Points begging for away games

And assuming 2,500 - 3,000 is the maximum we can take to most away games

How does somebody in 3,001st place onwards get more loyalty points?
By attending cup matches which we're often eliminated from in the opening game. At 50 points a game you'd need to attend 1000 games and hope no one in front of you attended any matches in that period.

Same, I've enough for first day of sale. My issue has always been trying to sit with my 2 lads. The eldest travels with his mates now he's old enough but when they were younger it was impossible to get to games together as we had to wait until the youngest's threshold was met. It often irked me when travelling without them to see kids apparently younger than my own sat with their parents at the game. The current loyalty system doesn't reward current loyalty it rewards past loyalty. Someone with maximum loyalty points could buy a ticket for every away game and never attend a single match but instead sell on their ticket. They will remain at the top of the loyalty tree so to speak. I appreciate it suits many and that there are no easy answers.
I'm same atm,my twins are 12yrs old had season tickets for 6yrs got 18k points, but love going to away games, managed 10 last year and done boro so far this year, but having to wait until it gets to their points to get tickets as I there not old enough to travel alone, and then you get them begging/asking for points off other blades does fuck me off greatly.

I know it's someone's choice. That doesn't make it not selfish.
I could choose to push in front of you at the bar, wouldn't make it a reasonable act...
No captain it wouldn’t but let’s look at this seriously if your lad wanted to go with his pals for argument sake and he were only one without a ticket would you think oh Tom or Fred from Darnell want a ticket I betters not get you one son yet. 🤔

No need to be a dick about it pal, I never accused you of doing anything.
I haven’t you pal but you misinterpreted what’s I said I said it’s a matter of opinion and you said it weren’t you discredited my opinion quite rude

I questioned if it was a matter of opinion or not, this is a football forum, where we disucss sometimes conflicting views. If you don't like your opinion being questioned maybe you're in the wrong place.

Fair enough but I’m someone who’s family moved to Sheffield and we don’t have an extended family or friends to borrow off unless I asked on here. Started going away to a few games last season and doing a few more this year but it does shut out newer fans if people keep playing the system.

However the ballot has been great, we’re going to Luton on Friday courtesy of the 10% the club hold back.
Aren't you an example of the system working then? Only started going away last year so you're, quite rightly, behind a lot of others who have been going for years but you've managed to get one of the tickets held back for that very reason?

Let’s look at this seriously pal away tickets are like gold dust I have always respected fellow blades but sometimes it’s if your not first your last there has to be a bit of honour admittedly but I think people are only worried about there own personal family and pals would you agree?

I would definitely agree, completely agree with you. I think the system should take that into account to stop people taking advantage

Thought it was only really an issue in the Premier League. Can’t recall any arguments about it last season.

How many tickets do the club hold back for players to give out? Probably only happens for bigger games but Sky kept showing Gibbs-White’s Mrs in the away end at Forest. Thought it took the piss that she was there in a 2k allocation when many of us just missed out.

Spot on pal talk about a pisshead calling a drunk man stupid so to speak

10 outta 23 away games last season isn't bad at all pal.

It’s not like I’m stopping someone from going to an FA Cup final. I’ve lived in this area for a fair few years now and just asking for a favour to get to the game, I’d understand if it was a big game, but it’s only Hull City.

here we go all the shirts are released lets try and get this to 2K posts on the perennial "bigger blade" argument.

in my view the current system needs reviewing like the pigs have in place so that younger fans can attend ( cue someone postsing whose son is 10 and has 50000 pts in 5...4....3....2....1...)

This is a subject that crops up time and time again. Many think the system is flawed and at a considerable disadvantage to younger supporters. (Which I agree with) There’s no easy fix but credit United who have introduced the ballot system to help combat the situation slightly. There’s little doubt the system is abused though. I’m not complaining because my daughter does the same. She will attend roughly 14-18 away matches this season (plus the pre season ones) Where possible she will use her own points but if there’s the slightest doubt she will use someone else’s points to guarantee her ticket. In league 1 it wasn’t a problem but since Wilder took over she will probably “borrow” points more often than top her own up

Yeah agree, it’s working alright and particularly in the Championship. There are fans who have been a lot more ‘loyal’ than me if that’s the word and travel all over to follow the team and they should of course get priority.

I guess what I was trying to get at is with those who aren’t actually going to the games but are lending out their numbers so that they can keep building their points. Lending a number to a mates kid gets the younger generation there at games, but not via a legitimate system building up a new generation of points.

How widespread this practice is we can’t ever really know, but seems to be something people mention whenever this comes up on here

My son is grounded for 1 week does this count 👍👍

Hold on helmet don’t wet your knickers I don’t do it I can’t do away games because of time and family/children but if someone else wants to give there tickets to someone else who is anyone to comment
The person who would have had enough points otherwise can comment.
It's obvious. If somebody on 40k gives or sells their ticket to somebody they don't know who has no points, then somebody on 20k misses out.
The newcomer has pushed in.
It not knicker wetting. It's called having a normal discussion.

That's why it's up to the club to set it up fairly.
Just giving examples of what somebody might do isn't how most things are organised.

No, I genuinely feel bad for people that get pushed in front of, whether they're my friends/family or not.

If those who have thousands of points go to every home and most away games you literally have no chance whatsoever of ever catching up until they die and even then, those who were just behind them fill that spot.

So you’ll be waiting years before you get anywhere near the top of the pecking order when it comes to loyalty points.

Has anyone worked out how many points you can earn per season on the basis you’re a ST holder and go to 15 away games per season? Are the points for away games the same or does it vary on the opponent? Then there is cup games to take into account..

I’m interested in going to one or two away games this season, no idea if I’ll even get a ticket for me and my dad (I’m sure the Boro game went to general sale), but that doesn’t bother me really. I just want to start building up my points as I’ve not got loads due to how many complementary tickets I’ve had in the past.

Loyalty Points Dons are the worst. Demanding you bring them a free Bovril and swiping your pie out of your hands, taking a bite and then tossing it over their shoulder.

“Don Brian, why can’t I sit with you at away games?”

“You’re a good kid Rodley, but you’re not like us. I can trace 60,000 loyalty points through my family bloodline. It’s it goes back as far as the old days, the Chris Porter days”

Just see the same faces at away games. Not fair on the young uns

So if you see the same faces at away games this must mean that these faces go to most away games thats why they have the loyalty points and if they do that why shouldnt they be able to attend away games thats surely showing loyalty
I know its difficult for the younger ones but thate are games where they get to general sale then there is the ballot system

not neccesarily i know of people who havent set foot in an away ground for years and just lend the number for the points

Oh Dear...
"Until they die...'
The TicketGangs use dead people routinely to get tickets. The current system for away tickets is - loyalty points AND membership (and a Season Ticket counts as membership).
When one of the TicketGang dies, there's a bit of slight of hand about change of address & email. A membership card is purchased to continue the lineage. The cost of the membership is peanuts in comparison to the flexibility it gives for away tickets. Many well known, even "famous" old Blades are under the sod, but very much alive on the SUFC ticket system.

Maybe once a season, if I really need a ticket for someone else, I'll call that in with the Ticket GangMaster & use a dead number. And of course, the person I'm getting the ticket for is now in Karma Debt to the TicketGang. He/She/They will have to pay some Karma. A lift, an U21 teamsheet, getting an early pub in Worcester, etc.

And the world turns...

Interesting, makes sense and a good way to keep it ticking over. Though I have a feeling this method will be culled eventually, once they notice membership numbers have been to every game in the last 107 years.

and cue Ball_Sup (Phil) to relate how the "gang master" system operates :)
The Carrier Bag Firm "endgame" is for United to ask US how to sort the away ticket fiasco out so it's fair. We know every Blag going. The ultimate Blag will be my Ticket GangMaster being guaranteed an extra 20 for every away game in exchange for information on how the other Blags work and how to close them.

As I've said before, we have CBF who work for the club - medical side, hospitality, ticket office - you have to have a network, you just have to...🤓

I'm going to swear here. How the roaring Fuck are they going to notice that. It's a computer. You put the deceased Customer Number in. Have they got enough points. Check. Have they got a current membership. Check.....

(Robotic Voice) - send ticket to Carrier Bag Firm Towers...🤓
