He’s a complete and utter joke. Could be the difference between promotion and not.
 
Great performance again last night, really showing his potential. Great interview after as well.
 
Couldn't make the match last night due to work, but watched it at home and our lass who isn't even in to football said that he looks like he's a level above.

What a bloke, if he wooed our lass with his footballing skills last night and I caught them in bed together I'd kick her out of bed and take her place.
 
I dunno I'm starting to think those people who were sure he was a deep lying midfielder for so long are into something....
 
His interview was good if you have not listened to it. Was asked what his favourite position is, sounds like he is enjoying where he is playing at the moment
 
There was one outside of the foot pass that he played which was borderline pornographic. I had to sit on my hands.

Still sounded like he believes he's a deep lying midfielder to me and that he's doing a job for the moment. Surely the penny must be dropping that his greatest strength is moving with the ball - the opposition can only stop him by fouling. I'd have no issue with him playing deeper as long as he still moves forward with the ball at his feet. What a weapon to have at Championship level. Keep it up Sander and stay behind after training for some heading practice.

Oi, nah then. You can't start raising your performances and then just begin thinking about a move elsewhere!
 
Can't blame him. If we don't go up there's no way a player of his quality should be playing in this division for a club that will need rebuilding on the cheap
 
Ultimately, he's been hugely disappointing and a handful of decent games at tier 2 aren't going to change that.

We will be lucky to recoup half of what we paid for him in my opinion.

I've still no idea where his career will take him and he's been here 2.5 seasons.

He was poor against Barnsley again and didn't look interested in getting involved. At one point, the ball arrived to him in space, he had the left back in front of him and behind that a clear run at goal. He looked up, didn't fancy it and did a cross field pass instead.
When he fancies it, he's good. When he doesn't, which is often, he's anonymous. His mindset is powderpuff.

He'd go with well wishes, because he seems a top lad lacking some self-belief. But ultimately, we'd be lucky to recoup anything like what we paid and that in itself tells you how successful he's been here (though there have been some mitigating circumstances).
 
Sometimes he looks great. Sometimes he looks out of place on a football pitch. He looks so big and clumsy at times and, despite his size, seems to lack athleticism. Aside from him being Norwegian and mates with Haaland, I can’t say I get the hysteria that surrounds him.
 



I enjoy watching him play when on form. He has the attributes to really damage teams at any level and occasionally he can use them. But without speculating about his attitude or ability to adapt to new tactics or positions, I always feel he depends on the rest of the team to bring into the game. Having Basham and Baldock back, would make a difference to the consistency of his performances. Really MGW and Norwood are the pivots of the side when playing well and Berge has never remotely shown he can pick up the mantle in their absence. He is a real curates dinosaur egg. We have found a way of accommodating him and getting some effective contributions (and goals) as an inside-right, but this is also buttressed by playing only one upfront. If Sharp is out for a while and we need to play two up top again, he can neither sit in the hole and he rarely contributes in a midfield two, in fact often reducing Norwoods impact.
 
It's all about perspective with Yaya. Year 1 he took some time to acclimatise. Then was probably our best player after the lockdown. Year two was our best player before succumbing to one of the worst injuries a player can suffer. This year did no real pre season and was thrust into two/three game week until we predictably broke him (gross mismanagement). Second half of season has looked good in one, sometimes two game weeks; but otherwise coasts through games saving his body and energy (Saturday a prime example). Thankfully we haven't broken him again as we are begging for him to get another long term injury.
The damage was done in the summer but thankfully we are getting something out him.
 
Anyone know how he did today? Started for Norway and completed 70 odd minutes.

I had it on in the background. He plays deeper for Norway than he does for us—as one of the two in a 4-2-3-1. He did ok but it was a bit of a nothing game with Norway totally dominant against a very unambitious Slovakia.

It was 4-3-3, but with Ødegaard (RCM) allowed more attacking freedom than Berge (LCM). I thought Berge had a decent game. As you say it was quite one sided and Norway struggled at times to get through Slovakia's deep defence. Berge made two of his trademark runs on the ball, the last one all the way into the box before setting up Sørloth for great chance, but the shot was weak. He had one poor cross field pass, but was neat and tidy overall and made a couple of good defensive contributions as well. This Norway team have a lot of good players, but still seem to lack attacking rhythm.

I think there’s some truth in what you say. I have said before I’m a huge fan of the lad, and I have no real idea why he now struggles for consistency!
Two or three games a week is unusual in European leagues and he has been an international almost since he was a pup. His background means his probably used to fewer games, and nothing like the tempo of the EPL.
Maybe he overtrained during lockdown to try and get super fit and that contributed to his serious injury?

Anyway, he’s gone from the white hot demands of EPL, to the fire of 3 games most weeks in a robust and sometimes agricultural league like the Championship. His club rightly demands a very high level of training and fitness. That, coupled with heavy training ground, has probably intensified the shock to his system, expecting a lighter load on his young body.
I think the shock to his system physically, and his different mental approach to meeting it, has meant that he is finding things more difficult than most, settling into the English game.

At a relatively young age, his mind and his body are fighting different battles to cope with, what for him, are radical changes.
I hope he settles and finds the right zone for him, but I suspect the best place for him is with a top Euro club, where the stresses on his body are less than his mind needs to cope with.
Not every talented European player has the combination of mind and body, fit for the top level, or near it, in English football. A quality player, no doubt, but probably better suited to the best Europe has to offer and not the intense hurly burley of the EPL or Championship?

I also believe the epithet, ‘classic Rolls Royce’ fits him perfectly. Take it out once a week if it’s not raining. So sad that he does not fit the Blades future of yo-yo club.
 
On a negative stand point (being a realistic blade) we don't get promoted is he now worth £35million in the summer?

You don’t have to look very hard to see posts on here and Twitter suggesting he’s destined for the top.
 



I watched the game. I thought he did very well. My only criticism was that he was too unselfish at times. Looking forward to watching him again on Tuesday. Hopefully he’ll be a wee bit more selfish and really put his stamp on the game.
