Anyone still deluded over Berge?

Who don’t they come in and put money where their mouths are then?
A team might. If they don't, does that mean he's crap?

If so, must mean Ismaila Sarr is crap n'all, nobody came and paid the asking price for him last season.

Breaking it down a bit.
Close control...yes.
Passing....good.
Two footed?.... actually predominantly right side.
Heading.....poor.
Tackling.....poor.
shooting.....average.
Crossing......good.
Dribbling......average to good.
Leadership.....average.
Desire.....average.
Fitness....average.

Position: in my view he is CM in a 442. He needs another CM partner get the best from him. He can look good at times but he is not influential enough in games.
If we can get what we paid for him we will be doing well.

His midfiel counterparts were absolutely fine until his arrival. The midfield hasn’t been the same since.

Yet somehow the onus is on the others to drag Berge’s performances up.

Why the blind faith that it’s the others letting Berge down, and not the reverse?

LOL and what was their excuse for being utterly shite the many months he was out injured?

The original notion is far less ludicrous than the one you are suggesting, that the whole team forgot how to attack and defend because we signed Sander Berge. Get a grip

He can’t. But he didn’t perform in his first season, when he was surrounded by players who’d got us challenging for Europe.

What was his excuse then?

He was never really part of ‘that’ team though was he? He came to United in Jan ‘20, was part of the side that beat Palace & Bournemouth then drew with Brighton - then COVID happened, the entire side went to shit & the rot that we’re still seeing now set in.

You are right 100% correct, however football is also a physical game, a game that can turn or be affected by not just a goal but a tackle, WBA strolled through our midfield, there are 2 tackles that stick out last night, Freeman on his backside still managed in part with a bit of luck to beat 2 players, late on Norwood did a sliding tackle when he looked to leave a bit of follow through on their player
Football is about attitude, we don't have any leaders on the pitch, Freeman & Osborn have more will and fight than Berge does, Freeman & Osborn have the ability to drag Fleck and Norwood with them, with Berge everything is pedestrian

Disagree with Osborn, but fair comment.

I’m suggesting that by your assessment method, we’d still be accepting Raven Morrrison as a top talent.

Previous scouts may have spoken highly.

Right now, none of them will be recommending anyone shells out even half of his buyout fee. So perhaps the current thinking, not just amongst reactionary fans, is that he’s failing in English football and there are huge question marks about his actual qualities.

Yet no-one signed him 2 years ago and noone has signed him this summer when surely if teams would have given us our money back we would have sold? This notion we are waiting for a 30+ million bid is nonsense.

I don't see how his value has increased at all and it seems other clubs agree or he would have left.
Ismaila Sarr at Watford didn't get bought last season, was it because he's cack or were the club smart to hold out for a massive bid?

Berge clearly didn't impress as much as Sarr did while he was in the prem, but the same applies. They bought a talent for £30mill. He had a good season but they went down. Rather than accept a £30mill bid (or less), they'd decided they liked what they saw and kept him as an asset.

If Slav thinks Berge isn't all that, he'll suggest he be sold for owt around £20mill. If he likes what he sees, we'd be stupid not to ask for £30+ (at least as a starting point).

The performance of the team very definitely drppped off the monitors we wedged him into the team. Results didn’t fall quite the same as performance, but it was clear to see.

Previous scouts clearly did speak highly of him. Right now, who knows what scouts are saying about him, neither of us no.

The transfer talk around him linking him to top clubs could be his agent trying to drum up interest, or could be scouts that recognise his potential.

I’m only suggesting that Berge is not nearly the player that many are suggesting.

if I’m thrown the ludicrous notion that it’s everyone else’s fault, I’m going to turn that on its head.

The only players on that midfield that have demonstrated (at any point) any quality for Sheffield United are Norwood and Fleck.

Have to be honest here, I blamed Lundstrom 100% for that failings last season, genuinely thought when he left, a cloud would be lifted and the team spirit and attitude would return.
Obviously looks like I was wrong! Berge was shoe horned into thus team in a position and role that wasn't his best or preferred.
The huge question now is,, what his is best position and will Slav utilise him in that role

I would say he is more of an attacking midfielder if you go on what he did before he joined us.

Yes, he is more attack minded as every clip we've ever seen of him at Genk showed us.
But club retard look at the fact that he's 6 foot 5 so can't possibly be a technically gifted player, and his height and strength will be useful in a defensive role heading away corners, such is their levels of due diligence.

I didn't want him to go, but I've changed my mind, if we can get £20 million for him I hope he leaves, the fans of this club will be happy when he's holding his own at a Premier League club, and they'll be even happier to see the seven League One, work horse, hoofers that we buy with the money. It's all they appreciate or understand

Nonsense. You're falling foul of the standard Blade practise of wilfully ignoring everything good he's done because of inflated expectations.

Two games in and Berge has gone from a championship cheat code to the worst signing ever who shouldn’t start 🤣🤣

Still our best midfielder by a Mile let’s wait until Slav decides to pick a decent team around him and finally let the players know what formation he wants them to play

He was actually one of our better players during Project Restart. Spurs and Arsenal at home stick out in my memory.

If we got a decent offer for him I would be tempted to sell. I don't know if his head has been turned and he is doing a Lundstram, but he has rarely made an impact.

Most predictable post of the year award to you sir 😂

It's a bit harsh saying that some of our fans only appreciate hoofers. The point remains that for the money we paid for him he is disappointing.
He could end up doing well at another side. Unfortunately we can't afford to keep him if we need to overhaul midfield. As the money he could generate would allow us to get 3 players in. There is no competition in midfield so that area is the priority.

I think a better question is, of the 3 league games we played, how many of our midfielders would get in the Brum, Swansea or WBA teams, and realistically how many of them would get in ours?

Okay, it should be easy for you to point out everything good he’s done…….?

Here we go;

It’s the fans’ fault - tick

All the scouts and coaches are wrong. All the professional football people are wrong.
Correct, they all got it wrong.

He’s fucking useless, and it’s about time people realised that a £25M price tag on your head, doesn’t make you a good player.

Here we go;

It’s the fans’ fault - tick

The majority of fans of this club are quite happy watching a bunch of hoofers that get stuck in.

Style and creativity (football in other words is lost on them) they just don't get it.

They have been brainwashed into believing that creative, quality players are all trouble makers, and rather than demand change they accept the club has been a boring, dismal, failing non entity for generations.

The managers that have some semblance of success are fans, they are always fans, they get it, they understand the Blaaayyyddeess Waayyyyhhh

It's shit, and it's embarrassing, but the fans get what they want regardless of how piss poor it is.

They are not the worst team of the 92 in positional terms, but in relative terms they definitely are.

Well I’ve been saying it for the last year, having given him 6 months’ grace, where I accepted the constant excuses that people gave for him.

Tony Currie is probably the most lauded player at the club, yet "the majority" don't like style and creativity, behave and start slagging Sheffield residents off about how it's their fault that the city is a shithole instead 😂

Tony Currie is the most lauded player amongst 60, 70 and 80 year olds

Anyone under 55 couldn't remember him
