Listening to the Warnock video, he was good at knowing when to do extra trainings or when to give them extra time off. (Something Wilder had a good instinct for too)

Get the feeling hecky is more of a perfectionist tho and demands everyone know their role inside out and keep training to keep it from going sloppy. Now might be a good time to reduce number of training sessions.

Nailed on thread of the season this

It'll get bumped back up in 10 years when we're trying to pinpoint what triggered our latest decade in the wilderness

Has Matt Prestridge left Boro along with Wilder?

Might be an idea to try and get him back. We had our best ever run with injuries under him, 3 years and barely a thing, apart from that cunt Sordell's last act before fucking off into retirement

Ironically as long as Hecky is telling the truth about Anel and Bogle, (precautionary not worth risking vs Stoke) then we could have one of our strongest back lines against B'pool.

RWB: Bogle
RCB: Anel
CB: Egan
LCB: RND (played equally well at lcb as he has lwb)
LWB: Ozzy (put in more crosses in the short time he was on than anyone else in the team)

Flip side to that, Bogle and Anel injuries flare up so can't play, and Egans knock takes it's toll... then we're royally up shits creek.

Cotton wool and no training please Hecky!

Prestridge might be good at his actual job if he stuck to it but our downturn happened when he started being in Wilder's ear all game every week and acting like he was assistant manager

With a fair wind, the starting line-up looks something like:

-------------------Wes
Bogle---Anel-----Egan-----Basham----RND
----------Doyle-------Norwood-----Osborn
-------------Ndiaye--------McBurnie

Subs: Davies, Sachdev, Arblaster, McAtee, Brewster, Khadra, Sharp

Which isn't too shabby

nah fuck Basham right out out of there.

At best he's been 5/6 out of 10 even in his better games.

Why play a square peg in a round hole when he have norrington-davies who can play LCB and Ozzy who can play LWB

At this point, I want us doing the bare minimum of training possible, to maintain a basic level of cardio fitness. Let the know-how of the system and instincts cover the rest on a match day.

I'd agree but I don't want to see us putting players straight back out into 90 minute games.
We need to be so careful over this next few weeks. The World Cup break presents us with a huge opportunity to get our season back on track with returnees. Would rather "sacrifice" a few points for a full bill of health.

Two ways of looking at it:

We’ve got so many injuries we’ve no chance of continuing this auto promotion challenge

Or

We’ve managed to stay top despite a huge injury crisis. 4/5 sound like they’ll be back within a week or two so we have a chance to rebuild a lead

I just think the last three or four seasons have been so out of the ordinary in terms of postponements and lack of a pre season for one reason or another I.e covid that these kind of injury pile ups are inevitable ,the reason we have suffered more than most is from how teams fucked us over last season with postponements and most of our problems seem to stem from there

I'd rather play Basham and Osborn (in midfield) than start with Ndiaye, McAtee or Khadra in CM. Whatever you do, someone is going to be playing out of position. The last few games we've struggled defensively in midfield. Too easy to play through. At least Osborn ads some energy there. We need to get something from the next game. I'd rather keep it tight. We were far too open yesterday. I doubt Osborn can last 90 minutes so at lest he could share CM duties with Arblaster.

Agreed. I'm just thinking if in the scenario our injury crisis is more down to our fitness/training/rehab methods and not the state of the training pitches (I know these are supposed to be sorted and available early next month) then that full bill of health you mentioned won't last very long once we resume in late Dec/early Jan.

However no point in worrying about it now, I suppose we'll see in about 3 months time what our injury list will look like then.

It's a long season in a very even league ,how many other teams in this league would be top with our injury list.
We've earned a bit of time and breathing space with our early season form,if we can ride this injury crisis out and stay in touch then happy days.

I think Hecky, Jack and McCall are being accused of amazing levels of incompetence. You’ve got three people who’ve managed clubs, run academies and coached for their entire post-playing careers. If they’re not reviewing everything they do, in terms of training, injury management etc then they’re doing an incredibly bad job and running a professional club like a shit Sunday league team.
Do people imagine they sit around going “got a lot of injuries Hecky”
‘Yeah Jack, reight bad luck tha knos. Wunt be owt we’re doing’
“Nowt wi training then?”
‘Gi o’er, can’t be, thi only running abaht a bit, ‘ow can that get thee injured?’

A really good article by Nathan Hemmingham here with some interesting insights from PH.

16 of our squad have already spent time out injured this season.
By my reckoning around 12 are out now (Davies, Bogle, Baldock, Anel, Clark, Robinson, O'Connell, Stevens, Lowe, Fleck, Coulibaly, Berge).

Main takeaways:
8/16 injuries have occurred during matches, 4/16 in training and 4/16 down to general or long-term issues.
5/16 have been through contact and 10/16 are muscle and soft tissue.

Have a read.

Didn't Davies come back other week? Strange it's mainly defenders getting injured and not flair players. (Not naming)

Hemmingham has just filled a gap in information from PH. Not particularly insightful in my opinion. Many supporters will have come to a similar conclusion.

The three reasons given to explain injuries are irrelevant now. Pre season was fine this year. Players filling gaps in the team due to others injuries, means a group of players getting more minutes than is ideal.
We have a new fitness coach, but players keep getting injured? No word from Dr Tom yet?

The training pitches will be a big improvement, NEXT month.

It can only be put down to a bad run of luck, and the managers decision making. It was obvious Berge needed resting, but PH didn’t see it.

Anel back immediately makes us stronger. Then we just need one of JLT, Clark, Enda, or Lowe back to have a pretty much first choice back 5. In fact, you can add Baldock to that list, if we're willing to accept Bogz playing on the left (not ideal, but better than nothing).

Midfield and attack we've been fairly robust I think, apart from Berge out now. Khadra or McAtee can play Berge's role. Up front we've decent competition, with Highland Haaland back and Brewster scoring last weekend.

Not trained properly for 7 weeks is appalling, and the reason why we’ve been terrible from Preston onwards…. get them on the training pitch Hecky……
