Mentally Weak

I'd go the totally opposite way with this group. Last season they were run into the ground for much of it due to the tiny squad and toral lack of options. Somehow they kept us in an automatic race, often because they wanted it more and won through many times with sheer resilience. After the massive disappointment of missing out on automatic they were the best group in the play offs and were very unlucky not to get promoted.

At the minute they look totally confused. We have no footballing identity. We went from high line, high pressing incredibly high risk football vs Bristol City to low block, no width fear football yesterday. Did they do anything in pre season?

He's physically not the same though is he
Check out the highlight reel just before we got him in his confirmed thread plenty of physicality in that. Has shown signs ie when he nearly got sent off for that rugby tackle, Just needs to get to know the Championship and step up.

You can talk about tactics and players playing out of position but one of the biggest factors for me is the the players are mentally weak. If they can't adapt to playing in a slightly different way they have no chance of ever playing at a higher level. It also doesn't excuse being able to string three passes together. What we have seen from this bunch however is:

  • a total capitulation at the end of last season
  • completely throwing the play off final away
  • a general approach in many games last year to score 1 goal and then look like a rabbit in the headlights
  • people throwing toys out of the pram because they are being asked to do something different

They are still at it now - feeling sorry for themselves after last season. When the going get tough all I see is the heads going down and everybody looking at each other. There are no leaders in that team. Makes you wonder what the captain is doing...
100% this. Last season we only won 2 games from a losing position all season, that’s embarrassing.

It’s a reyt mardy team. Proper sulk on if things don’t go their way.

I can understand one or two players mentally, weak, but the entire playing squad, I don't think so.
But having said that, I admit I must be mentally weak for being daft enough to pay to watch.

My criticism of Wilder last season was, on a Saturday the team didn't look coached at all and it was tricky to see that they'd actually trained that week at all.

However, compared to what we've seen so far this season, Wilder is looking like Pep Guardiola in comparison. Every game, they've looked like eleven random strangers given a shirt and told to go out.

Id love to see what is happening on the training ground, but this looks a complete shambles.

Wouldn't happen if Sharp or Baldock were in the team. We are lacking leadership significantly. Souza or Anel were not leaders. We haven't had a leader in our squad for some time unfortunately.

A strong, experienced spine to the side is essential, with leaders in each position.

We have:
Cooper, good.
Centre back pairing TBC, possibly loanees.
DCM, loanee.
Peck, good but youngster.
Campbell, good.

Far from ideal is it??

Mate,

Mate, if we keep playing 4-1-5 it won't matter if we have peak Bobby Moore, Patrick Vieira and Alan Shearer in the team....

If we can't control midfield, all bets are off...

They are employed by the club to play for whichever manager is in place. If any of them are not giving their best they are a disgrace and should be got rid of as soon as possible.
Here here. These fucking players are paid eye watering sums to basically enjoy their hobby day to day. Regardless of who the manager is the club collectively is still paying the wages, and as such it shouldn't matter who the manager is!

If any of us rocked up to work and just decided to twiddle our thumbs because we weren't keen on our direct superior, we would be sacked.
