Are we only shopping in the English/Scottish leagues?? I don't get it. I was hoping that bringing in a foreign coaching staff would open the doors to some insight from other leagues.....

We’re still shopping in the same markets as we have done previously. We’ve brought in a foreign coaching staff but they aren’t responsible for recruitment and the recruitment team is the same. We’ve made no changes to the infrastructure of the club.

Getting concerned now. Slav has now publicly stated, " we need new fresh blood in, this week", that indicates to me he is quickly losing patience with our so called recruitment team. The fact that he has brought in a 35 year old from his previous club, shows how desperate he is.
Have a horrible feeling he will walk away, if our board does not support him. Hate to say it, but echo's of Wilder, last season

Well apart from the fact Chris spent millions of course which is part of the reason we have little money to spend this year so less echoes and more consequences

It reflects pretty f*cking poorly on our recruitment team that Slav is sounding a lot like Chris Wilder did regarding transfers right now, despite the fact that in theory recruitment was supposed to work a lot slicker with Wilder's replacement. Very, very disappointing. There's still a week or so left of the window but whatever happens from now planning around the whole thing has been piss poor.

Careful. Some who can't admit the club ever does things badly, will be along soon to tell you to pipe down and that we've just been unlucky to only bring in 1 player over the last 12 months despite it being fucking obvious where we needed to be strengthened all that time.

Some might even tell you it's the most difficult thing in the world to bring in a player and it's on a par with quantum physics (it's not, where theres a determination and a will there's a way). Strange then that other clubs manage it all easily enough. Clue, other clubs decide a budget, where the squad needs reinforcements and scout out realistically attainable targets. They don't all leave it to 8 days before the end of the latest transfer window and then try to bring in up to 5 players in that short period of time. Admittedly it's been a slow burn this window for various reasons but it is still now starting to border on penny pinching and incompetence from the club.

Time for the owner / recruitment team to step up to the plate and start backing the new manager.

He's hardly telling us anything there that everyone man, woman, dog and their hamster doesn't already know.

If the recruitment teams phones aren't red hot today and for the remainder of this window, then they are selling the club short. Get the business sorted now.

Berge was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch Saturday
obviously some people on here weren't at the game
Trouble is he's got no support in midfield to help him , Fleck and Norwood where non existent again and have been for last 12 months
and Brewster in front of him is a statue and appears to have no idea, he touched ball 14 times in 65 mins
no point selling Berge and not reinvesting £ ,like it appears we've done with Ramsdale

Some understandable points of debate etc. But it's just not true to claim it's all been left to the last eight days. You're throwing a lot of weight behind a false statement there, based on zero background knowledge.

Hamza Chowdhury managed 10 appearances last season & 314 total minutes in the league for Leicester (less than 4 complete games).

Worth a cheeky loan bid?
Not confident we'd pull it off but another one I'd be more than happy with.

We have signed no-one when the manager said we needed half a dozen a good few weeks ago (Davies apart) so the statement we have left it to the last 8 days is a true statement whatever arguments there are about why or what we might now do or what is going on in the background? 🤷‍♂️

I am not sure any football manager or club thinks or wants to replace half a team in a week and normally it is better if done over a period of time so we can phase the changes in and not overpay as happens at the end of the window.

I think some fans are incredibly naieve if they think this is a delibrate plan?

I think the recruitment team thought this squad would be ok with one or two additions. So it has badly mismanaged the situation looking at the results and performances so far.

Surely leaving it to the last minute implies we haven't even started. I guess it could be taken differently.

I would love to know how much pointless faffing about we do in the background compared to other clubs. Like spending silly amounts of time pursuing long-shots without having alternatives in the background.

Too many, including club management thought the team were good enough to bounce back
"Too much quality " !!!!
How wrong can you be ?
Sell by dates have run out for many in the squad and a few of CW signings are now coming home to roost

If the coaching staff beleaves we were good enough! Then! they dont know there job.
I would say 90%+ blades new the squad wasnt good enough.
If the prince beleaves we are good enough then really he shouldnt be in football,we are well short I hate saying that ! Unfortunately it's TRUE.

Being honest the idea that the recruitment team thought the squad was strong enough is one l can believe. But I also think there was an arrogance about the way the club as acted ever since preseason, to which some fans have tried to find justifications. Rightly or wrongly.

The club decided to spend money on a preseason warm weather camp in Spain, I was confused as to why this happened other than it being some sort of billy big bollocks we go abroad to train media move, despite the fact Covid-19 isolation was very much still a thing. There was some loosely based thinking that going abroad was easy for some of the new staff, but, even so, it prevented the first team from training for 10 days and in that time we could have quite easily played a couple of friendlys giving us more time to uncover the fact these players were never going to suit Slavs style.

The issue of signing players is an exhausted one, but for people to suggest the type of player we are going for might make it into premier league squads so we are waiting, is a perfect example of believing we can play chicken with clubs in the top division. We are waiting in line with teams like Burnley, Brentford, Brighton, Palace, Norwich, Newcastle and Watford, what makes anyone think we can compete with these teams for talented players that have just missed out of places from top 8 premier league teams?

What’s now happening is a realisation that we can’t, so we have stepped down a ladder only to realise all of the secondary targets from premier league team have been snapped up. Leaving us to think how on earth has that team got their hands on that player over us. The next step down are players from bottom half premier league clubs and free agents.

I really hope I’m wrong, because I’ll buy the eggs myself. But this seems like another gamble/risky move that could leave us with all or nothing. Remember we are the side that came down with what in theory should have been a head start over WBA and Fulham.
