near the squad even with all the injuries we have.

It will be -

Davies

Baldock - Anel - Egan - Basham - Osborn

Doyle - Norwood - Fleck

Ndiaye - Sharp

He’ll save Brewster, McB, Khadra, JLT and McAtee for the 80th minute onwards.

Utd will again have a big problem down their left side - Osborn and McAtee are lightweight, both physically and quality-wise and are likely to be dominated again, especially with an out-of-position CB behind them - Robinson will be miles off the pace and IMHO isn't good enough even when fit. Fleck, whilst also small physically, would add a bit more grit but probably isn't fit to play a full game and offers little going forward these days.

Those calling to go 4 at the back can't have watched the Stoke game.

That back 4 we had out against Stoke is nothing like the back 4 we can put out on Saturday. I'm not saying it will be work but it's ridiculous we are so tied to one system to the point where even with no defenders we still have to play it.

Boyes is at Forest Green. Sadly.

I think we could play a back 4 if we have a midfielder in front of them. We don't have one of those really. Basham maybe.

Giving you

------------Davies
Baldock-Anel-Egan-Robinson
-----------Basham
-------Doyle---Norwood
---------------McAtee
--------Ndiaye
----------McBurnie

Not convinced myself that Basham can do that. Osbourn is your only other shield and he's too lightweight really.

If we had an actual left sided defender fit, I'd suggest

------------Davies
Baldock-Egan-Robinson---Stevens
-----------Anel
-------Doyle---Norwood
--------------McAtee
--------Ndiaye
----------McBurnie

Then again, if we had one fit we could play a back 5!

I think you could ask Norwood to sit in front of the back 4 with Doyle and maybe Fleck in front. It's not ideal and we may get overrun but maybe it's worth giving something else a go while we have these Injuries. I just don't think you can say a back 4 won't work when the only time we've tried it under Hecky was with a defence featuring Gordon and Basham

Just saying, I'd be gutted if I was Ben Osborn. I'm not defending his last couple of performances, but he's bloody clearly not match fit- he's showing committment by turning out for us when he looks a mile off the pace compared to normal, and he gets slaughtered for it.

Bogle against QPR looked a mile off- he looked shattered after 20 minutes, was left on far too long (that ended well by the way). But it was a bit hard to fault him when you could see it from a mile off.

I'm not saying Osborn's the best player we've seen and I know he has tended to struggle at left wing back. But at least be fair- if you're faulting him for those last couple, it's got to be the bloke making him play you point the finger at, not just say Osborn's shit.

Whoever goes in defence, they are going to have to be more switched on with Pukki and his pace. I’d go
Davis
Baldock Anel Egan Robinson Fleck
Doyle Norwood
N’Diaye
Brewster Billy

He did improve as the game went on, until he tired. I think he'd be fine if we had everyone else fit. Plating behind Doyle is problematic because Doyle isn't the best defensively and there's no kind of understanding.

In an ideal world he plays 60 minutes in the last 2 but there is nobody else. He has undoubtedly been poor but he's coming off the back of a long time out and being asked to play 3 90 minute games a week. I think we all know how it's going to end
