In his post match interview he called Brewster a great kid.

He's a 19 year old on debut talking like a old timer!

For a young lad, he’s had quite an eventful life so far, been at some top academies, and Derby as well. But the Lane has always been his true home and where he’s going to make his name.

By the sounds of it, his dad pimped him out to everybody as a kid. Fair do's, clearly worked out in the end

I don't know what's up with him? Complacency maybe?
I personally think he struggles massively when the players around him are chasing the game as there is more pressure to find the right ball...

As for set pieces, there should be no excuse really

Not quite!
I got a lot wrong but only ever tried to do what was right.
Well that should kill any potential negativity for this thread and clearly you won’t (and shouldn’t) tell us anything from behind the scenes but I’m sure we’re all of the same opinion that we wish Zak all the best for the season wherever that may be.

Thought he was very solid today. Played that Norwood role well and controlled play in possession, certainly helped with Fleck alongside in second half as well.

Thought he was off it first 45 but improved in the second. Never shy’s away from the ball though and never shirks a challenge. Another I’d love to be around the match day squad along with Ndiaye
Agree. A midfield diamond of Brunt (CDM), Berge (RM), Freeman (LM) and Ndiaye (CAM) couldn't be worse than what were putting out in the league.

I thought he was definitely one of the better players first half, sitting in that role. Was better with the ball than without, but still got his challenges in

We have a lot of players that look busy but are frustrating as fook as they don’t see the balls they should be playing, often looking for the more complicated pass or doing a step over… Bogle, Freeman, Ozzy and Didsy all culprits in that first half

I’d play Fleck ahead of Freeman on tonight’s performance. Freeman flatters to deceive for most of the game
I’ll say one thing for Freeman, he gets into good positions, as evidenced by the goal. He offers much more than any other midfielder we have in that respect and we really miss someone attacking those spaces. His end product may come with fitness and sharpness - I wouldn’t be against him getting a game at Luton. Fleck was good when he came on though.

Tidy in everything he did tonight, but looked to play a very safe ball every time, and seemed rather passive, for me. Took the ball off the CHs and gave it to those ahead of him effectively enough, in the classic ‘water carrier’ stylee, but not sure he really influenced play too much. Certainly never tried to beat a man.

This would potentially look v different if those he gives the ball to, higher up the pitch, are more dynamic than they were tonight. In that scenario, a water carrier (Norwood without the ping) can be a vital link.

As it was, the goals aside Derby reserves proper bossed us for 30 mins in the second half, and one reason for that was our lack of bite in midfield, again.

GLTTL. But on tonight’s showing I’m not sure he’s near the first team yet.

Def opted for the safe pass a lot of tonight but did ok

At fault for their goal.
Passed back more than forwards.
Needs to do much better going forwards.
The thing is Zak’s only played a sitting role twice, against Carlisle and last night. He’s a creative attacking midfielder but like he says, he’d rather play out of position than not at all.

His inexperience in the role is the reason he plays so many safe balls, he’s literally learning on the job.

With the greatest of respect to the lad I didn't see much tonight to think he should be turning out in league games at present.
