Watched him for forest vs Wednesday last season in the hope they'd send them down. He didn't look great, none of them did though the standard was dreadful.

The commentator was going on about how sought after he was though and likely to play premiership football next season. Hopefully that game was just a one off as he's clearly got a fairly good reputation

Nick cox has been promoted to be head of their set up I think so obviously he’ll know us inside out. If it weren’t for Rooney we should be front of the queue for Man U players.

with all the systems weve been discussing on here just wonder if 4231 is a possibility as well and that would enable mcgoldrick to play in the middle of the 3 linking up with the 2 pivots

As I’ve said before , I’d love us to go 4-1-3-2 and even with the current squad , I’m sure we have sufficient quality and experience to see off the majority of teams in our league using that formation .

think it would probably be more like 4141 if were going down that route same system bielsa uses but if we did go 4231 i doubt the 2 would both be holding midfielders

The things that impressed me most were his determination to win the ball in the first place but then to carry it forward or look for a defence splitting pass , rather than go sideways or backwards .

Reminded me a lot of Lunny .

A Prem loan is more likely to mean less time on the pitch - even at Brentford, unless he is exceptional, in which case, why loan at all?

A fair point HB although as he's apparently highly rated at MUFC and of course spent last season in the Champ, I would have thought the next logical step for him would be to play in the Prem next season, even if that's potentially at the cost of some game-time.

Of course, there's no guarantee he'll be good enough - there have been plenty of highly rated prospects e.g. Ben Woodman and to a lesser degree Kieron Dowell, who have not quite been able to cut it and found their level to be lower down, although Dowell still has another chance with Norwich next season.

I can’t see them loaning any of their A* young talent only those theyre maybe looking to move on and need a shop window.

I think Lampard and Morris were considered “safe hands” to develop players like Mount. Rooney’s a car crash. Derby are a car crash club (literally). I wouldn’t want youth team players being exposed to that kind of culture, can’t imagine Cox or OGS do either. Even trying to think like a neutral, I can’t see any decent young player choosing them over us.

You mean Mengi? I guess the quality of his experience there may dictate future policy. He may have been full of praise for how he was handled there and has shown a marked improvement following the loan. Or he may not…

That’s the one. I think I was probably wrong in saying they’d rival us for loan players especially garner as he’s now established at champ level where as I think due to the situation derby are in they’ll be getting lads on their first loan like mengi
