The past two games iv seen him play have frustrated and annoyed me. The kid lacks any defensive capabilities e.g tracking oposing players and closing down. Good run to get one on one tonight but a half hearted flick somes him up in my opinion. Anyone else agree?
UTB FTO

Don't think he's much of a footballer really, has pace but didn't do anything with the ball. Should have scored tonight to make it 6, if he does that when we actually need a goal we'd be furious.

How is he so highly thought of at bolton? Times that hard?

No idea. He's fast, and that can be a huge asset, especially in the English leagues (look at Walcott). He sounded better in the last game, but based on tonight I'm not holding much hope for him. He was partnered with Porter the whole time though, I'm sure he'd play better with someone like Evans at his side.

Lads not getting a lot of action really is he. He knew he'd screwed up when he missed that chance tonight. He was over near where I was sat when the final whistle went and you could see he was still furious. He's with us on loan as backup. Lets not kick him into touch just yet.

Not relying on loan players is one reason why we've been successful this year. He does seem to neglect his defensive duties and is similar to Lee Martin (remember him?) in this respect. His pace and ability to chase on to a ball provides something different to what we already have and may be useful in up-coming games. But I wouldn't count on it.

His reaction and lack of respect for us at the end of the game was disgusting. I'm told it was the same last saturday.

Bit harsh. What do you mean? Perhaps as he's not been here long and might not consider himself part of the 'team', he might feel a bit awkward receiving adulation from the crowd when he feels he's not deserved of it yet.

I've seen every minute of his Blades career so far, and i've not been impressed.

He has got a lot of pace, and offers us something different if we need it, but i don't see much of an end product, he seems to run down blind alleys a bit too much, and doesn't seem to have the composure or vision to play a killer ball.

I think his biggest asset, and he is most useful when brought on to run at tired defenders, but that is about it.

Last night showed the gulf between our first XI and what else we have to offer. I know the game was won but once Cresswell and Ched went off so did the threat.

I can see why we did it though. The game was well and truly won after an hour, why risk Cresswell and Ched getting injured for longer than necessary?

On a different point, i thought was Cresswell was superb last night.

Agree totally. Ched was cramped and Cressy had a bit of a hissy fit when taken off but looked fucked. He led the line very well and worked exceptionally hard. Faultless front 2 from what I am seeing. Just hope they are both fit and ready for the final push.

He's obviouslybe allowed to go on loan to learn about football. He really lacks the basic skills, such as reading the game. He doesn't cope well with the type of football most third division sides play.

Ah, poor old Sitwell. One of the playrs didn't come and thank him for travelling to Rochdale. The disgrace of it all. Dread to think what O'Hal will do if we have a minutes silence while he's here.

Maybe Sitwell and the rest of the other 3,500 Blades deserve a bit of thanks for making a 100 mile round trip on a midweek night match. Plenty of other players did it, so why not O'Halloran?

Didn't bother me in the slightest, could not gove a toss about O'Halloran clapping or not. Much more bothered about whether or not he tracks back a bit and puts 100% in for every second he's on the pitch.

Wasnt the fact that he didn't appreciate the fans it was more the strop he was having deflecting attention away from the players who had earned the victory.

oh and why don't you just do one ,I really hope I never meet you.

Didnt go last night but I agree sitwell. All the team should be made to go over to the fans especially away from home.

Not quite sure of the issue here. He's young and new to the lane, not had much 1st team experience and clearly hasn't played well just yet.

Like Mic, I'm not too fussed that he doesn't do the applauding fans thing. He'll learn.

On sat he didn't look lazy, he looked lost, but some players struggle when they come into a game.

He looked greedy.

None of this is a major issue. He's on the bench to make an attacking impact, he's not a holding player. Perhaps he was the wrong player to come on at that time? But credit to danny to still want to get forward with pace after ched went off.

He'll learn

I don't think he would have come on if Beattie or Hoskins had been available, but in fairness Philly could offer us as much, if not more than than him.

When I were a lad... (Here we go again!) ... players never applauded the fans. They simply trooped off the pitch after the game.

Mind you, there was a fair chance you'd see them on the tram on your way home...

I don't rate him, he just stands still when he hasn't got the ball. However, given the sheer adrenalin of this promotion race, the back and forth only one will win competition with our biggest rivals, our 30 odd goal striker, our improving youngsters, our perfectly dovetailing cm partnership, is a loanee really worthy of a thread like this?

I love that ,dovetailing cm partnership , they do compliment each other very well ,Doyle is a giant at the moment.

This seems to be a constant thing with our fans and young players, we are totally unable to understand why they aren't the complete article.
O'Halloran is a pacey forward, who will have been banging them in since he was 6-7 years old. Running onto long balls played into the space on large pitches, playing on the shoulder using his pace and getting loads of chances.
He will have been getting a stupid amount of goals throughout his time as a junior based purely on his pace, and the amount of attempts he gets from it.
We see this type of player come through all the time, what distinguishes a real talent his ability to learn and adapt now he is playing in the (relative) big leagues with professional defences.

These are new situations, and the tactics that have seen him through so far won't work anymore, he needs more.
Its his ability to see this early and adapt that will show if he is going to make it at a higher level, or if he is going to be an Adrian Littlejohn. See the likes of Sturridge, Welbeck and Delfouneso, the latter of which seems to be having more problems adapting at this moment in time.
You have to give him time, some will take longer than others, and the Premiership sides might not have the patience to wait. These are the only ones we are likely to have a chance of seeing play for us, especially at this level.
Time will tell if he has the ability and intelligence to match his physical assets (whey hey) and really be a good Premiership level forward. But its highly unlikely we will ever see anything close to the finished article O'Halloran playing for us.

O'Halloran - from a standing start to whipping boy in no time at all.

Blades 'fans'. Don't you just love 'em?

And yet, the same fans wanted to fill the team with youngsters and give them time this year!

Think the only reason some fans wanted to see youngsters in the first team was to complain about them.

You get 3 minutes to prove your worth at the lane, after that you're finished

Fans wanted a couple if Pacey players, this lad could be important late on in the next few games

Our fans aren't patient at all with young players, they need to be played, dropped if necessary and brought back without thinking the fans are going to murder them for every mistake.
Personally I have doubts about Maguires ability at any level higher to the one we currently play at, but I'd like to see him given a run should we go up. Yet the fans currently seem to think he's a world beater and would be protesting if we accepted a multimillion pound bid in the summer. Yet you know that we'll get the anti HMS Maguire posts should we/he be playing for us at a higher level next season.

its not a case of not giving him a chance but he isn't involving himself with the rest of the team ,and its the 'team' and togetherness which has been one of the great qualities this season. That doesnt just mean the players ,its the management ,fans, coaching staff ,everyone and he isn't helping himself with this attitude.
