Over The Hills... Obviously
We all know how massive Morgan Gibbs White was for us on the pitch last season. I think we are all in agreeance that he came in at the right time and without him, we wouldn't have managed anywhere near the success that we achieved...albeit falling at the last hurdle.

Without a doubt...returning to his parent club will be a huge loss.

But looking at our trademark stutter in transfer activity again at the moment....I look at our squad and the underwhelming draw for potential acquisitions.

Okay, we have some real raw talent.... Ndiaye has broken into his native countries national scene.... Jebbo seems to be impressing in the young lions set up.... and we've a few internationals scattered around the place.

But removing MGW from the equation and we do have an underwhelming squad in terms of expressive flair and raising bums from seats.

Berge is very highly rated, however there is huge speculation as to whether he will even be at the club when the first ball of the season is kicked....therefore he isn't even a pull as such.

I can't help but feel that we need thay domino effect in order to attract talent. Whilst money talks and bettis dangling the "we can afford good wages" carrot may work to an extent. Players want to be successful and retain value, or alternatively use the championship as a springboard into the top flight..... in the same way that MGW did.

I don't see many players looking at Norwood, Enda, Basham, Egan and Co and instantly thinking "I want a bit of that"..... the nothing away from them, they are good lads.... but players want the buzz factor, they want to join raw talent...they want to be surrounded by exciting players.

I just feel that getting a couple of young, exciting, up and coming players, with a bit of flair about them..... might just make us more of an attractive proposition for potential recruits.

The slower one at a time method isn't working yet.....and as a result we don't seem to have any momentum in the market.

Players that might come also want a solid back 4/5 to go with the buzz.
A year ago we had no idea who was joining and who (for most of us) MGW was, so I remain optimistic that some excitement will be added.

Anyone know if Wolves have MGW in their plans this season or looking for him to go out on loan again but this time in the lower half of the Prem?

If not it would be good if we could have him back for a second loan. I know its unlikely because we probably won't/can't afford his wages a second time around and even if he is allowed to go back on loan to the Championship it would likely be to a newly relegated team instead but just a thought.

The buzz factor ?
We won't be having any of that thank you

Don't you know that players with the buzz factor are all troublemaking cunts ?

We've bid for him, £20m plus add ons so he either stays with Wolves or comes to us. Either way he's bigger than you now and no way would he lower himself to the Championship now 😆 nice try though

Good to read that he was carrying you last season though, should fit into Cooper's system nicely, cheers 👍

Exactly. Sign MGW on a 5yr deal now!!!

I would hazard a prediction that in twelve short months MGW will be bigger that you lot also. If he does come to the twigs, it will be to stand somewhere up the pitch with his arms up to give it to Johnson for a rare kick whilst your net is rifled with goal after humiliating goal. I thought we were underhorsepowered for the Prem but the twigs look like Barnsley on a good day. You'd just best hope your patient, well-behaved fans can get a few games abandoned by chinning PL superstars so you can play behind closed doors and not hear them booing you after every trouncing.

You'll finish bottom, and think on. No Brian Clough this time round to soften the blow with the plaintive sympathies to the pissed-up, washed-up old swiller.

And if he doesn't join your sorry excuse for a club will one of your "fans" run on the pitch and twat him when you play Wolves?

Stay at wolves or join a team of cunts, no brainer really

I know WBA have snapped up Swift and Wallace, but for me the biggest transfer we missed out on so far is Kal Naismith of Luton.

Can play all across the back and has also featured in Central Midfield and out wide.
Couldn't agree more. Wand of a left peg as well.

I suppose if the florists don't sign him, they could always go on strike.......

Oh hold on, not very good at that are they......... Scabs.

Oh I don't know, pierre van hoioodonk had a decent spell as the only bloke in Nottingham who knew how to go on strike..

They said he was Nottinghams best striker at the time, who'd have thunk it..

Oh the irony..

Thanks for that.
I cannot stand the crawling to the old alcoholic waster in these parts. Glad someone dares speak against the exalted memory of the rambling old boor.

Still obsessed with the miner's strike 😆

Ironic Forest get labelled as living in the past then go to any Yorkshire team and get scab chanted at us all game 😆 mostly by kids who's fathers weren't born.

I'm not fucked about the Miner's Strike.

What I am bothered about is the semi that the media seem to have on about the twigs based on one romantic purple patch many years ago, and mainly because of a gobshited old gimmer who became more and more nuts the more Buckfast he could slide down his cavernous maw.

There's no doubt Clough had a decent team ... and that team were good footballers. But then again, so did John Harris, Dave Bassett and even Warnock. Sure, two European Cups and all that but there has been precious little since built on that pedigree and recently spent several seasons confined to the 'Whatever happened to Notts Forest?' slot on trivia quizzes.

And lets face it, if it wasn't for Derby County, you'd have never had had the players do do owt. They are your feeder club.

So jog on old bean. You're not Liverpool and You're not Man U. And you're definitely not Sheffield United

First time I've seen Warnock and Bassett compared to Clough not to mention someone called Harris I've not heard of. 😆

Remind me how many European Cups did they win with Sheffield United?

In fact, how many times have you even tasted Europe? And I don't mean nipping out for a pizza 😆

Europe for you was further back than the second world war was to the date you won it. Just sayin ...

I mean, plenty of forgotten teams (like the twigs) have been there, and then again, plenty not. We are not claiming to be European giants. You lot are. From a long, long time ago where people who are grandparents now were not even born. That's called perspective. It prevents you being able to reference managers who built successful teams for Sheffield United, see?

Look, you scraped by on pens to get your shot in the big boys league. Your fans, ground staff and police are proven cunts. Enjoy the fleeting time you have upstairs, because from experience, it can be brief and brutal. And again from experience, you'll get your arses kicked.

Notice you bemoan people bringing up the miners strike, acting like it's ancient history.
Meanwhile, you're boasting about Forrest's European cup success. Very amusing.

Life was good as a Forrest fan; one of the greatest managers of all time, a fantastic team and European triumphs. After a fallow period, life is good again; an exciting manager leading you into the premier league with an exciting team.

It's a shame you're struggling to enjoy it; you should be soaking up the premier league sun, leaving teams like us in the rear view, instead your spending your Saturday nights on S24SU and desperately trying to bait people on any thread you can; I noticed you even went onto the off-topic forums - you really must have plenty of time on your hands.

Keep up the good work, every time I read a thread and see that you've posted it never fails to amuse me: something Sheff Utd did must have really upset you; best time to be a Forrest fan in decades and you can't help but thrash around on here, rather than enjoying it.

Not heard of John Harris? There's no need to demonstrate your ignorance in public. You are interested in football I presume? John Harris was a well respected and more than competent player and manager who graced the game for many years. Read the internet and broaden your horizons instead of writing tripe on another club's Forum.
