Is it wrong to have homophobic leanings if you keep it to yourself???
Serious question this?
Is it homophobic if you are against gay marriage?
Is it homophobic if the thought of two hairy arsed geezers slobbering over each other makes you feel slightly queezy?
Asking for a friend šŸ¤©
Serious question mate, so here's the/a definition of homophobia
"having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against gay people".

So having a dislike would be yes- like racism it's about the beliefs and attitudes you hold inside, as opposed to having to say awful things to be a homophobe/racist/misogynist etc.

I'm not sure having an opinion means your friend is a homophobe though, it doesn't mean he dislikes anyone ...but he might want to phrase it a bit more subtly.

Still, as others have said I'm not sure if the scarves are a good thing and supportive or a bit much/patronising...

Can anyone tell me why the gay community who are blades would want to wear anything other than red white and black .unless we are going to do a rainbow šŸŒˆ third kit .
One club , three colours , for everyone .utb
Because football traditionally (and still is to a certain extent) has been a hostile space for gay people. Whilst society moves on football is lagging behind on this issue.

Gay footballers stay in the closet for fears it would harm their careers and gay supporters generally feel they have to conceal their identity to attend games. Homophobic slurs are still thrown around casually.

Wearing pride colours is a way for gay supporters to show they do exist and for others to show solidarity. Ultimately nobody should feel football isnā€™t for them because of who they are.

Is it homophobic if you are against gay marriage? Yes Iā€™d say so. Whatā€™s the objection if two people love each other. Why would you want to stop them?

Is it homophobic to feel queezy about two men having it off? No, you donā€™t have to enjoy picturing people having sex, whoever they are.

Why is football a hostile place for gay people I've known lads right from the sra era late seventies that are gay ,nobody batted a eyelid .same goes for the black community ,no issues at the lane .so why single yourself out ,is it the need to be seen heard ?

Honestly, I don't feel like any of the clubs really could care less about it all but it is a sure fire way to get some easy brownie points.

I can't speak for everyone of course but I've never come across any notion that anyone hasn't been welcome at any football ground when I've been (C Ronaldo when he was at Man U was pretty close though)

I seriously don't want to sound so sceptical and be accused of having the "wrong attitude" but I'm a firm believer racism or homophobia will never be eradicated. As long as we as a species have freedom of thought there will be wankers amongst us.

That being said showing support will never hurt but I am cynical about it.

Youā€™ve never heard ā€œget up you faggot/poofā€ at BL then?

Iā€™m not saying it never happens anywhere else, and yes, it was part of the times and what people shouted and thankfully weā€™ve all (mostly) moved on as a society now - but to claim BL has been 100% welcoming for gay people forever is nonsense.

Couldnā€™t have put it better.

Why is it nonsense ,your sexuality is your own concern or should I say it should be ,it doesn't have to be shouted from the roof tops ,and the lane has allways been welcoming for anyone

Or F*ckn tackle him you puffā€¦.. makes you feel really safe sat next to some of these idiotsā€¦.at home gamesā€¦

This to me is the club showing support to all fans and if it improves tolerance then itā€™s a good thing, the rainbow blades group has gone from strength to strength over the last year and the club has been very supportive so should be congratulated.

Have you actually read what Iā€™ve put?

Whether you're gay, straight, bi, trans or whatever, I couldn't give a fuck. I won't look or treat anyone any differently if they're wearing a pride scarf or a plain red n white one from skeggy market. It makes absolutely no difference to me what-so-ever, and nor should it anyone else.

If by people visibly wearing a pride scarf encourages just a single footballer to 'come out', then go for it. Just like racism, homophobic language is just another age old, disgustingly outdated part of society that needs eradicating.

How do you know? As a gay man no it hasnā€™t.
Tell me when being a gay male has impacted on going to the lane ,complete nonsense , Darnall blades will tell you different one or two of those were gay and proud and had no problems whatsoever.how I see it is whatever your colour ,gender ,sexuality , you go to the match watch the game have your pie have your beer go home and moan about the game ,it's for everyone .unless you have a agenda utb

I don't suppose there's any chance of a White Pride scarf is there, while we're at it?

Bread.jpg

To celebrate the diversity of all things culinary at the match? Thankfully, long gone are the days when people had to eat their potted meat sarnies with their heads buried inside their carrier bags to avoid the shame of being branded a 'tight wad' and other such derogatory terms of miserliness, now thankfully left behind in the 1970's.
Whatā€™s wrong with potted meat sandwiches? On Mighty White bread? Takes me back to my awful schooldays at Ecclesfield Comp...
Are you a pottedmeatphobe?

I used to love fish paste on white toast, especially sardine.

Not had it for years. Iā€™m going to get some soon.

Now if they do half and half fish paste and potted meat blades scarves Iā€™m in.

Does this genuinely equate to my mates aren't racist or homophobic, so there's none at the lane? As in a serious take?

The confident assumption you speak for the gay community is baffling.

Literally google "homophobia football", the beneath are some results from a Survey by the Gay Times.

"The survey also found that football grounds are still challenging environments for the LGBTQ community, with a third (33%) of fans saying they believe LGBTQ supporters werenā€™t made to feel welcome and accepted at matches.

63% said they wouldnā€™t feel comfortable confronting someone for using homophobic abuse. 69% felt that the Football Association should be doing more to prevent homophobia in the game in UK, and 55% wanted their team to increase its support for LGBTQ+ rights for players."

But sure, nobody bats an eyelid.

It wasn't welcoming for a certain Aston villa player in 1995 (I think) dove for a penalty which Dwight Yorke scored 0-1
Savo milosevic Serbian striker was told by the kop in full voice ."You should have died with the muslims"
Could you imagine this happening just 25 short years later

He literally said it in this thread:
Im sorry but if people are so super sensitive to

You donā€™t want to go to football if you canā€™t scream ā€œfaggotā€ at people? Itā€™s an odd hill to die on.

Yes, must admit that there is a big element of bandwagon jumping with pride etc and you have to wonder how much of it is genuine.

Football has definitely moved on to a certain degree but I guess the test will be when a current footballer eventually comes out.
