The bigger picture as always (due to the bog roll's outlay) is that will trying to get him fit and firing cost the club a chance to finish within a play off position for me, and yes it could?
Sharp needs breaks now, every right minded fan can see that, but McBurp is currently not a adequate stand in (and likely never will be 50% of what is required), so can the manager actually grow a pair and change the system to give Sharp a break or will he try a different option in Jebbison? The owner and financial pressures could dictate the manager's thinking here, but since losing Brewster, we have lost the option to go the over way and stretch teams in behind, which suited Sharp more. Jebbison could be the only option for the manager to do this?
What I don't get with Jebbison is that last season he moved ahead of Brewster in the pecking order and was rightfully ahead on merit, rewarded with his first goal at Everton.
Had Brewster not got a 23.5m tag around his neck, if you knew nothing about either player, they'd have both been lined up for a loan in League One and there were plenty clamouring for keeping Jebbison around in August.
The only thing that changed is that a new manager came in and either had a different preference or was instructed to help build value in such a highly expensive investment. But it doesn't take away the point that Jebbo had shown more for SUFC by the end of last season.
So, less than one year on, Jebbison went to Burton and left their top scorer with 9 goals 8 League One goals, as many as the top scorer for the Pigs anyway!
I don't see how he's fallen behind Brewster at all. The latter had a promising run before injury but Jebbo was doing all he could - scoring a variety of goals for the team he was representing.
For me, he should be taking Brewster's spot. If that meant Brewster was going to partner Sharp then why not Jebbison?
I've never seen McBurnie and Sharp as a pair. Granted, I don't think McBurnie has been used in a way that he has excelled before joining us but him and Sharp as a duo have shown little to no chemistry at all.
I can certainly see Jebbison running in behind like Brewster was doing. Not something McBurnie is ever going to do.
I even wonder if we should be looking at the free agent market. The time to build up Jebbison is now. If something happens to Sharp, turning to Jebbo to be the saviour will be a far bigger ask if he's been sat getting splinters for a month.
