Mcburnie

I don't mind the polar opinions on a player at all, some people see the game differently to others.

What really irks me is the glib "you should support all of our players" and "if you criticise a players you're a pig/idiot/part timer etc.". Our players aren't exempt from criticism, most of them have had some at some point. McBurnie is a high profile and underperforming signing so he's copped for a fair bit recently. Some people just need to take their Blade tinted specs off sometimes and use their actual eyes.

I'm not sure how you can separate criticism of a performance from that of the person performing it, they're inextricably linked surely. Anyway point taken, no need for personal abuse.
You raise a good point.

They are linked, but in any environment of feedback, the advice is to look to isolate and seperate the two. There is a reason that nurseries point out naughty behaviour and not naughty kids anymore. It's not because of any PC reason but it's been proven that if you don't isolate the behavior from the person it can really mess kids up for life.

What an absolute moron haha. Grown man getting upset with what people say on a Internet forum about his beloved McBurnie who in layman’s term is what you call wank. As for the others I love Brewster think he’s gonna be a star, and Berge is the best player we have got. These McBurnie fanboys really are special.
I think it's brill tells me what he is, like a big soft kid who's dropped his dummy and we have got to him just because we don't share HIS views .I suggest he GROWS UP and grows a pair. ha ha ha .

Tbh, "he's a poor player" is only one step down from "OMB is wank". One uses a harsher word but they both say the same thing.

If you criticise: performances, goal scoring, passing, or any other element of being a footballer, I'd be on board. I might not agree with you but I couldn't fault your opinion.

But "he's a poor player" is the most acceptable form of personal abuse, but still personal abuse all the same.
How can it be ‘personal abuse’, unless he’s addressing the person concerned directly?

Surely if you state that you believe ‘Player X is a poor footballer’ that is your opinion and nothing more?

If you can’t state your opinion without offending someone, then there’s little point in this forum existing really, unless its to talk about fluffy wittle animals and blow smoke up everybody’s arse. FFS what’s the world coming to?

The bigger picture as always (due to the bog roll's outlay) is that will trying to get him fit and firing cost the club a chance to finish within a play off position for me, and yes it could?

Sharp needs breaks now, every right minded fan can see that, but McBurp is currently not a adequate stand in (and likely never will be 50% of what is required), so can the manager actually grow a pair and change the system to give Sharp a break or will he try a different option in Jebbison? The owner and financial pressures could dictate the manager's thinking here, but since losing Brewster, we have lost the option to go the over way and stretch teams in behind, which suited Sharp more. Jebbison could be the only option for the manager to do this?

Ahh that's better might just get a sensible debate from who is left. It seems to be the same crew over and over again with the abuse. Ramsdale, Berge, Brewster McBurnie in fact anyone with a transfer fee north of £10m gets the abuse. It is same in the ground at games it is not really a happy place to be anymore one good season in the Premier league and a lot have become self entitled like Chelsea and Arsenal fans. We really should be getting behind anyone in a red n white shirt rather than targeting big money (for us) signings and dishing out abuse sometimes even before a ball is kicked. I thought Arsenal fans were bad but Jesus Christ some of our support since we had a return of Premier League football is just plain and simple vile.

For the record I always get behind the team

For the record I’ve seen nothing from McBurnie to convince me he is not a League One player

If people can't state an opinion, - even a diametrically opposite one - to somebody else without resorting to ad hominem attacks and personal abuse, all they do is betray their own lack of intellect, and, in the process, lose the argument/debate.That sort of stuff should be punished much more stringently on here imo.

What I don't get with Jebbison is that last season he moved ahead of Brewster in the pecking order and was rightfully ahead on merit, rewarded with his first goal at Everton.

Had Brewster not got a 23.5m tag around his neck, if you knew nothing about either player, they'd have both been lined up for a loan in League One and there were plenty clamouring for keeping Jebbison around in August.

The only thing that changed is that a new manager came in and either had a different preference or was instructed to help build value in such a highly expensive investment. But it doesn't take away the point that Jebbo had shown more for SUFC by the end of last season.

So, less than one year on, Jebbison went to Burton and left their top scorer with 9 goals 8 League One goals, as many as the top scorer for the Pigs anyway!

I don't see how he's fallen behind Brewster at all. The latter had a promising run before injury but Jebbo was doing all he could - scoring a variety of goals for the team he was representing.

For me, he should be taking Brewster's spot. If that meant Brewster was going to partner Sharp then why not Jebbison?

I've never seen McBurnie and Sharp as a pair. Granted, I don't think McBurnie has been used in a way that he has excelled before joining us but him and Sharp as a duo have shown little to no chemistry at all.

I can certainly see Jebbison running in behind like Brewster was doing. Not something McBurnie is ever going to do.

I even wonder if we should be looking at the free agent market. The time to build up Jebbison is now. If something happens to Sharp, turning to Jebbo to be the saviour will be a far bigger ask if he's been sat getting splinters for a month.

This isn't the reply you think it is.

Children's brains are malleable and designed for learning. The adult brain isn't, it takes a lot of work for an adult to learn something new, or change their mindset (we all know the ones who won't change). You can retrain kids far easier than you can retrain adults.

We're going around in circles. I'm not sure I understand your point.

Come on lad. You've lost me at paragraph 3. I make it a point to never continue when someone plays the "offended" card, never goes well after that point.

I actually thought McBurnie looked alright on Tuesday. He should have done better with some of his efforts on target but contributed to creating chances and got into positions.
He's not really played much within the last year really but let's not forget this was a very good championship striker not long ago and he's only 24.

Can't believe the stick he gets really. Mind you we have to have at least one scapegoat.

HECKY ARRRRRRT!!! Cant be having sensible chat around these parts!
i really hope hecky is right in his assesment of mcburnies progress im still not as confident or convinced that mcburnie will come good and get us the goals that fire us in to the top 6 at the end of the season but will apologise for my lack of faith in the guy if he does get us in the play offs

That is the way most fans see it . I have no axe to grind with the player other than saying the obvious which is he just ain't producing . I would be the most happiest blade going if he started against Swansea and I think 99% of other blades would feel the same to but he never looks like doing the business and for others who think he is the best thing since sliced bread they are kidding them selves.

Three seasons ago the team couldn't put a foot wrong in a march that took us up to the top league of English football. Then naturally the decision was taken to improve the team by signing players with the potential of filling key roles and making the team an even stronger unit than it already was, strong enough to hold onto it's gains and hopefully even continue to improve,
Unfortunately it now appears while in the Premier league our time for bargains buy's was over, but at least the success of our team has brought us a better class of juniors to bring on,
I just hope we can hold on to those a least ..... 🤞

I think he has more than okay in his latest sub appearances but he has scored two goals in his last 56 games, Including cup games and international matches. That is absolutely dreadful!
