McBurnie this season, is like a totally different player. He has clearly worked on bulking himself up, he looks stronger and fitter than at any time since he has been at the club. On top of that he has upped his work rate considerably, closing down the opposition, even sprinting and is looking like a player, it has been great to see and the 2 goals in consecutive games are just reward for his efforts.
But I’m afraid, as far as I’m concerned this sudden upturn in effort and professionalism, does not absolve him of the complete lack of professionalism and minimal effort that he has exhibited during the previous two years. During that time, he was unfit and was purely going through the motions on a Saturday. Out on the piss, fighting with chavs and drink driving, mind not on the game, heart not in it, which was glaringly reflected in his performances.
Over the last two seasons, I‘ll willingly identify as a McBurnie critic, but I’ve never said he was shit, because frankly, I don’t think he’s been that good
