Thoughts on the kit?

Like all the kits to be honest.

Not bad for a first effort, and clearly one which wasn’t without some hitches logistically and planning wise.

Step up the quality of them and I’d be tempted to purchase.

Ok, my thoughts throughout:

Home kit - simple, basic, hard to be inoffensive. Minimalism and simple designs can look classy. Glad to see stripes all over! 😍 Like black shorts and socks. Decent design, but the quality, material and finish appears to leave lots to be desired.

Home GK kit - great design idea, not seen quality as yet.

Away kit - good initial idea, the design had the potential to be sensational. The execution of the actual design, the quality and the finish is dreadful. It looks poor. Poor stripe, poor collar, just poor . The material is bloody woeful and so cheap and sweaty.

Away GK kit - basic, smacks of a template, uninspiring. No imagination.

Third kit - undecided. Initial reaction: sleek, the classier one of the lot, but also with an air of a bit too basic. At risk of looking like training gear. No idea on the quality yet.

Third GK kit - same reflections as third kit. Could be classy, could sell really well.

For me, the main issues remain: quality, quality control, material, finish. Cheap, sweaty, poor wearing, step down in brand image for Adidas, step down in quality of material from Adidas. Poor, poor customer service, poor delivery times and awful communication from club and manufacturer throughout.

I'll check them all out and see how the quality stacks up, however there's not a chance I'm paying that price range for a lower standard manufacturer. Get real. I'm likely to go for a home shirt, assuming it isn't utter toss quality, when they're down to about £15-20, because that's realistically what they're worth based on quality/finish.

The stripes on the back are welcome back. UTB. ⚔️

So in effect you've spent a whole post slagging off the quality and finish etc etc but haven't actually checked them out yet let alone bought one or gone to actually try one on to check the quality??

Will the third kit have matching black shorts and socks or possibly gold shorts and socks with black trim?

To keep this thread heading towards 200 pages, here’s a comment that could explode.

Football clubs want to be fan friendly, eco-friendly and keep kits sensibly priced (allegedly) but not one manufacturer has come up with a reversible kit yet that has the Home colours on one side and Away colours on the other.

The capability is there, Jama has been producing them for ages, the will is not.

Reversible kits would allow for a safe Third strip and a mental Fourth strip every year!

Buy two get four! Now that’s a more attractive deal in the club shop!

Manufacturing the replicas this way for fans makes so much more sense, especially for the regular away day supporters.

Obviously the official players’s shirts would continue to be produced in their usual manner.

No no, now now. Seen the quality of some, but not of others. Namely today's releases and whilst admittedly, I haven't seen the quality of the away first hand, I'm heading horror stories enough to know not to try that!

3rd GK > Home GK > Home Shirt > Away Shirt > 3rd Shirt > Away GK

I'll also buy the home shirt when it's cheap just to add it to the collection, if it's cheap I'm not fussed about the quality. I'm guessing the 3rd GK will be as rare as rocking horse shit but I would like to get that one as it looks really smart, I might have to pay full price for that one as I can't see there being any left when it comes to reducing the prices.

It's been done before, Man Utd did it and England have done it a couple of times. Not many examples I admit but still.......

Interesting. Missed them both. Struggle to understand why it hasn’t caught on then. Obviously football’s masters of economics may have suppressed it as a concept!

So to confirm you've not seen the away or the 3rd kits. Gotcha 👍

FWIW I saw loads wearing the new home top at the Millwall game and the quality didn't look any different to any other kit we've had.

Seconded. The burgundy keeper kit is the stand out but I fear the quality will let it down.

Far too many examples from just a small sample size, including images from club promo videos, of poor quality. I do think a fair few are blinded by bias of the blades badge [poorly] attached to it. If it was any other clubs kit the people saying it's beautiful, or the best in years or any other praise wouldn't be saying the same.

I'll buy one as and when they're reduced in price. Just so I've got one for the collection.

Third shirt is an just a black Middlesbrough shirt. Nice leisure shirt though.

Best thread in decades! Brilliantly OTT

Suggestion:

Entire squad gets off the tram at Cathedral Square in all three versions of the 2023/24 kits.

They then play keepy uppy all the way up Fargate, across the Peace Gardens, down The Moor, through the St Mary's underpass and up to Bramall Lane.

Make 'em walk to the ground like the rest of us! ;)

Simples.
:)
Having been that way recently? Bet they could film the whole thing at least to the Moor without passing another person.

Just wondering if the quality issues and really late announcements are linked in anyway with the production being rushed. will the quality get better after a couple of months when demand slows down and the child labourers don't have as many shirts to make.
