I'd like to think Hecky is pushing the club to really get the academy sorted out. The academy never seemed a big priority to Wilder.

Cheers mate. Having had a bit of a snoop there’s a player Ethan Cummings at city who would be the right age but there aren’t any pics doing the rounds so can’t confirm. It looks like he might’ve had some England school boy involvement at younger age groups but like I say there’s not much out there about him.

It would be a good move for him stays fairly local and hopefully gets him some game time. If we do move on from Brunt I’d imagine it’s because a pathway is being cleared for those coming up behind.

This "rumour" came from the same source that said "Luis Mousset" was signing for Stoke, and Jayden Bogle was going to Boro for £750k

I’d imagine so roots as if we’re keeping him we’ll want him to continue his development higher up and if we’re not keeping him then it sounds like there’s a market for him to leave for a fee

Nothing yet mate but wouldn’t expect anything until we’re back from our training camp in Portugal as due to us taking our time getting any business done our manager has said we’re taking a lot of the 23’s to Portugal with us.

You’re getting like that neighbour who you loan a pair of shears to and then he’s back every week wanting to borrow your lawnmower or your drill. There is no benefit to us in loaning out Lopata or Neal to the conference again so it’s highly unlikely. If we loan you anyone, it’s more likely to be one or two of the younger ones that broke into the u23s last season. We’ve got a few that could do with some experience at senior level. Peck possibly as he’s ex Arsenal youth so doesn’t seem to mind moving around a bit to further his career.

I would hope there is business between the clubs again; Lopata, Neal and Brunt are all better players than they were this time last year, implying the staff (and environment) at Southend do a good job looking after other team's young players.

I expect we'll attempt to place the 3 above players further up in the pyramid, Lopata may remain with us as a backup even. If any of our younger players are ready for men's football though, I would hope/expect Southend are the first port of call.

We've already signed 5 new players, all of them from the NL or the NLS or NLN below and all under 26. We also have 2 more in the pipeline which we expect the Club to announce early next week. These are lads that have been scouted by John Still and Stan last season and have featured in NL Teams of the season etc, so we are obviously going for potential and possible sell on.

On that basis, I'm not at all sure that we are light anywhere as these lads are on 2 year contracts with another year's option. I was asking about your 3 boys out of interest as there would be no real value to them to return to us, but I've already said that earlier in this thread.

I think forging good relationships like this for developing our young players is excellent business for both parties. The three lads all seemed to improve down there so I’d be ha if others went the same way
