Mcburnie

It's laughable. A grown man stifling discussion around a players ability and simply making stuff up about others. Nobody's making him take his signed photo off the bedroom wall.
I respectfully disagree. I read a rather large amount of stuff on here that is aimed at the person and not the footballing ability.

Swansea will hopefully sit back and invite pressure, only scored thirty-two all season while not being terrible defensively. Chances will come, fingers crossed McBurnie will get off the mark.

It's amazing how after watching football, presumably their whole lives, so many people will insist a professional footballer is useless at football. Particularly baffling when they've performed very well at other clubs in the not so distant past.

I really wanted us to sign McBurnie. After the early season game v Swansea in our promotion year, I predicted he'd win the golden boot that season (for Swansea).

Success in any walk of life, comes down to various factors, and sometimes the stars do not align. McBurnie will never be a non-league striker, no matter how much crap you talk. The only part in his web of potential success, that we as fans can play, is to boost his morale.

It's perfectly possible that his confidence is impacted, week in week out by his own fans slagging him off on all corners of social media.

Ahh that's better might just get a sensible debate from who is left. It seems to be the same crew over and over again with the abuse. Ramsdale, Berge, Brewster McBurnie in fact anyone with a transfer fee north of £10m gets the abuse. It is same in the ground at games it is not really a happy place to be anymore one good season in the Premier league and a lot have become self entitled like Chelsea and Arsenal fans. We really should be getting behind anyone in a red n white shirt rather than targeting big money (for us) signings and dishing out abuse sometimes even before a ball is kicked. I thought Arsenal fans were bad but Jesus Christ some of our support since we had a return of Premier League football is just plain and simple vile.
Just a quick look through some recent posts of yours and you seem to do a lot of slagging, you slagged ramsdale? Billy not good enough and should only be a sub, same for McGoldrick, not happy with Norwood passing, Baldock, slagged Lundstram off. These is after two minutes of looking, pretty sure if I looked longer I would see a lot more slagging than most people on here, what a weird character you are.

Seems you like giving your opinion on players and slagging them where you deem fit but God forbid anyone says anything about McBurnie.

crackpot 😂😂

the fact is mcburnie wont get us the goals to get us in to the play offs whereas a 36 year old just might for me he can only be used from the bench as a nuisance factor when were hanging on to a lead and have to say he did that well at st andrews our lack of goals upfront may well cost us dearly this season

Some really good and pertinent points.

One in particular !

Because you “really wanted us to sign” him, does this impact your judgement of what we have seen, game in game out ?

Would this very same accusation apply to many of the other apologists who’s minds where made up b4 a ball was even kicked (scuffed more likely) in anger ?

Fair enough for those levelling personal abuse at him. What about those of us who simply think he's a poor player?
Tbh, "he's a poor player" is only one step down from "OMB is wank". One uses a harsher word but they both say the same thing.

If you criticise: performances, goal scoring, passing, or any other element of being a footballer, I'd be on board. I might not agree with you but I couldn't fault your opinion.

But "he's a poor player" is the most acceptable form of personal abuse, but still personal abuse all the same.

Just got to say, I get behind the team at every game for 90mins then after the game we have a debate about did we play good or bad, which players played good and who played bad. This happens after every game and will keep happening. We all have our thoughts about football and to put the record straight i was willing United to sign Brewster, I’ve never said anything bad about him , not like McBurnie he his terrible

So if I listed, individually, in a negative way, where I thought Mcburnie wasn't very good that would be acceptable but to put them together as in 'he's a poor player', then it's bordering on personal abuse? Strange times.

Obviously, he would score his best goal of this compilation against Wednesday:

Fair question, I suppose. But no, it's not influencing me.

I wouldn't claim strongly that he's done well for us. Though we did finish 9th in Prem and he did pretty well overall that season.

He's been disappointing since. But there's a good chance with the right style and confidence he can come good. Otherwise I'll hope Blades can get a half decent transfer fee for him this summer, accepting a loss and moving onwards.

At no point would I claim he's not good at football. The standards are insanely high at this level of football

Metal Guru is it you
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Your posts are bollocks and you smell of poo.

That's quite catchy that, I think. Shame he won't get to see it.

Yes that's how it works.

You see how polarised this thread gets every time these types of comments come out. People getting defensive and offensive depending on whether you support or don't support the person, not the player. Just causes arguments and doesn't really offer much value.

But if you listed actual criticism of things they can improve then it gets some good chat.

But that's obvious. Surely no one thinks if someone says he's a poor footballer they take it they're talking about the Meadowhall league. I'm saying he's a poor player at this level. Clearly he's a decent player compared to the majority.

Did this 30 months ago.

It was a long list back then.

It hasn’t shrunk one bit 😉.

All threads about individual players will end up with polarised opinions, it's the nature of the beast. If it's not personal and its warranted what's the issue? My original point about the dope that's put me on ignore is that he insinuated I'd (along with others) criticised other named players. I've been stoic in my praise for Norwood and Berge in the face of severe criticism from others who have a different opinion. No problem, it's a forum. That's how you argue (discuss) your viewpoint. The forum appears to represent a cross section of society hence some people may come across as belligerent with their posts, others not. If it's not abusive on a personal level what's the issue. If you'd like me to list what I see as Mcburnies shortcomings I'd be happy to do so.

I actually thought McBurnie looked alright on Tuesday. He should have done better with some of his efforts on target but contributed to creating chances and got into positions.
He's not really played much within the last year really but let's not forget this was a very good championship striker not long ago and he's only 24.

Can't believe the stick he gets really. Mind you we have to have at least one scapegoat.

Only been critical of mcb cos he's wank. But hey, you throw your toys out of the pram yer big baby. Does the term 'echo chamber' mean anything to you? Oh, he's ignored me, drat! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What an absolute moron haha. Grown man getting upset with what people say on a Internet forum about his beloved McBurnie who in layman’s term is what you call wank. As for the others I love Brewster think he’s gonna be a star, and Berge is the best player we have got. These McBurnie fanboys really are special.
Agree. Brewster was starting to look a player and berge has class. I just dont think catweazle is any good. However it seems I cant have an opinion 🤣🤣. That a grown man has reviewed a forum to see who disagrees with him, then blocked them...i really cant fathom it. Bizarre behaviour.

I might be alone in this but unless the posts being made specifically look to separate the performances from the person then I'd class it as personal. Some people make it more obvious like the post above "cos he's wank", but as I said earlier, other posts are less obvious "he's a poor player". In my eyes although the words are different the message is still the same, it's about the person not, their performances.

X is [noun] - comes across personal
X is bad at [verb] - criticises the performances.

Certainly not criticising what you put because we are all guilty of it and myself included and wasn't anywhere near as vitriolic as 99.9% of the stuff on here, but I will disagree when you said it's not personal.

When people say things like "he's wank" it is about his football ability, it has no bearing toward him as a person. If he scored goals, which is what he was signed to do, he wouldnt get pelters. You dont have to be a doctorate in linguistics to work it out. There is no ulterior motive. It is about his lack of ability.

I'm not sure how you can separate criticism of a performance from that of the person performing it, they're inextricably linked surely. Anyway point taken, no need for personal abuse.
