Playing goalie wag. Saves on wages you see.
I think you need to get off the fence, stop trying to be diplomatic, say what you really thinkHe was a fuckin liability in the sticks for Utd. We are hardly gunna miss this wage thief who clearly likes to draw large wage but is either not motivated cos he thinks he's above the club he's playing for or it's because he's just plain crap.
He didn't want to be here and made that absolutely clear. The feeling was mutual. A footnote in history where every SUFC fan will have forgotten about him probably by next week. Ta ta, you won't be missed.
Surely it’s unrealistic to expect a keeper of the standard you suggest to be available in January. What team would release such a keeper mid season ?In the summer I was happy that on the face of it we'd replaced Ramsdale with an international standard keeper and also banked some money in the process. Olsen has turned out to be a disappointment and we've been spared 6 months wages for him but that shouldn't mean that we're happy with Wes as the ongoing number 1 keeper.
We need a decent keeper in January, who in reality should be capable of making Wes a benchwarmer and cameo keeper.
Anything other than this is a step backwards.
Good riddance, we should be able to pick up a backup keeper fairly easilyHe's gone apparently. Any replacement lined up?
I'm not saying I expect us to get one, I'm just saying that replacing Ramsdale with either no one or another backup and deciding that Wes is now our no.1 is a significant weakening of the GK position.Surely it’s unrealistic to expect a keeper of the standard you suggest to be available in January. What team would release such a keeper mid season ?
I'll sum it up.
He just didn't want to be here.
Now if he goes to Villa and tears it up then he's a cunt
Maarten Stekelenburg spent a lot of time warming benches even though he was the Netherlands' number 1 - weird that these high profile keepers are happy to play back up
Maybe this was the solution to our postponed fixtures?Playing goalie wag. Saves on wages you see.
i think sometimes there is something else at play regards international games, weirdly certain players seem to have more, or play above their club form, Xhaka at Arsenal is a liability for his country totally different, Harry Maguire has been found out, put under way more pressure in the PL than International games, yes you can argue its intensity, style of play etc and that shouldn't directly affect a keeper, maybe its confidence or collective confidence being surrounded by better players, or perhaps as daft as it sounds its the added pressure? similar re the track/distance was always the same distance, and Kris Akabusi always seemed to run faster in a relay than his races as an individual.I think it's a mixture of scarcity & economics.
The pool of talent is shallow for many European countries and GK is a limited position. So in the case of Olsen; even though he'll be the best that Sweden have to offer I'm sure that he'll earn much more sat on a Premier League or Serie A bench then stood between the sticks for Leverkusen or Ajax.
I would rather Foderingham was our back up. Neither of them have been good enough really.Good riddance, we should be able to pick up a backup keeper fairly easily
I find it baffling that Sweden's national no.1 is a career back up who failed to get game time at Everton, Roma, SUFC and is now off for more of the same at Villa.
So would I, but that will be difficult in the window. We then need to address it properly for next season.I would rather Foderingham was our back up. Neither of them have been good enough really.
Agree totallyThe devil made work for my idle hands!, hence,......
Frank Fielding - Goalkeeper. 33yrs old (34 in April)
Recent record,... All with clubs playing at Championship level!.
Bristol C. 2018-19 - 7 Appearances (5 League, 2 FA Cup)
Millwall 2019-20 - 1 Appearance (League)
2020-21 - 2 Appearances (Both FA Cup)
Stoke C. 2021-22 - 0 Appearances.
I'll be kind and call it 10 Appearances in THREE years. Not what I would call a threat to/for WF's No.1 position/Shirt!!, which IMHO is a must to keep WF on his game!.
BUT!, Frank is a player that will require 'No to little' Fee!, and as such would be an ideal signing suggestion for the 'Yes man' dingle to put forward to 'Yes man' bettis to (in the absence of a Chairman/Board!?) put forward to the prince, in keeping with the 'Spend Nowt' policy under which our club is now operating.
A squad in need of some major surgery will be getting the (Fielding etc..) sticking plaster treatment, if it is lucky!.
Unfortunately Blades, this, is our 'lot' for the foreseeable future, prepare for (4+yrs!?) more sh*t times ahead!.
See you all at BDTBL next Saturday
UTB
once or twice this season ive felt like double jabbing him myselfInteresting move this. Using that trigger word but Gerrard said that vaccination status would play a part in their Jan recruitment so maybe means Olsen was jabbed after all??
