interesting test of where we are going
had we played them a month ago would not have given us an earthly chance of progress
But now we have worked out we are better going forward it could provide us with a timely boost
we have the ability to push them and even a heroic defeat wont harm us

Expect them to play fringe players and we will do likewise, largely depends on how seriously both teams take it as this competition is not high on their list of priorities

After 3 games in 7 days it's a terrible time to have a cup game, we will not be playing anything close to our first XI,

plus MGW is cup tied (so too is Hourihane)

I wouldn't be surprised after watching Leicester win the FA Cup last year that Saints could well fancy giving the League Cup a good go this year and I expect them to field a fairly strong line up. Thanks to the relentlessness of the Championship we will have to rest a lot of the team that has already played 3 in the last 7 days and I personally can't see anything but a reasonably comfortable win for the visitors.

Could we make 11 changes....revert to a 4-4-2?

Foderingham for Olsen
Bogle for Baldock
Lopata for Egan
Basham for Davies
Robinson for RND
Norwood for Hourihane
Brunt for Osborn
Guedioura for Fleck
Freeman for MGW
McBurnie for Sharp
Burke for Brewster

It was ok until you got to Burke.

McJugears on at 80, scores a hat trick.

I know I'm getting on a bit but I'd actually forgotten we'd still got Burke on the books! Yeah, give the lad a run out.

We have absolutely zero chance of winning the Manchester City cup so play the kids, take a 4-0 loss and move on

The League is front and centre of all thinking this season.

Is Capello a left wing back then?

I thought he was meant to be a Left Winger/Attacking Mid ??

I'm working till 9 this evening, what are the chances of getting a stream for the game?

Looks like a strong team based on the people showing up in tracksuits on United's Twitter, including Billy, Fleck, Osborn, Norwood, McBurnie, Bash, Freeman and Bogle. Lopata seems to be in the squad too.

Freeman Ndiaye burke behind Mcburnie. Norwood and Addy holding midfielders
