McBurnie

I don't want this to be taken as a negative on McBurnie, nor used by someone to suggest it's all he's good at because that's not what I mean at all, but I'm not sure I can recall a striker whose been so good at defensive set pieces.
McGoldrick was also excellent at the same job to be fair to him. Like a magnet!

McBurnie well on the way to getting a new contract hopefully.

9 aerial duals won? Out of how many? Great defensive headers but woeful offensive headers. Fantastic finish today but I thought he was bang average otherwise.

Completely disagree. Closed players down, played some lovely short passes and linked up with Ndiaye really well. It's a hard life as a striker for the Blades, feeding on scraps most of the time and chasing shadows the rest. Him, Ndiaye and Doyle were all excellent today.

I agree. Ndiaye and Doyle were excellent.

Let's not forget he's playing injured as well. Faded badly towards the end but his first half performance was right up there.

Ndiaye is from another planet, too good for the Championship. At times he had 2 or 3 defenders to deal with and he still finds a way through. They looked scared to death as soon as he got the ball. Doyle was also excellent for a young player lots of potential.

McBurnie this season, is like a totally different player. He has clearly worked on bulking himself up, he looks stronger and fitter than at any time since he has been at the club. On top of that he has upped his work rate considerably, closing down the opposition, even sprinting and is looking like a player, it has been great to see and the 2 goals in consecutive games are just reward for his efforts.

But I’m afraid, as far as I’m concerned this sudden upturn in effort and professionalism, does not absolve him of any responsibility for the complete lack of professionalism and minimal effort that he has exhibited during the previous two years. During that time, he was unfit and was purely going through the motions on a Saturday. Out on the piss, fighting with chavs and drink driving, mind not on the game, heart not in it, which was glaringly reflected in his performances and goal tally.

Over the last two seasons, I‘ll willingly identify as a huge McBurnie critic, but I’ve never said he was shit, because frankly, I don’t think he’s been that good.

Let’s hope he maintains, these new found levels of fitness, energy and enthusiasm, if he does, I think he’ll regain the form that he showed at Swansea and I think, tbh he owes the club that much. 🤔
Dunno maybe he's just grown up?

I think even for the goal he scored he was within himself. Most players would be in a full sprint there trying to take away a defender or run into space. He was jogging. I think that's the reason he cut inside too.

Worked out well though!

What a fuckin ludicrous assessment of McBurnies performance today. Do you think you could play 90 minutes professional football with a hernia? The only woeful thing here is your comments. Bang below average.

Shearer.

If only McB could be as good as him at the other end 😍

Genuinely very glad to see him banging them in

I predicted this at the start of the season.
Like Ched Evans and other players…..when a player is in the final year of their contract they are playing for their futures
So what a coincidence that suddenly those players have a big upturn in form.

Conversely you see it so often that as soon as a player signs a big lucrative contract they have a sudden dip in form.
By this broad logic wouldn't clubs only give everyone 1yr contracts?

TBF I imagine/agree comfy lucrative contracts have ruined a few players. That's human nature probably.

McBurnie always seemed to be trying, so I'm not sure it's fair to suggest he's only started trying this season.

Has to be our most improved player. Not only scored but defended magnificently too. Great contribution.
Yeah probably so, but he has spent the last two seasons engineering himself a huge head start over the rest of the squad, to make himself a shoo-in for the award 😉
