Sorry if any offence caused 🤣. Jamie Murphy was great but as you know we had a time under Clough mainly signing average cheap Scottish players. You know much more about him than I do so sound more promising than my grim response

No offence at all. Connor Sammon and Marc McNulty would crush anyone's optimism.

Funnily enough, until I started following Sheffield Utd properly I had a similarly low opinion of the English lower leagues from watching Hibs sign up guff like Geroge Francomb, Jonathan Grounds, Tom Soares, Matt Done, James Collins...

Scougall has always been shite in Scotland too by the way. He's playing part time these days. I think the biggest club he ever played for up here was St Johnstone where he barely got a game.

I don't blame Blades fans for having a dim view of Scottish football mind you, there has been some right dross signed from up here.

Doig is decent and has the potential to get better. Oddly I think he'd perform better in the Championship. Skillful wingbacks get hacked to bits up here and terrible officiating offers them little protection.
How much do you recon they’d let him go for?

I doubt we were ever in for him, we probably watched him a few times as they willl hundreds of players and then we've been linked with him as a result. LWB is one of our most competitive spots in the team with Max Lowe returning too.

Looking good in Italy for Verona, who have a big chance of relegation

Might we revisit any interest we had ?

If we 'did a Baldock' with him and made him a more robust defender he'd be a reyt signing. Only 21 so loads of time to make such improvements

Got very confused reading this thread from the start - people suggesting we didn’t need to strengthen at left back!!!! Now I see it was over a year ago…

Still there were some cracking gags thrown in, so I regret nothing.

So this could be the most important 'going down' in Verona, since Juliet unzipped Romeo's trousers?

Haha. I hate to be the one that breaks this to you though, but... that was a a story.

I hope you were sitting down for that.

I've only seen a highlight reel of this lad, but based on probable price, S2 forum recommendations, a previous rumour and Hecky working with him previously... I'm thinking Doig and Manning to be our new LWBs. With RND at LCB.

I need something to get me through a Sunday in June.

They could be relegated today. One to keep a eye on

It always seems counter intuitive to recommend players from a relegated side, but Verona have Doig (LWB), Coppola (CCB), Hien (LCB, RCB & CB) and Dawidowicz (LCB, RCB & CCB), who are all of appropriate quality. Verona have played 3 CB;'s and WB;'s this season, so they are all well versed in their roles.

They also have a lad called Amione (LCB) on loan at Sampdoria (also relegated) that is worth a look as well.

So Verona definitely relegated.

Does he have a relegation release clause? surely he'll be wanting a move now (not that he's been starting much for them lately anyway)

Not definitely. They have a relegation playoff now vs. Spezia, next week I think. Think it's some new rule for Serie A this season, would have been relegated on the H2H record otherwise.

I think Italy has long had playoffs if you're level on points.

Absolute bants. Amazing Prem haven't adopted it for further revenue.

I think Serie A used to have playoffs a few years ago and then went to H2H as a decider before going back to playoffs this season. Spezia + Verona each look terrible looking at the table, both probably deserve to be relegated! 😂

You're almost definitely right

Amione was quite impressive today at Napoli
