Help needed with old Blades photo

Evening all just a little help needed, as its just before my time.

Whose United's Number 8, the venue, and what season would it have been given I can't remember United having numbers on their shorts.

I think its Willie Carlin...but as I said its before my time

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Looks more like Stuart Scullion to me.

Think it's Stewart Scullion, United had no,s on the shorts for a few seasons in the early 70s. This could be 71-72 as he signed for United having played for Watford in the 3-0 loss to the Blade's that took us up

The original picture belongs to a friend of mine and says Carlin and Currie (I didn't put Currie on it) at White Hart Lane, but it didn't't make a lot of sense as they never played at White Hart Lane together. The Scullion theory is a definite goer. March 1972, as Currie was 10, Scullion 8 and as my friend had suspected could be between 71 and 73.

Scullion was number 11 when we played at White Hart Lane in December 1972 so your photo is deffo March 25th 1972. The photo of 2 old ladies was Spurs v Man U 3 weeks earlier
