The 20/21 version of IC on this video led to AC Milan offering 10 million euros for him. 6 foot box to box midfield player who scores goals with his head and both feet. His best asset and one that SUFC haven't had in years in the middle is his ability to go past players at pace and change defence to attack rapidly. You'd be desperate to get a player in this form over to us.

21/22 version bad injury and loss of confidence resulting in poor performances.

I doubt he will be judged on a few days training at Shirecliffe recently. The question is has he overcome his injury problems and does he want to come to the Championship when he originally signed for an EPL club.

He's our player and we lose the ability to play him if he kicks a ball in the Belgian second tier. He needs to be brought over for a full preseason and then a decision made IMO. There's a talent in there that needs to be unlocked in a position we are sadly lacking. We should at least make a serious attempt to do this bearing in mind our limited finances.

The key to that post is: The ability to go past players with pace.A commodity we've lacked for quite some time.

Sorry I only just saw your question.

Having watched Beerschot a fair bit last year, he's probably one of the few I would say I haven't got enough of a feel for because he was absent so much. I didn't see him last season when by all accounts he played well nor at the beginning before he got injured.

He appears to have bossed Albert-Mboyo Sambi Lokonga when he played against Anderlecht in the prior year and he went to Arsenal for 17m so there is a potential high upside to him. Its just if he can regain fitness, form and then also transfer this to a new country.

I've only seen him coming back from injury and this was late appearances when the team was almost always already falling to a defeat. He did contribute to a couple of goals conceded. One he didn't pick up a runner well and another he was probably fouled, but the ref failed in his duty. Not much of him going forwards because these were cameos when the team was under the pump.

By all accounts he is a confidence player and there were a few articles about him struggling a little mentally with the covid and being injured situation. When playing in a team that was winning more than not, he did well. 5 goals and 2 assists in 2700 minutes in the Belgium League is not to be sniffed at. Sander managed 6 goals and 4 assists in just under 2,400 this season with us and Sander was often deployed further forward for us and is of course a few years older.

He is certainly different to Norwood and Fleck and with those two established there would seem to be scope to ease him in.

What I wanted to share was that KAA Gent have apparently an interest in him, so let's see. Article can translate to English depending on your device settings:

Interesting that he’s seen as a confidence player and makes sense that he had a down season if he was affected by lockdowns and injury might take him a preseason to get back up to speed.

If he’s a confidence player then I feel heckingbottom is the perfect manager for him. Look what he did to the whole squad during the end of the prem season and after slav. Specifically look what he did with robinson who was clearly lacking confidence

I'm not saying that Coulibaly is the answer, but if we start next season with Fleck and Norwood then I'll lose my shit. I'm tired of watching Fleck put in one good performance every ten games, and I'm tired of seeing Norwood excellent one game, garbage the next. We need consistency, creativity and goals from our midfield next season. I'm happy with the other two staying but not as starters. To move forward we need change.

I hope the owner shows some ambition and that Coulibaly either plays for United or Beerschot and is not sold for a quick buck to Gent. We saw how well that went with Tissoudali. A world beater sold for a mere 750,000 eur. Will take me years to get over that.

Wholeheartedly agree

What was the point in this signing if he isn't brought back over?
We are short of decent midfield options yet we are still fucking about with him?
Either get him over or he has will probably prove to be an expensive flop (remember we paid a fee plus wages for the duration of his contract)

Sold by our ownership for 750k, scored 26 goals and 8 assist for gent, now on the verge of a transfer for 10mio to la Liga.

I can the see the same happening with Coulibaly.

UW is just an empty box. Need to get rid of asap.

How much did we pay for him?

Problem they had was that he was able to leave for nothing that summer.

From a purely financial perspective they thought 750k was better than zero.

The most damning thing I read was that if they had approached him sooner with a new contract he would have considered staying.

Hopefully they have agreed a healthy sell on clause!

Did they ever had the idea to offer him a well paid contract and the chance to shine in the PL. at that time United were still in the PL and Tissoudali if you see how he has played the last 18 months may well have kept you there. They didn’t even consider this option I am afraid.

Your regular reminder that Coulibaly is not an EU Citizen & wherever he plays he will need to satisfy the work permit regulations of that country. A "position" has been taken that he's eligible for a UK permit providing he doesn't play Belgian 2nd Div football. He's presumably still eligible for a work permit in Belgium. But if "we" sell him, it will have to be to a country where he is eligible for a work permit.

Feels a complete no brainier to get him in our squad. Fee is sunk and already paid, can’t imagine he’s on massive wages.

A low cost 21 year old with potential is exactly the sort of player we are led to believe is part of our strategy.

If this were a 21 year old from say Ipswich who attracted interest from a few big club’s whilst a teenager and we had the chance to sign on a free we’d be chomping at the bit!

Whether he’s up to it remains to be seen, but by all accounts has ability. We’ve seen first hand it’s not easy to play well in a team devoid of confidence and returning from injury etc

I’ve a funny feeling he could come in and really impress.

Furthering on from this. Need to make sure fans don’t start getting on his back early. We’ve seen with berge how difficult it is to adapt to English football and judging by what purple rain has said on here, he’s a confidence player

Looking inside at what we have is a much better than pissing away money on loans.

N'Diaye showed we currently have a decent crop of young players at the club. They are also more likely to stick with us if they know they have a chance of being part of the first team.

I'm in no position to give any opinion on whether this lad is good enough to play for us next season but there must have been a plan when signing him, including the work permit issue.

Unless we just saw it as an opportunity to make a profit after loaning him to the Belgian top flight.

Be a nice bonus if he could play for us and have a positive impact.

Why would he play in the Belgian 2nd Division?

We sent him on loan to a Belgian top flight club for 2 seasons.
Those 2 seasons are up.
