Disgusting

As people have mentioned, 'celebratory' pitch invasions were the norm until recent years. As long as there were just one set of fans on the pitch few thought that they did any harm. All fans wanted to do was shake the hands of the players and congratulate them. Traditionally, fans ran on the turf after the final match of the season, or to celebrate promotion. Today, it's somehow seen a health and safety hazard and such displays of happiness aren't encouraged.

I'm all for pitch invasions if we actually win something. But it's a bit premdture to celebrate qualifying for the Play-Offs, or winning the semi-final first leg.

Actually, I'd like to see Blades fans all over the pitch at Wembley if we ever win the Play-Offs.

That was 40 years ago.

Things have moved on a bit.
Imagine if someone had manhandled MGW and robbed his boot like they did with Edwards at Darlington. I'm pretty sure he survived the event. The bloke who ran on was a bell end but the over reaction is laughable. Running on the pitch is unacceptable but slotting him is?

The shirt begging is becoming a joke. I sit on SS just to side of our dugout. It used to be great, players not in squad used to sit behind dugout with coaches and not hassled. Over the past few months kids from all over now make a beeline just before end of match with cards and paper asking for shirts. The players have now moved from behind dugout out of the way. It's even worse when it's cup games and they are on SS from other parts of the ground

I'm less concerned with the individuals who decide to spark a flare or run on the pitch, I'm more bothered about what that means for the club.

Forest fans in the top tier, segregation that has to include complete separation of fans rather than just a line of stewards and some netting, it's the consequences that we all have to put up with. Unfortunately there are always going to be those who don't think about the consequences, especially when they only go yo a few games a season anyway.

Those who went on the pitch should be put up against a wall and have a truck driven into them, seeing their innards squirted out onto others who may be there with them, as a warning to get the fuck off it. Our style of play demands a good pitch.
If you're willing to jeapordise that to brush your own ego and risk our play off chances, you're a cunt of the highest order.
Is everything ok at home ?

Its very very bizarre how our fans have suddenly become so passionately averse to pitch invasions...... even when promoted

Aye
Have you also noticed that there’s never any (tomato) sauce in the dining area & they’ve stopped using ‘cakes’ in the urinals
It all started to go wrong when we lost the Empire😉

Exactly, the season isn't over.

Although we've never had any problems with invasions, there could be a very very very tiny possibility of a nutter doing something mental, or a fan could pass on covid, or a fan could accidentally cause an injury to a player etc.

Given we have more games left, even if the chance of that happening was 0.00001%, it isn't worth selfishly running on the pitch for.

The job isn't done, leave the players alone.

Couldn’t go or watch on tv so I only formed this opinion from watching a couple of YouTube videos. Yes, it was hardly a mass invasion, sign of the times along with hysteria over a few balloons on the pitch at some recent matches. On the other hand, what is so bloody difficult about complying with a simple valid request? Selfish and thoughtless actions, that could lead to problems for the club, so no matter how small the number on the pitch, it would be complacent to ignore it.

The shirt begging thing is getting out of hand, going on the pitch with your tatty cardboard request and actually approaching players now, unbelievably selfish and entitled behaviour. It has taken away everything from what previously was a heart-warming gesture. Sad.

Did Gary tell folk to keep of the pitch in 82?
Was Gary announcer then? There was no chance there wasn't going to be a pitch invasion that day. I remember reading in The Star one lad lost his finger scaling the fence on the Kop which was daft because the gates were opened on the Kop at the end of the match allowing you onto the pitch.

Yeh because getting your arm ripped off by an alligator is really similar to running on a bit of grass.
Well they’re both green

If you’re not convinced by that there’s alway:
‘Welfare’ of players
‘Welfare’ of pitch
‘Welfare of spectators
Insurance implications
(Possible) Litigation
Minimise / avoid public disorder
Trespass
Against Ground regulations
Against Football League (FA ?) regulations
Risking of sanction
Asked not to
SUFC are miserable cunts
(potential) increase in overtime bill
Stewards wanted to get home for their tea
Other than (any of) those I guess you’re right

Have you got a lawn / bit of grass / back yard they could visit instead ?

The only Wembley pitch invasion I can recall is when Scotland played England in the Home Championship forget the year and the score. But remember watching it on ITV I think when the Scottish hordes took apart the nets and took chunks of terf! Always liked that end of season competition.

1977, Scotland won 2-1

I think the Home Championship was played every two years. There would be around 11000 at Ninian Park or Windsor Park when Wales played Northern Ireland. The big fixture was England v Scotland at a packed out Hampden Park or Wembley.

Bore off , imagine getting that upset about something so trivial that doesn’t impact you.

Imagine defending utter scum of the earth that think it's OK to stand on the advertising hoardings and call the call the entire kop wankers after being booed for being an entitled bellend. I'll state again how he wasn't ironed out the minute he stepped back into the stand is beyond comprehension.

Also I never stated anyone running on the pitch should be banned, just that was the rules.

I bet you're OK with a lot of the behaviour seen at away grounds nowadays as well aren't you!

As it happens, I've invaded the Wembley pitch on the final whistle...

Why is everyone getting so precious about a tiny pitch invasion

It was tiny because 99.9% of the crowd understood respected the wishes of our players - so that doesn't the minority of tramps who encrouched a free pass to go shirt scrounging.

Nobody told us off , nobody got in a panic about it

Brian Clough felt differently.

Noone could be against a full pitch invasion at the clinching of any real success.

What we saw sat however was a handful of scratty dregs needlessly showing off and in some cases pimping out their offspring to beg for shirts. It was just classless trampy behaviour and looked utterly tinpot shit.
Herman’s Hermits???
