Don't count your chickens etc, hopefully a few more come through the door

Let's get them all signed, sealed and delivered first before we start the circle jerk.

And either way, it still shouldn't have taken Slav getting a mard on in public for us to get our arses into gear.

Slav said he was confident things would happen though.

Downside going after mostly loan players, you have to wait til the end of the window for them.

Swedish international keeper
Young creative midfielder and U21 international
Young winger who played in Serie A French U21
Sam Morsy
Fucking Sam Morsy though. Have we gone back to 2017?!

I think he had to say that, in a way. I certainly wasn't confident 😂

Understand the need for patience in the loan market, but let's not forget that Radio Sheffield were saying it'd be a "quiet window" just the other day. Most of us were gearing up to well and truly lose our shit.

Whatever happens today, this shouldn't have been happening today. We are the championship club who's known where it was going to be the longest out of all championship clubs. We've written off a chunk of the season with relegation form, and now need to (at best) bed in three or four new players as the season continues

As season's prep goes, this is the worst I can remember. Nobody can claim to have delivered.

Better late than never though.

Agree 100%, no one expected all our signings to be completed before the first match, but only one loan before deadline day is piss poor.

There was always going to be a hangover from last season. Confidence was bound to be at rock bottom after a season of losing every week.

Yann Karamoah? Having medical ? Allegedly. Sorry if second name wrong.

Its not been great, agreed.

But in mitigation.....

Slav wanted time to assess the players already here, he took a look at Burke and Robinson for example and moved them away fairly quickly, had he got a tune out of them it may have altered where he would spend his budget. A interrupted pre season meant this had to be done in league games, even Burke could look good against the postmen of Gibraltar

Other managers want to assess their players before agreeing for them to leave - ala Mourinho at Roma checking out Olsen before sanctioning loan

Other teams bringing players in before allowing existing players to leave

Players looking at options before deciding where to go - Karamoh been considered by Palace upto today apparently

I would suggest that all the lads coming in wouldnt class SUFC as their destination of choice when they went on their summer break, we have had to be patient and play the waiting game, then when the player sees its us or the bench/reserves, the deal gets done.

100% agree it would have been nice to get this business done weeks ago, but we are not at the top of the tree where we click our fingers and clubs and players jump.

However, we have 123 points still to play for, and fortunately Slav has a 2 week international break to get the playing together, hopefully the team that goes against Peterborough will have fresh legs from the new lads, and a renewed attitude from the ones that survive the cull that is coming, and has been long overdue

As for palace, looks like they've moved onto edaourd (probably spelt that wrong) from Celtic

True you can see now who Slav wants out.

If these deals are closed do you really think they have only been working on them since last weekend ?

The noises coming out of the club were basically that we should expect fuck all. Slavisa called out the board and then the signings we're desperate for are now, seemingly, getting done.

I've no idea when we started working on what as I'm not privvy to such conversations. All I can go off is the news and information at my disposal, same as the rest of us.

If we had everything practically tied up, would SJ have gone off as he did after the Luton game?

I think we needed players out the door first too though. Which after last seasons shambles is easier said than done.

Of course not. It's not like a signing can happen in a day and half. Oh hang on

Only one winger at the club if Karamoh signs, could do with another surely

Looks to be like we're signing every bugger and his brother without anyone having left (yet)!

Problem is when we sign seven players before deadline day and then don't sign anyone on the last day it still goes ballistic.

Didn’t say they were “tied up” at the weekend just a lot of the leg work will have been done in the previous week or weeks , Slavs rant was for them to get them over the line !

You are right, but I honestly think that the hierarchy and manager believed that the players would shake off last season and come out firing. It seems obvious now in hindsight that this was never going to happen.

The board and manager have given the players a chance, and they have not delivered so far. On that basis, I am prepared to give the Prince & co some rope, provided the rumoured signings are confirmed.

What cannot be excused away is the dreadful planning that led to just 2 pre season matches, which I also believe has significantly hampered our start.
