Philly is supposed to be a very nippy and knows how to find the net.
IMO we should let him have a go. Give him chance to show what he's made of and who knows. Perhaps make it into the first team perminantly

I agree with you, we have to start with 2 up front this evening, yes the 1st part is done getting a draw away from home, but we really looked toothless going forward with just Porter upfront.
Cressy and Porter will pair upfront this evening for sure, but I agree to put Philliskirk in with Porter and leave Cressy for later on as he isnt match fit and HOPEFULLY we will need him at the back end of May.

Not to put too fine a point on it, that would be madness.

The guy has not played a league game all season; persuambly becuse he is not very good. Why would we pitch him into our biggest game of the season?

He has then spent some time at Oxford on loan and didn't achieve much - remember some less than complimentary comments from Oxford fans about him.
Not sure he has the quality to make it in the league.

I think I'd rather go with one 'unknown' such as Ironside rather than Porter.

It pains me to single out individual players and I'll usually defend them to the hilt, but even if he scores, I think he's so detrimental to the flow of our game that he does more harm than good.

It's not for his finishing that's the certain. Porter would be useful at holding up the ball, except when it comes to him it bounces 5 yards in the opposite direction whether to head, chest or feet.

Personally i think Quinny had a good game friday. Did the roll well. Wonder if DW will play quinn there again. Or could stick Willo upfront and have Quinn and Flynn on the wings

Quyinny is one player i would hate to play against , he is round your ankles like a mad Chiwowah , and not fed up with biting them once , he does it 3 or 4 times before moving on with the ball.

That forward line would depress me.

Cresswell has to start IMO, and I'd rather Quinn have the same role as the other night than push him back to the left of the midfield 4.

Crewswell will play tonight. He'll also be hauled off at the first sight of daylight between the two teams.

I also think Porter will benefit having him alongside him. I know they are a dim and distant memory but he has scored a few important goals this season and they all come when he was playing in a 2 (and where they other part of that 2 wasnt shit).

I feel a bit for Porter, his record isnt THAT shabby. He scored a few goals early doors and then fell foul of Ched & Cressy forging an unbreakable partnership. His other shots after than were in nothing cup games, when the team was broken and disjointed or playing alien roles in needs must situations like Friday. Hardly the best situations to come in and be expected to hit the ground running.

In summary, Cressy and Porter have enough in there locker as a duo to worry Stevenage.

Frightening thing to me heard DW on the Radio this morning, saying he might play the same way at BL, as he played at Stevenage, I think the interview was straight after the Stevenage game, and maybe kidology, but could he serously play the same formation tonight. To me we need to go and win it, not hope to hit them on the break

Although I can't see us playing the same formation and containing game as we did Friday, IF we did then we'd have to ensure that the midfield played closer to the Striker than the centre halfs.

Reckon he'll go 4-4-2 anyway, Porter and Cresswell up top.

Im just praying Williamson/Lowton/MacD are on top of their game - if they are I can only see one winner.

Except we went at them 2 weeks ago and were 2 down after 46 mins. We can`t rely on another comback.

looking at cooperblade 's stats thread, Stevenage seem to do better against teams that come at them. There are very good reasons for not going hell bent tonight...

We could actually play the same formation and play a completely different game.

Rather than leave the lone striker, be it Porter or Cresswell, with no support, Quinn, Flynn and Williamson are all well capable of pushing right up and creating problems for Stevenage. Doyle could sit in front of the defence and McDonald would be the lynchpin holding it all together.

Play it right like we're more than capable of and I think it could be very effective.

Sorry Brownie, I disagree. He wasn't that good in the air because he was always too busy looking at the defender rather than the ball that was being hoofed his way. It was very rare that he'd win a flick on or take it down on the chest because he was too busy wrestling. Hed never look at the ball which was very frustrating. I honestly think Porter is just as effective aerially, if not moreso because he gives less fouls away.

Hendo's red cards to games ratio would probably have been even higher than Beattie's as well. We did right to offload him and his wages, fines and reputation. He wasn't hard done to, just dirty.

If we want another striker suspended then yes Darius would be an ideal choice.

Hendo's red cards to games ratio would probably have been even higher than Beattie's as well. We did right to offload him and his wages, fines and reputation. He wasn't hard done to, just dirty.

I think he would have least scored a few this season, so to have a higher ration than 2/0 would have been some feat!

I said red cards to games, not red cards to goals. I agree he'd probably have scored a couple but don't think he'd have set the division alight like some believe. I think having him in the team would have been detrimental to Ched as well. Him and Cressy work really well together.
