James Garner

I don't need to, you clearly think he isn't an abject failure. So would be interested to know why you don't think he is, and what the scale of poor to failure is?
Rooney hasn't been an abject failure at Derby. He achieved the only goal he was given - to stay up.

A bad tackle in training is unfortunate, happens all the time. His personal affairs are just that - these have are not measurements of a managers success.

He is currently manager of a club in turmoil - no players, EFL restrictions and takeover after takeover stalling.

Is he a manger I would want? No. But to brazenly call him an 'abject failure' is ill informed.

He stayed up through sheer luck. A last minute goal from Cardiff against Rotherham, paired with Wednesday's points deduction kept them up. Paired with the EFL's strange decision not to deduct them any points.

I didn't even mention that tackle in training, or his personal affairs, but as a football manager with a 20 odd % win ratio I'm struggling to think of him being anything else but a failure.

Derby fans absolutely hate him.

Couldn't get enough of him in The Rockford Files - bit of a Maverick though.

There’s always one…crap joke…but it made me laugh…so thanks.
When I saw the title I also thought it was about the 70’s/ 80’s actor too.

According to a Man U journo.

Notts Forest, Swansea City, Stoke City & 2 PL sides also after him.

Man U prefer a PL loan but game-time will be the key deal breaker

Was told his wages were subsided as a player by 32Red wonder if that’s changed now he’s manager

So realistically, Utd must stand a very good chance of getting the lad if they choose to go all in for him?

Maybe but I’m not sure we can offer assurances of a regular weekly starting berth he’d have to out compete one of fleck, berge, Norwood, viera, osborn and slater for the spot. Some of those he would naturally be in front of but others not so much and it’s a long way from being a guaranteed starter.

yes if man utd stipulating rules very much doubt he will be coming here more than likely end up back at forest

His quality is not in doubt but unless he's been earmarked to play as a #10, I can't see how he'd get into the side with Viera seemingly on his way. Perhaps as a box-to-box RCM in a mid 3 with Berge playing more centrally (if still around).

Whoever he goes to, they'd be daft to loan him to a Prem side.

He was excellent last year, but for a Championship team fighting relegation. He'll no doubt be a Prem player one day, but if he goes to a Prem club now he'll spend most the season on the bench.

We need this guy, Ronaldo Vieira and Tino Anjorin from Chelsea…as a bare minimum for our misfiring midfield

Sounds like Henderson second time round. He didn't get here until very late.
Yeah I’d imagine he’ll want assurances that he’ll get first team opportunities before signing a deal.
