My take ...

Norwood did not have a good game. But on 4 occasions he put in a through ball, that led to real opportunities for us. That happened, no an act of imagination. So its hard to say he did nothing. And that is what he is contributing even when he has a bad game...

Norwood 2/10: Pin 'em back. He isn't good enough. Fulham and Brighton were right and today was why. For a CM defensive pivot he is so easily dispossessed and brushed aside, outfought, outrun or simply bypassed. His legendary pings are now easily read and predictable and that fucking free kick, with Berge waiting for the roll through when he then deftly chipped it over everyone's heads to the defender at the back post tells you all you need to know.

Ref 7/10: Pretty good. Think our penalty was iffy however.
The ref went and positioned himself beautifully in the line of sight between Norwood and Berge before he took it, the stupid git. 🥴

Norwood had a shocking second half, but it's probably more noticeable because we see the players running past him. To be fair all 3 of our midfielders were brilliant in the first half, Lunny was back to his old, energetic self, Berge looked a class apart and Norwood was the heartbeat of it all. They just lost it again in the second half, maybe through tiredness, maybe as Wilder said it was nerves.

I couldn't give him a 2 though, the first half was really good. And it shows, given the first half, how desperate we are for our midfield to perform.

Having just watched the highlights [OK SUFC centred] I feel a bit more positive]

If someone could actually finish we would be fine & probably on 5 points ish. A genuine goal scorer receiving some of those chances would have had at least 2 yesterday. If they had fallen to Billy he would have scored no doubt, sadly he is coming to the end of his career. But at least he knows where the posts are, McBurnie just seems to aim for the goalie more times than not.

If only.......

He wanted back to BDTBL and it is the most complete resultant for his career.

If he wants to do a Michael Tonge, sign for a 'top PL outfit' and sit on the bench, then he's welcome. We need him in the ten role, where a few short seasons ago he was pretty fucking devastating.

JTW. GO!

pommpey
He ranged between devastating and pants

Brooks is a great player and will be forever remembered for THAT game at the Theatre of Rust and the goal against DirtyLeeds, but I think you are looking back with rose tinted specs.

He made 30 appearances in 2017/8 but ONLY STARTED 9 times, the other 21 being as a sub. He didn't do enough off the ball and was poor tracking back and tackling.

I loved his flair but I don't see how he'd fit in our current side. Sadly he doesn't work hard enough and currently the players around him, aren't performing well enough to carry him.

If fit, id go with a 4-2-3-1, chance for full backs to bomb on with two midfield pivots to provide cover

Ramsdale
Baldock Basham* Egan Stevens (The lads from Derby might be better served at full back, but never seen them play).
Ampadu Norwood
Berge McGoldrick Fleck
Brewster

* i have doubts over Basham as CB in a 2, so could put Ampadu there, drop Berge back and have Lunny further forward

I’d give wilder 1 out of 10 just for not starting Brewster. Baffling decision!
This, record signing, welcome to the club lad, you’ve had the International break to settle in and must be raring to go so, you’re on the bench behind our stars who, between them have scoring record of..........oh hang on a minute.
