Got our club back YES it doesn't matter who owns us it's our club and it's back

Wilder v Blades , going at it hammer & tongs ..... we all know what's coming don't we ?

Dem Blades are a one-club constant stream of bizarre events - there's no club like ours for succeeding or failing in the most unlikely and/or coincidental ways.

If it's not one scoring machine going to prison and letting the pigs steal our promotion (after 22 penalties) , it's another scoring machine breaking scoring records whilst playing till he's 46.

I've lost count of the times I've said "you couldn't make this shit up if you were writing a fantasy film" about dem Blades.

But there's no use trying to predict whether it'll be unbridled joy or cruel heartache.
All you know is that it'll be pure farce , tragedy , evil corruption , cruel luck or sheer ecstasy.

How anyone can follow a predictable club , I just don't know.

Those people in campervans looking for flying saucers should just get a ST at the Lane - if aliens ever do land , it's bound to be at HT in BDTBL.

I remember the seeing the news reports after the game was abandoned v WBA in the BoBL game due to a team having insufficient players on the pitch - first time for that reason for about 100 years or so. I just shrugged and thought...'yeh but its United in't it'.

It's like the relegation down at Chelsea, about 5 places clear at 4.30....and let's not even go into the monumental fuck up and true to form United moment which was the last minute penalty miss which if scored would have saved us and sent the team we were playing down instead v Walsall....

Hecky has impressed me, not just the results but the way he conducts himself and gives interviews - very professional.
When you look at his background in management, coaching and the academy he looks a good fit for the role he has been given
and the players clearly respect him and are happy playing for him.

He’s also studying for a Doctorate in sports coaching after completing his Degree and Masters which shows how driven and forward-thinking he is.

Whether or not you like the boards new strategy it seems they have the right man at the helm for it and have strengthened the academy staff in the right places to support him.

Big shout out to McCall and Lester as well as you can see the improvement in individual players, if this development continues it would be like having several new signings in the building.

So far so good.

Sorry, Hecky. Thought it was the cheap option by the board, and it possibly still was, but he's getting a tune out of this squad at the moment like nobody else could, and that's all that really matters.

I definitely doubted it when he got the temp job in the Prem, and I’d of probably been a bit gutted if he’d got the job in the summer. but the I was lost with Slav & didn’t see it get any better.

I didn’t mind him getting the main role however the length of contract i wasn’t in support of. I’m not sure I’m in support of it now, it’s a heck of a length in comparison to most managers.
Totally agree with this. Thought his first few games in charge in the PL were really poor and that he wasn’t the long term solution but things did start to improve. However I would not have wanted him to be appointed as full time to take over at start of season and I like most on here was excited by the Slav appointment. How wrong I and others were. It soon became clear that the players were not playing for him and he was doing a “Robson” bringing in old mates ( Guerdino - or whatever he’s called) and expensive loan signing (Olsen) who turned out to be useless. I fully supported Board sacking him and felt that Hecky was a more than reasonable choice. He knew the club, knew the players, particularly the youth players who seemed to be the future And had done really well with the U23s. It also gave the chance to promote Jack Lester and bring in Stuart McCall.

So I’m not going to apologise other than to say that I didn’t expect Hecky to perform as well as he has done. He’s been outstanding in what he has done. Great results but more importantly has brought out the best in the individual players particularly Brewster, Ndaiye, Bogle. Signs that McB and Berge may be fulfilling potential and senior players all starting to show the form they had in promotion season. He’s also got rid of most of the dead wood. Onwards and upwards Hecky.

It’s still early days. Very early.
Agree, don't forget he had a great start at Hibs, unbeaten in 10,yet it tailed off near the end of the season and there was a huge player turnover in the summer, the following season was horrendous before he got sacked.

I wasn't pro or anti Heckingbottom, but probably had some inner doubts due to his un sexy sounding name.

A bit like Sam Allardici, I'd prefer Hecky if he changed his name by deed poll to Heckingbottocini 😂

I was very sceptical of hecky both in the summer and in January. I preferred the Slav appointment by a mile although I assumed it would signal investment to match and a changing of the guard.

Hecky fits this group of players much better both in terms of style and I think personality. Very positive that two of the coaches responsible for good academy development in recent years seem to be turning the same trick at senior level with marked improvements for Brewster and Bogle since Hecky and Lester came in. If the goal is to develop young players both our own and those brought in then it seems those two are the men to do it.

Proved nothing yet

Totally agree....when will some of our fans ever learn?

Winning a few or losing a few means nothing. It's how we perform over a full season that counts.
Apart from Fulham we've had a string of matches against bottom half teams....and we've won almost all of them.
We now have a run of matches coming up against top half teams...lets see how we cope in those matches.

Suspect the same people now singing Hecky's praises will be calling for him to be sacked if we lose 2 or 3 consecutive matches.

Regards the appointments..I was excited by the Adkins and Slav appointments because both had very impressive cv's.
Appointing those 2 was a sign of ambitions intent, so the club deserved credit.

Regards the Wilder and Becky appointments I was meh....not impressed but decent less ambitious appointments IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

Just goes to show that when ever we've shown ambition and paid out big money for managers and players.....it's never worked.
When we've gone for modest/ cheaper options we've sometimes done well. I like Hecky's down to earth style, hope he continues his success.

Heckingbottom is doing a good job a very good one so far he has turned the ship

But right now I wouldn't say he is his own man what is his style of management ?

Hes just copy and pasting Chris wilders tactics he even played a flat 3 last night which is the exact same CW used too do all the time in tough away games

Good at copying the last manager but I'm yet to be convinced he is a good manager

If he gets us up playing this way then i don't care tbh

That's because you are genuinely clueless in every aspect.

As I stated at the time, Hecky managed to "lift" the players after Wilder left, and we actually scored a few goals and won a few games, against all odds, so I thought it made sense to bring him in when it was apparent we were not going to be above mid-table with Slav.

For whatever reason, Hecky (and McCall and Lester) "connects" with this bunch of players, and the results and table don't lie.

You have to wonder what would have happened, if Slav had never come here and Hecky was manager from the start of the season.

What part of that do you disagree with then ?

I don't think he's copying the last manager. I think he's utilising the strengths of the current squad, in the positions they were acquired for, which means there's cross over of styles. Slav tried to implement his 'own style' and it failed miserably.

I mean he literally copied him last night tough away game play a flat 3

Im not saying there is anything wrong with that its a proven strategy

Someone posted this on twitter yesterday and I listened to it again, and remembered listening to it when it was released. Interview with Hecky after he was sacked by Leeds.

Really honest and insightful interview about how he does things, what happened at Barnsley and Leeds, and what motivates him. Well worth a listen to get an idea what kind of bloke he is.

Interesting that Leeds also hired him to create a buy/develop/sell model. Whereas he walked into their structure blind, here he knew it inside out beforehand. That has to help hugely.

Though I guess if the players here hadn’t respected him for his work last season, he’d probably have been sunk here too.

To early for this thread , but I was one of the 20% if your figures are right !

I agree with most of this, but I also remember talk of relegation when he came and he has at least removed that prospect.

Sorry (the future) Dr Hecky the appointing of Jack and Stewart McCall was great thinking and making them play how they know how to play with some extra tricks is great to see.
