This fanbase at times man. Whole side was shite, in my opinion a shit team selection too. Berge should have started. But McBurnie's from Leeds, so he's the reason that Millwall scored obviously
Nobody gives a flying fuck where he’s from, what a ridiculous notion and entirely typical of the bullshit put forward by some one here to excuse his consistently poor performances.
The criticism he receives is entirely down to his very limited footballing ability and more so, his lack of effort.
Whenever he plays we have next to no goal threat and the likes of you and others will remark how poor Sharp was too, in order to detract the attention away from McBurnie. What you don't seem to see is that a striker like Sharp needs a strike partner who is mobile and creates space, whilst occupying the attention of some of the oppositions defence. Look how we played with MGW and Sharp partnership, high energy fast movement creates space, which Sharp can exploit.
Like it or not McBurnie rarely breaks out of a jog, hardly ever runs off the shoulder of a defender or takes the ball on the half turn, I really wouldn’t be surprised to see pigeons landing on him mid game, he’s so fucking immobile. You could partner him with Harry Kane and you’d be saying ‘Well what did Kane do all game?’
Then we have the old defensive headers line, as people clutch at straws to find some benefit in selecting him? Well we all saw some great long throws put into their six yard box this afternoon and McBurnie didn’t get his head on one and I’m afraid it’s in their penalty area where he needs to prove his worth.
By all accounts McBurnie is a very pleasant, lovely lad, but is also easily led and gravitates toward disruptive influences. I think we have all seen the consequences of his poor judgement due to his off field dilemmas. It seems to me, that since his huge transfer fee and improved contract, that he’s taken his eye off his career as a footballer. I don’t think his lifestyle choices give him the base from which to be anywhere near the top of his profession, exactly like Mousett, who incidentally, was rightly condemned.
I’ll openly admit I never wanted us to sign him, but anyone who says, hand on heart, that he is fit or gives absolutely everything he possibly can every time he pulls on a Sheffield United shirt, must have their eyes painted on. I can guarantee that his career is only going in one direction and tbh I don’t think he’ll really care
