Iv never claimed to be ITK on this forum or any other forum............. until now.

I don't know my brothers mates aunties brothers wifes best mates cousin or anyone like that, but i do know that James Beattie WILL be a Sheffield United player by the end of July, whether it will be a permanent or a loan i couldn't say, but i know 99% that he will join us, unless theres a dramatic twist.

Things to note which may or may not be public knowledge either way all 100% true.;

- Beattie WAS forced out of Bramall Lane, he intended on being with us for the long term.
- He wore Sheffield United shin pads at both Stoke & Rangers (unsure about Blackpool) 100% true.
- His children prefer Sheffield United out of all Beatties former clubs
- James is willing to take a paycut, although not by too much to spend the rest of his career at Sheffield United & hopefully take up a coaching roll at Bramall Lane
- Beattie STILL keeps in contact with Billy Sharp who he got on with well from his time at the Lane.

Sebastien Sharp, Billy's brother is a good friend of mine and a little secret about Billy was that he bought his dad a watch for £2,500 on holiday and Seb sold it for <snip> reasons for £50 (this is only 5% of the stuff that went on between the brothers). Despite their differences Billy has always stood by Sebsatien and they maintain regular contact.

You can flame/name call me all you like, as ive said earlier in the thread im around 99% (more towards 100% than 98%) confident in what ive learnt over the last few weeks is truthful.

If for any reason, he doesn't sign i WILL hold my hand up and say i was wrong, but im sure that won't be the case. (this is to help me, not just saying it cause i "know" it will be wrong, as i said i believe all the information i have given is true.)

Brilliant replies. Contributed the the topic well there.

Not sure how Beattie quite liking us means he's definitely going to play for us???? Good if it turns out to be true, though I can't see it unfortunately, especially seeing as we're meant to be cutting, not adding to the wage bill.

Fingers crossed, would be a fantastic signing! Doubt we're his favourite club though, especially if he was forced out. If we don't sell anyone else and manage to sign Beattie, this is a squad that will storm League 1. Not had a decent striker since Beattie left.

So lets get this straight, Billy is still good friends with BT and despite him robbing their Dads watch for <redacted> money Billy is still in contact with his <redacted> brother Seb who has told you that BT has told Billy he wants to come back to SUFC...reighto, must be true.

Be nice if it was true. Doubt it though.

Beattie wanted to stay...but on 40k a week.

hmm.... <redacted> notoriously true to their word arent they...

Give it up! Highly unlikely.

He was with a PL club last season, so you'd expect him to make one last go at the championship at least.

Apparently, Andy Reid enjoyed it at the lane too, perhaps he'd also like a go

But I guess July will pass us by and we'll see what we get...

So lets get this straight, Billy is still good friends with BT and despite him robbing their Dads watch for drug money Billy is still in contact with his druggie brother Seb who has told you that BT has told Billy he wants to come back to SUFC...reighto, must be true.

You've obviously never heard the common phrase: "Always trust a <redacted>".

For everyones information, i was a colleague of Sebs (the <redacted>) and in the job i HAD to get on with colleagues, he was on my team, and we got on.

really hope its true. Be best thing to happen at the lane since robson got the sack. Cant see it though. Youre right about shinpads though

Flash, heard any rumours up Scotland about James Beattie coming to Sheffield United?

Yeah, they've been going around for a few weeks, although it's been a bit quieter recently.

I think we'd be happy to let him go, he didn't do anything after joining us (Granted he wasn't fully fit for most of it) and he's on about £20k a week. I only saw him a few times when he went on loan to Blackpool so I don't know if he was any better there. I think he could do a job here or in the Championship/League One if match fit but I'd imagine he'll leave this summer.

We seem to have made a new striker a priority and we've just gave Healy a new one year contract too so I can't see where he would fit in.

A friend of mine, Rangers fan.

well i can confirm there is a BIG belief inside BDTBL that BT is going to play for SUFC next season tho perminant signing or loan i dunno.
as for wages, can anyone truthfully say they would prefer hendo on 17k or BT on 12k?

this is by no means set in stone, it does tho tally with what JL94x4 has also heard but from a different source.
my source is no druggie btw but a bona fide reasonably placed employee of SUFC, so make of it wat you will.

There's been rumours flying around for a few weeks now.

Just a couple of points on what you say though...

- Beattie WAS forced out of Bramall Lane, he intended on being with us for the long term.

Beattie has never "wanted out" of a club, yet he's moved how many times? Unfortunately with all footballers, there are always conditions attached even if they "intend" to stay at a club long term.

Had we upped his wages and/or given him a longer contract then yes, he probably would have stayed longer.

- His children prefer Sheffield United out of all Beatties former clubs

His first child was a toddler when he came to the lane, though did have both Everton and Blades kits and his second was only born in 2010.

Seen it said elsewhere that it's his kids doing the pushing... Really? would that be 5 year old James or his little sis? :D

Have you been watching Penn and Teller?

Obviously i can't say hes never wanted out of a club, but i think it was pretty much known by everyone, that the club pushed him out. We bought him for 4million, and sold him for 3.5, any other club would have held out for what they paid (we didn't, it all seemed rushed). He was on around 20k-30k a week... for a championship clubs thats ALOT..

I do believe he was pushed out of BDTBL but only him and the club will know what really happened 100%.

It would be more entertaining if you didn't. :)

But seriously, I can't remember a good team performance while BT was here, though he is undoubtedly a good player. It was as if he was too big a player and character and things either went through him or nowhere at all.

Moreover, I thought we'd learned our lesson about signing highly paid thirty-somethings....

That is sort of my recollection too, but what I would say is that we'd be at a lower level than before, playing a better system (hopefully), and at the very least it would create a bit of excitement that we're currently lacking for a lot of fans. Provided this is intelligently financed, it would probably be a pretty good move.

I really cannot see this happening but, if it did, I cannot think of any possible negatives other than that he might not play every game. If we managed to sign him that would satisfy me that we could afford him.

Having a player of this calibre in Division 2 (old money but post Prem formation) would be almost akin to cheating! If some fat semi-failure at Div 1 level like Mellor can do so well for the scum in D2 Beattie would have an absolute birthday.

A signing like this would also convince the fans, together with the likes of Slew that we are actually trying to achieve something and to have a player like Beatts to learn from would be an amazing experience for him. Much better than Fulham's reserves or being loaned out to a Div 1 club.

I still believe that if we'd managed to get Beattie as soon as Hulse got injured in the Prem we wouldn't have been relegated.

As I say though, I just can't see why he would want to come to us with the state we're in.

So let's get this straight. You're good mates with Billy sharp's brother but apparently happy to out him as a <redacted> to all and sundry?

Some mate....

Im telling it how it is, a bad mate would lie and try to make everyone think "hes not that type of guy, though etc etc"

I tell him hes an idiot and that if he wasn't on <redacted> maybe he could have been a success, like Billy.

Does that make me a bad person?

Telling him that privately, and telling the world that via the medium of an internet forum are two completely different things.

You may or may not be a bad person, but from my perspective at the moment, you are completely fucking stupid.*

*Highbury blade. Telling it how it is.

plenty of rumours doing the rounds on this.........
Is he too old now for us?

38K actually - from inside the club at the time

At the risk of upsetting a few, the signing of James Beattie, if it does in fact happen, will be one of the most stupid decisions the Blades will have made in the last few seasons.

The bloke is well past it, legs have gone. Couldn't get a regular shirt at Blackpool for a reason. And we are contemplating signing him as the big name marquee signing of the summer !

Dont get me wrong, I loved BT for what he did at the club last time round (the 35 yard free kick away at Burnley will live long in the memory) and we offloaded him for almost as much as what was paid. Which is fairly unique given the list of strikers we have fucked up royally with in the last few years in terms of transfer "losses" e.g. Henderson, Sharp, Evans. We offloaded him 6 months too early of course but you cant get everything right.

Not for me.

If he does come, please read this James and prove me wrong !

Spot on. Has been ..... never been.

We blow massive wages on a 30something player. Have we learnt nothing. The guy is over the hill and was nwever that good in the first place. Plus he is an individual player. We only started playing well in 08/09 after he had buggered off.

The only sollace I can take is that this is highly unlikely.
