all he's done is make media statements!

Well then he's fitting McCabes job profile down to a tee. Deflecting the flak from the board, talking a good game without ever doing anything, and keeping the more naive fans dangling with talk of signings, a new brand of football, and the usual shit that we've been hearing for years now.

Looking forward to the January transfer window already, just to see who we "almost signed but got shafted by their agent" again

However, be sure that I will make the comparisons as and when. The bar has been set now. 2 games in Blackwell was sacked, so I'll do a two game comparision, Adams got 4 months, seems only fair that his record is judged at the same time if thats the barometer that YOU like to use.

To make a fair comparison between Wilson and Blackwell, Wilson would have to be manager for a lot more than 2 games. Blackwell had 108 league games before being sacked, not 2.

2 games into the season

I chose 3. I've never been against a manager to the point of wanting him gone before he's had a chance - which for me is at the very least half a season, if not a full season. I think he was the wrong choice, but now he's there, he's got a job to do and that job is get us promoted and trounce the pigs along the way. Get it done, Wilson.

I'm not sure about this statement, but perhaps this is how he will be judged. I'd take mid table if he made the right noises. By this I mean using the academy players, clearing out the junk, not playing the shite we have, lowering the wage bill and going for a sustainable structure, bringing in the right players from the lower leagues, getting the best from what we have, working well with Pembo and playing attacking, attractive football. Maybe not all of these, but looking like he has a plan and is gearing up for promotion the season after.

Me too.

Three. You are forgetting our pitiful performance and shameful defeat at Hartlepool. You are also ignoring the fact that he should have been sacked after an inept, cowardly surrender at Wembley.

Semi-Pro reserve keepers seldom make good managers. Your hero was no exception.

Where is he now? Fighting off the long line of Chairmen wanting to appoint clueless buffoons?

Surprising amount of support for Wilson

From this thread it appears there is considerable support for Wilson. The majority are behind him and will give him time if he makes the right noises.

There is some sceptimicism of course, but I am pleasently surprised to see so many fans taking the pragmatic apporach. I still think Wilsobn needs go get a good start as some of those 2's may turn quickly to 3's.

If we were to take this as a representative sample then there would still be quite a few thousand fans that are sceptical and want results quick. Hence if we were in a position where we are not challenging around Christmas then there could be a lot of pressure on Wilson. A couple of thousand disgruntled fans have a a large voice.

This is pretty good in my opinion. I hope that Wilson can stop the rot and level us of this year. Bring through the youth, clear out the junk (or wait for their contracts to run out), decrease the wage bill, play some half decent stuff and then get us in a position to win the league the following year.

Ive gone for four. We need / still need to replace Micky Mouse with someone who was as least as good as Blackwell (the most successfull of the last 4 permant managers) if not better. We haven't. Nothing to do with him being an ex-pig, all to do with us needing a manager with a better record than those that came before.

Don't buy that. Blackwell's record before he came into the job was pretty poor. Ruined a couple of teams and then got pushed or jumped ship. By your reckoning he would never have got the job in the fiorst place. Plus, Blackwell's win ratio is greatly distorted by the good team he had. His (very good) win ration was propped up by having an excellent defence. None of these players he signed and 3/4 of them left under his tenure.

Reagrdless, still the most successfull and the bench mark that need to be reached, Wilson has not and will not reach anywhere near it IMHO. That said, hope he proves me wrong.

Wilson's career win percentage is a midge's dick worse than Blackwell's despite managing for almost 4 times longer and at a higher level than Blackwell's achieved.
