Ched ......... is this nearer the truth ?

This case has set a precedent or you would of thought so had a Mr Goodwillie been sent down for the exact same thing.

Think this thread needs merging with the Evans one.

I'm still waiting for a reasoned post from someone deconstructing the verdict. All there has been on the case is a bunch of feminist articles. I've made comments on articles querying the verdict, and I've been immediately hounded by a pack of righteous liberals. It seems people are too scared to talk about it. Interesting that the post on the link is anonymous

Exactly right mate. The sort of people who just want to chop every blokes bollocks off.

Makes a rather funny read that none of them think there is not the remote possibility that a person could ever be wrongly convicted.

On another forum I was accused of being a misogynist because I dared suggest there may not have been a rape at all.

Thats the impression I get aswell.

Also, a lot of people (who blatantly haven't read the first thing about the case) simply argue "She said no so therefore its rape". Well, errr, actually, not once in the whole case did the prosecution say that she said no!!

Great article. As a female I am incensed by the liberals and women's groups, this should be about justice and not getting a guilty verdict for the wrong reasons.

Well found.
A different perspective from elsewhere to again cast doubt. and this below sums up how uncomfortable this verdict is.

''The problem is, it's so much easier to catch a "rapist" who never thought he was one, than to stalk, catch and prove the guilt of a real sexual predator''.

sorry, but it reads to me like a load of male chauvinist rubbish.

Women have nothing to celebrate either. The real rapists and serial wife batterers should be investigated and prosecuted. The problem is, it's so much easier to catch a "rapist" who never thought he was one, than to stalk, catch and prove the guilt of a real sexual predator, especially with the underfunded law enforcement that – like all of us – lives in the age of austerity.
Sadly true.

Liberal:

adj.
Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

It's about the same standard as all the other reports/comments on the Ched Evans trial - just biased in a different direction

On another forum I was accused of being a misogynist because I dared suggest there may not have been a rape at all.
you mean they think you have Male AND Female genitals ? :D
it does appear a new precedent has been set by this case, ie if a girl is gang raped but too drunk/high to remember then ALL the defendants face a 50/50 chance of getting off.
I think its a joke tbh, if a drunk driver runs me over but cant remember doing it, does that make him innocent?

MunXy

I think thats what we all thought but darent say it for fear of being none "PC" or "Chauvinistic".

Munich - if it is a chauvinistic approach could you enlighten us as to why 1 got off??

Thing is on every jury you'll get 2 or 3 that turn up and their mind is made up. Get 1 or 2 feminists. Then get a couple of an older generation who think the very idea of a 3some is some disgusting sordid sex act that is only performed by xrated 'scum of the earth' pornstar. The rest on the jury would've just got out voted.

Except that no-one was out-voted. The verdict was unanimous.

As a fully paid up rightheous liberal and feminist sympathiser, I have to say that the article is hysterical nonsense (on a par with the wilder shores of feminist hysterical nonsense). Leaving aside the actual facts of Evans' case, does anyone really think that men should be freely able to have sex with women too drunk to know what is going on? That's what the article appears to be suggesting.

I agree that the article is mostly bunk, but it's a shame there doesn't seem to be much discourse that trods a path between the two extremes.

I'd like to propose a little thought experiment.

You go for a night out with your mates and get absolutely smashed. You wake up naked in an hotel bedroom with no idea how you got there and no memory of the night. Your anus feels sore and, on examining it, you feel a sticky substance there. You get dressed and speak to the receptionist. He tells you came in a last night with a Mr Johnson and that he departed at 3am.

Would you just shrug it off and go home?
