Liverpool are trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan today.
There is still work to be done to complete the deal but bringing in the 26-year-old Brazil international would ease the club’s injury problems in midfield.
Jordan Henderson came off in Wednesday's win against Newcastle United with a hamstring issue and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp says he will “definitely not be available” for the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.
Henderson joins Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the list of injured Liverpool midfielders

Apparently he’s set off on a flight to Liverpool loan until end of season

He's basically saying nothing has changed. Not sure why people think it's bad news
What worried me is that we are still talking with Bruges, we will know from those discussions if there is any chance the release clause can be met by them, it won’t be. For there to be ongoing discussions and we have clearly got a replacement lined up makes me fear we may do some sort of deal with Bruges for lower than the release clause. Maybe I’m reading to much into it but it’s usually a NO this is the price come back when you can match it, to still be talking is worrying for me.

Aye.

Talking to them could literally just mean they’ve asked once or twice if we’d changed our minds yet or if we’d got a figure in mind.

I doesn’t mean we’ve necessarily initiated any conversation or are actively negotiating at all.

Depends if the “talking to” is us saying “show us the £35m or fuck off” though I suppose

That could just be a fancy description of Bruge ringing up every day to say "please, go on"

Can't see him leaving to Brugge now as they'll not pay what we want at this stage; I would have thought as it's last minute it'll be more expensive than earlier in the window when they were making a bid/s. If he goes now it will likely be for decent money hence most likely to be the domestic market which as we know is the richest in the world.

My only concern is the possibility of Villa losing Douglas Luiz or Mendonca ;) leaving Wolves. That worries me slightly that they'll come in for Sander.

Does anyone else think he isn't quiiiiite ready for the top flight yet? Perhaps I'd just rather he not go and I'm trying to justify him staying

Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not knocking the lad, he's obviously very good and certainly destined for more than United but sometimes I feel he can be a little inconsistent and laboured. All stuff that will certainly disappear with experience and maturity but perhaps there's a reason he hasn't been snapped up already.

I think he'd be an excellent addition to a possession heavy, top-end team where he's surrounded by quality players.

I think he'd be struggling in a high pressing Leeds-type team, a team in a relegation battle, or a team where he's expected to be the main man in midfield.

I just don't think he currently holds the mentality to grab a match by the scruff of the neck and impose himself on the game. He does it for us fleetingly or when we're on top, but he's still prone to go missing for periods when the going gets tough. There's a reason why Norwood is still the key man in our midfield.

Ah shit. That site is usually spot on with transfers and has been all summer

Nathan hemmingam set alarm bells ringing by saying we were still in conversation this morning. Be a shame to lose him at this stage and with him playing well

Thought we might luck into keeping him!

We should have put a cut off point for him to be transferred. Losing him on last day is not good

The tweets been deleted. There's still hope.

This story has one source, none of the respected journalists have quoted anything

Undisclosed fee for a club not the in the Premier League and the world is safe from the sight of alcoblade 's posterior for another year at least.

Silver linings :)

As soon as I saw that, I just gulped and thought oh no. To get to transfer deadline though, that's a sickener and to Brugge is a bit disappointing from a selfish perspective because it's not a high quality league in comparison to the Premier League and that is where we're hopefully gpoing; granted they're one of the biggest teams in Belgium.

There best be a very good player lined up is all I can say, not so sure Styles will do that, I would assume if it is him that Doyle does to the right and Styles competes for the left centre mid.

Is it just me that thinks Club Brugge would be a backwards step, career wise? Can't see Sander wanting that move above others or staying here and making it to the Prem.

Also, this.... I mean, they're skint now surely and would need to more than double the national record to hit the release clause.

Club Brugge smashed the Belgian league transfer record when they signed Ukraine striker Roman Yaremchuk from Benfica for a reported 16 million euros on Tuesday.

United selling would be frankly weird if it isn't for 20 million +. If he avoids serious injury there's no world in which he's worth less than the tire kicker bids at the end of the season. So we've potentially dealt a big blow to our promotion hopes for what?

Incidentally my mate saw Berge in the Mercure after the match Tuesday. Probably just meeting family or something, but it makes you think.

Personally really would be sad for him to go, but we've got khadra, macatee and Ndiaye (young Arblaster as well not sure if this lad isn't more of a Doyle)
If we can stick a cheeky quick bid for bowler
Or another good loan
Still think hemmingways a tosser

They're in the champions league which is obviously the biggest pull but they will probably get knocked out of the group stage. Surely he would rather try and get in premier league rather than go back to the Belgian league.
