A lot better today, though some way off the standards he set 2 years ago.

Ollie was excellent today overall and the pass to Billy resulting in the penalty….
Outside of boot - Zico quality
Loved it…..
Credit where credit is due
He’s getting his mojo again
The penalty was in the 90th minute, Norwood went off in the 66th minute.…..

United were piss poor out of possession in the first half. We played in front of Derby except on two occasions ( red card and pen). It was a mistake to change ON as he was the player to switch the play and play the ball forward. Davies and Jags were eating up the crosses with the cigar in..

Agree. Norwood was exceptional today and has been ever since we brought MGW and Ndiaye into the side.

Hourihane is making it very difficult though. That's 3 goals he's created with that left peg. We could play with both but Fleck & Osborn (the other motm contender) don't deserve dropping.

Berge still to come back.

Good problems all of the sudden.

Apologies for my mistake - so beside myself with glee at getting the 3 points and cross posting….
Indeed Ollie’s belter led to the red…..
Hand of God got us the pen…..
Either way Ollie is back

MOTM for me today also.

Couple of poor corners again, but apart from that was spot on in everything else he did.

When you have Baldock and Osborn doing most of the crossing, we aren't going to score. Both are shit at it. RND isn't much better either.

I thought Baldock's crossing was pretty good today. He could and should have had two or three assists.

Yep switching the play was fine but then the wide men stopped and passed it back more often than not, our movement up front was poor and slow today and for long periods it all turned to Wilderball, slow tempo, passing sideways and backwards.

When he wants too, norwood is genuinely one of the best long passers of the ball in the world. Some of the passes be makes are ridiculous. What makes it even more impressive is how he makes the ball move in the air to divert it away from defenders

Been a big critic of Norwood when he sat deep and played balls short and square. we now have more movement ahead of him, Slav has him operating higher up the field and he looks a much better player.

Norwood has put in some really good performances in the last few games and you could see he's started to purr again with those ridiculous passes.

For me we became so slow when he came off yesterday, as Egan and Davies then became the ones charged with spreading the play.

However, a last minute winner and a clean sheet... I'd take those anyday!

generally poor crosses but the problem was being too slow getting ball forward. Most crosses didn’t come in until Jags and co were all lined up and waiting and with no aerial power up front (only Billy) it was all meat and drink for well organised Derby defence. Very few crosses low from by line (as in Pboro game) and so many times little flicks etc from MGW and Ndiaye just didn’t quite come off. However we are still work in progress and we can see what Slav wants and players have bought in and on other days things will click. More concerned about the defence again. Within 2 inches of throwing away another 2 points.

And yet it’s precisely this ability that some of his loudest critics cite when shouting about how shit he is. Because switching play, rapidly, with long, accurate, elegant passing is somehow seen as a bad thing. I’m usually joking when I say it, but on this subject I really do miss Pinchy

What confuses me most is Norwood detractors saying “but he can’t do it when he’s pressed” … when he’s just done it superbly well in a game when he wasn’t pressed.

It’s a bit like another recent thread on here, where an OP offered Joe Root’s history in previous series on Australian pitches as proof that he’s been crap during a year when he’s scored more than a thousand runs in England and India. (Imperfect analogy, granted).

We all know what Norwood can’t do. I don’t understand how that blinds some of our fans to the value, and beauty, of what he can do 🤷‍♂️

MOTM yesterday. The Norwood of old. If he keeps putting in performances like that for the rest of the season then the shirt is his to lose.

The Championship suits Norwood. In the Prem he was targeted and instantly closed down. This nullified our tactics and was a reason for us being 'found out' We had no real plan B.

This season will see Norwood, Fleck, Berge and if can keep Gibbs White, be the strongest midfield in the division. Still a lot of work to do though. A couple of wingers in Jan will have us flying.

I think this is a big difference. The first thing that was obvious in the way we changed the set up at Peterboro, was that Norwood was pushed up permanently across the half way. Responsibility for moving the ball out if our half, was with the centre backs.

Played quality yesterday. Loved that he was actually trying to switch play whenever it was on

Norwood`s long passing was good yesterday.

However, too often he plays a short pass backwards or sideways, without looking forward to see if there is an attacking pass on.

I honestly think Berge would slow us down ,then we look pedestrian as a team.

when teams sit off us, he’s great as there is time to pick the long killer balls out.

Maybe a horses for courses approach with him/Hourihane depending on what the opposition are likely to try will be where we end up.

I think Berge can play the Norwood role, but when he came on the other week he seemed to up the tempo more often than slow it down.

I agree most of what we’ve seen of Berge, like Freeman, he wants to take more time on the ball. But when he comes into games, Berge has created a spark… I think where he struggles is when teams are over physical, he either gets drawn into scrappy battles or he goes all Barry Bannan and disappears as the opposition overrun him.

Really looking forward to seeing more of Berge as we gather momentum as a team, but for now it’s Norwoods shirt to lose
