I definitely doubted it when he got the temp job in the Prem, and I’d of probably been a bit gutted if he’d got the job in the summer. but the I was lost with Slav & didn’t see it get any better.

I didn’t mind him getting the main role however the length of contract i wasn’t in support of. I’m not sure I’m in support of it now, it’s a heck of a length in comparison to most managers.

Is W6D1L1 the best start in the league for a manager ever? Spackman was W5D3 in his first 8 league games so one point better than him

Shows terms like the cheap option were just bitter jibes
He was the value for money option

Even harder some will be giving princey credit for putting him in charge

I was underwhelmed and disappointed that Slav left as felt we were starting to turn a corner.

It was less PH that had me vexed but more the poor press conference, fortunately not relevant now!

My reactions to SUFC managerial appointments;

  • Heck, underwhelmed
  • Slav, buzzing
  • Wilder, sceptical
  • Adkins, pleased
  • Clough, chuffed
  • Weir, optimistic
  • Wilson, gutted
  • Adams, excited
  • Speed, pleased

Anyway, that's long enough to prove I know f**k all about how well a Manager will do.

I doubted the appointment he still has along way to go, but give credit where it’s due he’s had a great start. The fact his been involved in the set up for a while undoubtedly helped him, he knew no money was available but also has the benefit of knowing what players that are coming through. As supporters we look at bigs names, and big fees and assume it’s brings success. Let hope he can keep the momentum going.

Hard to say it's value for money when you have to hire then fire a management team. Probably our biggest spend this season.

I too was sceptical, however i love it when dem blades prove me wrong. However if we lose on weds night, people will be back on this thread to complain about him. He certainly has made a great start, with a great backroom team and is getting them performing again.

I am one and while we are doing better than I expected there is still along way to go.

I support Paul 100% and think he gives the best interviews. Just a little note of caution, check out Solskars 1st ten games for Man U.

Toughest of all board decisions is picking a manager
Then tougher still is ousting someone not working out fast enough to save the season.
The selection of Hecky is turning out to be inspired

Always said he was the answer.

I remember that well and felt the same way .

At the time , we were clearly underperforming under a manager who had no connections or affinity with the club and who had us playing some of the most stultifyingly boring and ineffective football I’ve ever seen us play .

As a result , I found it difficult to understand why many thought the idea of replacing him with not just one but three men who had a close association with the club , who understood it’s identity and the wishes of it’s fans and who had all had success in their respective roles should be considered to be such a shit / penny pinching idea .

I know it’s not fashionable on here to give any credit to our present owner , board or senior management but I for one am deeply grateful to them for the decision they took , one which has given us back a Sheffield United team I enjoy watching and which embraces the values of what our club has always been about .

So far so good. Has turned things around in a way Slav didn't.
