Hi Silent,
Don't think I've seen this one before?
Some faces are unfamiliar on first look. Busy today so maybe weekend might see me solve one or two.
Early, quick observations - Keepers are fascinating! The two fellahs between Hodgy and Bob W are testing. Pretty sure it's not Brian Gough as he joined summer 68 not 67. Couple of names, Barry Sheppard and Ken Walton, but maybe they'd left club by then and it's not the faces I remember of those two.
Don't think lad on front row is Roger Peck either. Russel Clarke is correct.
I'll give it more time this weekend.

Falling down after drinking Barley Wine is nothing to be ashamed of.

Quick update Silent Blade
Front row between Mick Speight and Dave Staniforth is Mick (Irish) Williams I think.
Still undecided on Roger Peck, could be him.

alex sabella the man 3 moves in front of any other player we had at that time if it hadnt been for the thuggery of jeff king on boxing day 79 it might have been a different result
That's no exaggeration AB. Alus baffled me why if us on the terraces could see it why couldn't the powers that be see it and adapt. JK was a little thuggish but at least he we'r our thug at one time. Mi thoughts are we could do wi one at the present time.
I seem to remember stories of a punch up in the tunnel before they came out Boxing Day which put AS off a tad, he was quiet in the match, if my memory is any good.

I cannot recall this match but doing a bit of research and it was played the day we beat WHU away in the FA Cup 5th round (Phil Cliff 2 goals). I'm sure I was at the Lane when we saw that result developing on the old cricket pavilion scoreboard.

Managed to get tickets for the 6th round at Leeds thinking that after the WHU result this was to be our year.

An FA Cup final appearance would have been a first for me. Unfortunately the only first that season was relegation.

I can still remember a quote from Mick Speights wife in the Star prior to (I think) that boxing day match,,,talking about how they met, in a nightclub " he told me he was a footballer, I had seen him dancing, so I knew he wasn't a dancer"

yes there was a punch up in tunnel before boxing day game vf its in tony kenworthys autobiography big jacks statement in the star that he planned no man marking on sabella lasted all of 2 minutes when king booted him 9ft in to the air alex went missing then for the next 88 minutes

Jim Levitt is the keeper next to Widdowson

That is what someone in FB said
Think it is Levitt. Had forgot he also played in goal too, Definitely was used as a centre half for D&D.
Not sure if that's Phil Archer behind Munks, Phil is on some other photos in one of the Blades history books, I'll dig it out.
Think Peter Millington is front row, 2nd from left.
